Pro-life billboard towers over Planned Parenthood – for one glorious day

Pro-life Billboard over Planned Parenthood Jackson Michigan

Jackson Right to Life, in Michigan, followed all the rules when renting billboard space next to the Jackson Planned Parenthood.

For one glorious day a pro-life billboard towered over Planned Parenthood’s pathetic little abortion feeder with the simple but powerful message, “Choose Life = No Regrets.”

There was only one problem: The billboard was on Planned Parenthood’s property. Adams Outdoor Advertising had leased the billboard space but forgotten about Planned Parenthood’s addendum forbidding any pro-life messaging.

So just as quickly as the billboard went up, on June 2, it came down the next day. Adams is offering Jackson RTL other locations, and on the advice of attorneys Jackson RTL is accepting Adams’ offer and moving on.

But the snafu was all worth it for the amazing photo op, eh?

Learning sex of baby “pushes toward ‘traditional gender roles'”

by Kelli

“These results suggest women who choose not to learn their baby’s sex may not worry about having clothes, toys and colors for their child that match traditional gender expectations,” said Letitia Kotila, lead author of the study, which will be published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

Finding out your child’s sex before their born, the researchers suggest, may push them towards a certain gender identity later.

“If you know ahead of time that you’re having a girl, are you layering on all the pink and purple in a way that is going to push an extremely feminine ideal on your child?” Sarah Schoppe-Sullivan, another researcher who worked on the study, said.

~ Eliana Dockterman, discussing a new study which suggests that “buying pink or blue clothes before your child is even born may pressure them into specific gender roles,” Time, June 3

Announcing new JillStanek.com crew members!

announcing-thumb-200x301by Carla

I would like to announce some exciting news here at JillStanek.com!

We have reshaped our Mod Squad, which is made up of pro-lifers who have shown themselves to be dedicated, honest, and respectful commenters here.

I’m excited to announce that Del, LibertyBelle, and Sydney have all graciously said YES to accepting the opportunity to moderate this blog! We are excited by their willingness to do this! Carder and Bobby Bambino will carry on as mods as well, and we are very grateful. Many thanks to our outgoing mods Gerard Nadal and Alice.

I will be stepping down as lead mod of this blog. Six years have simply FLOWN by!

I read this blog for years and did not comment until 2007 and was hooked. :) Jill asked me to be a moderator in 2008, and I have learned so much! I have met amazing pro-life warriors who are now lifelong friends and come to understand exactly what those who are pro-abortion think and believe.

I have watched some of those pro-abortion hearts transform into pro-life hearts and have also had the privilege of helping post-abortive mothers who have contacted me. Jill gave me a platform as a post-abortive mom and a chance to speak my heart and bring a name and a face to post abortive regret… and for that I will be forever grateful.

I will be praying for all of you as you continue to fight the good fight here and out there. Saving lives and educating others and celebrating the major pro-life wins in laws that protect mothers and their children. I am so proud of all of you!

This is not goodbye. This is “see ya”!

Jill note: Carla has been a dedicated leader on this blog, taking her role as lead moderator very seriously. I am really going to miss her. And yes, Carla is my go-to friend to whom I send post-abortive moms for compassion, wise counsel, and help with healing. I know I can still go to Carla for that. She has become a dear friend over the years. I am really going to miss her daily presence here.

We are also going to miss Gerard and Alice and thank them for their sacrifices of time here. LauraLoo also needs an extended break away from job-sharing Pro-life videos of the day with Hans. The blog’s glue, Kelli, will be stepping into her shoes.

I want to welcome and thank Del, LibertyBelle, and Sydney, well known and cogent pro-life voices in our blog community. Carder, Bobby Bambino, and Susie are all staying on, whew!

Thanks also to you readers and commenters for indeed making this a special place.

Planned Parenthood CEO’s annual salary now exceeds $500,000

Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards 2012-13 salary now exceeds $500k
According to Planned Parenthood Federation of America‘s 2012 IRS Form 990, CEO Cecile Richards made over one-half million dollars – $523,616, to be exact – for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2013.

That’s a lot of money to pay the CEO of a nonprofit organization, particularly one that claims to cater to low-income women.

“Planned Parenthood works to make health care accessible and affordable,” boasts Planned Parenthood.

Cecile Richards Planned ParenthoodReally? How much more affordable would Planned Parenthood’s services be were not its corporate bosses and affiliate CEOs making big bucks? For that 2012 reporting period, PPFA’s 12-member executive team tallied a combined income of $3.87 million.

When questioned by The Daily Caller in October 2012 about what was thought at the time to be an “almost $400,000 salary,” Richards responded, “None of my salary is paid for by the federal government.”

But if “[n]early half of Planned Parenthood patients rely on Medicaid coverage,” as Planned Parenthood states, does Richards really think she’d be making the same coin were government funding – to the tune of $540.6 million in FY 2012-13 – removed from Planned Parenthood’s total revenue of $1.210 billion?

And actually, The Daily Caller was well over $100,000 off on Richards’ salary.

Turns out Richards made $583,323 during Fiscal Year 2011 (July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012). This represented a whopping 39% pay increase from the year before that, when she “only” made $420,153.

Cecile Richards campaigns Barack ObamaSo, actually, Richards’ 2012 salary of $523,616 represented a 10% pay cut.

But this was because she took time off from Planned Parenthood to campaign for President Obama’s reelection – which paid off for Planned Parenthood handsomely via windfall income via Obamacare and other government funding streams, only kept flowing by Obama and other pro-abortion politicians.

This sort of financial cushion then frees up Planned Parenthood to raise and spend money to elect pro-abortion candidates, who then return the favor.

See how the circle of loot works?

And where are the liberals – the Occupy Wall Street types – who supposedly despise such top-heavy income? They oppose Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Finance. But Big Abortion? Not on your life, or rather, not on the lives of innocent little babies.

Pro-life vid of day: Former abortion worker confesses – “I had nightmares”

by Hans Johnson

Terri once operated the The All Women’s Health Center, where late-term abortions were performed. Eventually, she left that business and is now attending church. While encouraging protesters at the Orlando Women’s Center (where late-term abortions are also done), she spoke to John Barros, a counselor outside the clinic, in this video:

Sharon Osbourne: Abortion was “the worst thing I ever did”

sharon osbourneI had an abortion at 17 and it was the worst thing I ever did…. I went alone. I was terrified. It was full of other young girls, and we were all terrified and looking at each other and nobody was saying a bloody word. I howled my way through it, and it was horrible. I would never recommend it to anyone because it comes back to haunt you.

When I tried to have children, I lost three — I think it was because something had happened to my cervix during the abortion.

~ Talk show host Sharon Osbourne (wife of Ozzy) describing her abortion experience, joining the ranks of other celebrities such as Stevie Nicks, Sinead O’Connor, and Toni Braxton, as quoted by National Review, June 2

Whoops! Planned Parenthood shows photo of abortion victim on Facebook

File this one in Planned Parenthood’s “whoopsie” folder to be sure.

Nevertheless, up on Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio’s Facebook page at the moment is a photo of an abortion victim, along with half an “ABORTION IS MURDER” sign. Note the “like’s” are all by pro-lifers. Click to enlarge…

Planned Parenthood Women Succeed Bus Tour with photo of abortion victim

The event being promoted by Planned Parenthood was a Columbus, Ohio, stop this morning of the “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds” bus tour, featuring pro-abortion Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Obviously there to greet Pelosi were pro-life activists, including Created Equal, which noted on Facebook, “How can women succeed so long as we kill them in the womb?”

Here’s a photo of the larger scene, posted by Created Equal. Click to enlarge…

I’m betting the photo will be down shortly. But pro-life activists should save a screen shot for the next time Facebook censors them for showing the reality of abortion.

UPDATE 6/3 6:40a: PPAO has defiantly left the photo up, choosing instead to delete pro-life comments. Meanwhile, far more people have “liked” this post than any of PPAO’s others this year.

  • Clinic Quotes reports the words of a Boston abortionist who acknowledges that her work as an abortionist does end lives… but for “good reasons”:

I have the utmost respect for life; I appreciate that life starts early in the womb, but also believe that I’m ending it for good reasons. Often I’m saving the woman, or I’m improving the lives of the other children in the family. I also believe that women have a life they have to consider. If a woman is working full-time, has one child already, and is barely getting by, having another child that would financially push her to go on public assistance is going to lessen the quality of her life. And it’s also an issue for the child, if it would not have had a good life. Life’s hard enough when you’re wanted and everything’s prepared for. So yes, I end life, but even when it’s hard, it’s for a good reason.

  • A Culture of Life speaks hard truth about the exploitation of IVF. The strong desire to have children is understandable but most couples do not examine adequately the realities that go with IVF treatments:

There is immediate relief for couples who get a baby. But frequently there are “leftover” embryos. Currently in excess of 10 000 in New Zealand alone.

Many couples end their treatment with no intention of having more children. But frequently they correctly identify these embryos as being the siblings of the children they already have at home. They don’t want to bring them to birth, but they don’t have any morally acceptable alternatives. They see them as theirs, so they don’t want to donate them to others. And because they have some understanding of their humanity, they don’t want them destroyed by the clinic or by medical researchers. So every time the bill for cold storage arrives, there is a repeat of the anxiety. In the past many couples just paid the bill and put off making a decision. But now they will be forced to make the decision after 10 years. These dilemmas aren’t adequately considered before starting IVF.
