Quote of the Day 10-19-10
I am at once a physician, a citizen and a woman, and I am not willing to stand aside and allow this concept of expendable human lives to turn this great land of ours into just another exclusive reservation where only the perfect, the privileged and the planned have the right to live.
~The late Dr. Mildred Jefferson, in a 2003 issue of The American Feminist, as quoted by the New York Times, October 18
Dr. Jefferson was the first black female graduate of Harvard Medical School and a founder of National Right to Life Committee. She passed away on October 15, 2010 at age 84.

Dr. Jefferson was a true heroine of the pro-life movement and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
I am proud to say I hold the same belief as this great woman!
A woman who loved and cared about other women born and preborn!!
Step aside, NOW. You don’t speak for me.
What Jeanne said!
Awesome quote!!!! Amazing!!!!
God Bless you, Dr. Jefferson! Rest In Peace.
I had the chance to speak to Dr. Jefferson via telephone once. She was witty and super smart. She was ignored by the black political establishment, of course, but I don’t think she cared. She will be missed!
I heard this great pro-life warrior speak once she was awesome. May she rest in peace and may there be many who will stand up to take her place.
May her soul rest in the arms of Jesus.
She must have been one great woman. I’m sorry to say I’d never heard of her until the event of her passing. But what a great legacy she leaves behind!
I, too, had never heard of this great woman until yesterday. It’s a shame she hasn’t been more celebrated. I am sharing her information with as many friends as possible–all of whom had never heard of her. The world is clearly less without her.
