Pro-life video of the day: The “normalization of cruelty”
by Hans Johnson
Even as the U.S. gears up for the implementation of Obamacare, Britain is beginning to have misgivings over the quality of health care of its own NHS. Even the left-leaning BBC and Guardian newspaper are spotlighting Labour MP Ann Clywd’s claims of the shoddy treatment of her late husband:

I know I must show compassion, but I have a hard time when this lady prefaces her horrible story with supporting the very system that created this situation that treats patients as cogs in the machinery of state rather than people. Good grief, even the death of her spouse can’t cause her to rethink her ideas about government control of healthcare. They even had a service to praise their vaunted NHS at the Olympics.
That’s a good point Chris.
In the 1980s, the people of eastern Europe were smart enough to know that the communist government was the problem, and that the supportive media was a bunch of liars.
I’m not entirely sure that progressives in the west will ever similarly wake up. No matter how bad things get, today’s progressives have enough cognitive dissonance to never assign blame where blame lies.
Then we have the story of a man who died on Christmas Day. I learned the story this weekend because I purchased his concentrator.
He was mis-diagnosed with “gas,” then his bowel exploded, spreading infection through his chest cavity. It destroyed his lungs, hence the need for a concentrator. They opened him up, removing several infected organs and put him back together with a colostomy bag.
That was when his insurance company dropped him on a technicality, leaving him and his wife with a $325,000 medical bill. The last time he saw his doctor he asked about getting himself “put back together” and the doctor responded, “when you’ve got your finances in order.”
His wife said he gave up then and now he’s dead. You won’t be reading about it on Faux News. The wife is losing their house and moving in with her 90-year-old parents.
Whaddya think Newsbusters will write about that one Hans?
“Obamacare?”
Tomorrow isn’t soon enough. If that makes me “left-leaning,” then call me a communist.
Oh, but that’s an exception to our fine record in this country you’ll say, and I’ll say you don’t get out enough.
Preventable medical errors kill roughly 100,000 people a year in the US. If anybody thinks that this is an issue that is found only in Europe – then they need to read a bit more.
That’s terrible mp, but do you think a bureaucrat in DC would have lifted a finger to help that poor man? What if his “quality of life” doesn’t justify the $325k expense to save it, is he better off in a system that not only doesn’t help him afford care but explicitly tells him the can’t have the surgery, or puts him on a waiting list for it? Where was this man’s community support system now? Why don’t you help out his wife or find someone who can?
Why don’t you help out his wife or find someone who can?
I did. I paid the asking price for her used concentrator.
What would you like to do?
