Pro-life news brief 11-26-13

  • A legislator in China has called for public hospitals to provide free abortions to students:

Wei Aimin, a deputy of the Beijing People’s Congress and a lawyer with Beijing Dangdai law firm, told Beijing-based Morning Post that many students seeking abortions went to underground clinics to prevent their parents and teachers from finding out and because they could not afford to go to large hospitals.

“All public hospitals in the city should offer abortions to pregnant students for free or for a minimal charge of 100 yuan,” Wei was reported as saying, “So they are not forced to go to cheaper unlicensed clinics.”

How abortion proponents view current pro-life tactics

Robin Marty-As I wrote in my post, “How abortion proponents view the current abortion landscape,” I have developed a collegial relationship with Robin Marty, pictured right, senior political reporter for RH Reality Check.

This past weekend Robin was in Chicago for a National Organization for Women convention, and we got to meet. She had asked if she could interview me for a piece she’s writing.

Through the course of our lunchtime conversation (which she paid for, thanks!) Robin enlightened me on how abortion proponents view current pro-life efforts, particularly since 2010, when pro-lifers began passing laws in unprecedented numbers. Robin agreed to let me share her thoughts. I’m not going to pick them apart, I simply find them fascinating and thought you might, too.

How abortion proponents view the current abortion landscape

crowafterroe_smallPro-abortion authors Robin Marty and Jessica Mason Pieklo have co-authored a fascinating new book, Crow After Roe.

Marty is senior political reporter for RH Reality Check, and Pieklo is a senior legal analyst there. Over the past year or so I’ve developed a collegial relationship with Robin. Even as we both stand our ground, it’s refreshing to discuss and debate sans animus.

Robin was kind enough to give me a copy of her book, which I have been reading with interest. Even though Robin writes from a biased perspective, which she freely acknowledges, she writes intelligently, another refreshing difference from the typical pro-abortion fare I usually read.

Those pro-abortion bullies are actually on the defensive

Back in the day abortion proponents had all the mojo and pro-lifers were on the defensive. The photo above, via PBS, is of pro-abortion rally demanding a repeal of pro-life laws in Washington, D.C.,  circa 1971.

At the same time, feminists were pushing the Equal Rights Amendment in all 50 states. The photo below, via illinois.gov, is of feminists writing the names of ERA opponents in pigs’ blood on the floor of the Illinois State Capitol on June 24, 1982…

Two more Planned Parenthoods close; number of clinics down 23% from high

2013-06-09_1637

I was researching something last week and stumbled on an announcement by Planned Parenthood of Northeast, Mid-Penn & Bucks County in Pennsylvania that it was shuttering its Carlisle clinic. This is not an abortion mill; it is what pro-lifers call a “feeder” – a conduit to PP abortion mills. But its closure is still a boon for the health and welfare of that community. And Planned Parenthood’s political influence will be removed from the area.

On May 29, two former Planned Parenthood of Delaware nurses testified before a bipartisan hearing of state legislators regarding unsafe practices they witnessed at two PPDE abortion clinics as well as by PPDE abortionist Timothy Liveright, who I previously wrote “ogled, slapped, [and] played peek-a-boo with patients.”

2013 pro-life summer boot camps for teens/college students!

boot camp final

Following the tradition we started two years ago, we’re posting all the upcoming summer pro-life teen- and college-aged boot camps we could find around the country. If we missed any, please let Kelli know.

If I had teens in the house now I’d not only send them to church camp every summer, I’d send them to at least one pro-life boot camp during their high school years. These provide a great opportunity to build strength and confidence in the sanctity of life and also launch lifelong pro-life friendships.

It’s great to see so many pro-life groups in so many states sponsoring these vital training programs for our young people….

Live Action video #3: Infanticide in AZ: “They will not resuscitate”

2013-05-02_1204Today, Live Action released the third video in its new investigative series, “Inhuman: Undercover in America’s late-term abortion industry.”

We have already seen willingness by personnel at an abortion clinic in New York and in Washington, D.C. to either kill abortion survivors outright, or let them asphyxiate.

In the video released today, a counselor at Family Planning Associates Medical Group in Phoenix, Arizona, tells Live Action’s pregnant investigator she can forgo having her preborn baby injected (through her abdomen) with a drug (Digoxin) to kill him or her, in which case, “It’s possible that there may be movement as they’re taking out the fetus.” And in which case, “They will not resuscitate.” Perhaps more horrifying is that a baby still alive could be aborted in parts:
