Pro-life vids of day, Jimmy Carter: Female gendercide worse than Holocaust
by Hans Johnson
Former President Jimmy Carter is on a promotion tour for his latest book, A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence and Power. On Monday’s Morning Joe on MSNBC, he compared the missing 160 million girls due to selective infanticide and abortion to the Jewish Holocaust of World War II:
He then appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and noted how gender imbalance, thanks to sex-selective abortion and female infanticide, has added to the rise in human trafficking:

I just tuned into NPR’s interview with Carter. He will be signing copies of the book this evening at the Swedish-American Museum in the Windy City.
This discussion is long overdue on the national stage. Props to Carter for starting it….
About time!!!
Our country needs to lead the way and make abortion illegal asap.
Thank you Mr. Carter!!
Whoa 8-O
Not too fond of the word choice, personally. I don’t like the comparison of tragedies, as if one is more tragic than the other. “Rwandan genocide is worse than Darfur genocide!” Nope.
I am glad to see the murder of millions of born and unborn little girls finally getting some attention. Jimmy Carter is a doing good to bring attention to this, those girls need someone to acknowledge the crimes against them and bring it to international attention.
I think Carter meant the comparison in terms of numbers, not what lives are better. Makes sense?
I get that, Thomas, and that’s a valid point. It still rubs me the wrong way, though, you know? For example, the sexual abuse rate of little boys in Afghanistan is something like 4 times higher than it is in the US and UK, but that doesn’t mean the rape of little boys in the US or UK is less important than what happens to the boys in Afghanistan. Does that make sense? I get why people compare tragedies but it just rubs me the wrong way.
I think a good comparison is noting that the amount of murdered girls in China is equivalent to the amount of living females in the US. To get a sense of scale, you would have to imagine that every single woman and girl living in the US right now is torn limb from limb and dies. That’s some powerful imagery, SO MANY dead girls. Like I said I’m glad a public figure like Carter is finally talking about this, it needs international attention not just from feminist groups.
I’m especially glad that Carter actually mentioned abortion. Most people who focus on the murdered girls in Asian countries are pro-choice feminist groups, and they kinda dance around the sex-selective abortion issue. Carter just came out and said it. I really respect him for that.
Ooo that’s what I thought too, Jack. The comparison between the Holocaust made me pause.
Also because everyone compares everything to the Holocaust. There were other tragedies too and each one is horrific.
But wow! Way to just come out and say it. That’s awesome.
“Also because everyone compares everything to the Holocaust. There were other tragedies too and each one is horrific.”
I just think it’s weird that the war crimes in the Pacific theater (which killed MORE people than the Nazis did) are never brought up when people are comparing things to the Holocaust. Overall WWII caused the death of about 60 million people, like 2.5% of the worlds population at the time. But the 12 million that died in the Nazi camps (and the Jewish prisoners are the most focused on, so only about 6 million people) are the ones that are important? Doesn’t make sense to me. I feel like if people are going to use WWII atrocities to make a point they should mention them all. Like the 20 million dead Chinese civilians that no one ever mentions.
Right exactly! And even when people mention the Holocaust, they forget about the mentally ill, the physically handicapped, the gays, the gypsies, etc.
But yeah. In the Pacific theater there were just as big if not bigger tragedies. And why stop in the 1930s/40s? There have been and are just as big horrific tragedies in the world. Rwanda, Darfur, come to mind, among others. It’s so sad.
A Democratic President speaking out about the Abortion Holocaust. Big big news irregardless.
Yeah, Carter’s a little more old school Democrat. You know, the Dems who actually truly cared about social justice and equality. They tend to dislike abortion a lot more than our current crop of Democrats.
I really am happy he actually brought up sex selective abortion, I was getting discouraged about the ONLY public figures speaking out about Asia’s murdered girls basically ignoring the subject.
Jimmy Carter has never been a pro-abortion robot of the left:

I was going to order Carter’s book so I did a bit more research. I found out that Mr. Carter supports abortion in the case of rape when I read the above link.
I have also since found out Carter blames the Catholic Church for wife battery and gendercide because they do not allow women priests:
http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/jimmy-carter-catholic-ban-on-female-priests-leads-to-wife-battery-and-gende
Bunk. If my battering abusive ex had followed the guidelines of the Catholic Church, we would still be married. Glad I didn’t order Carter’s book and wish I had researched before I made my comments above.
Carter thinks that the Democrats should “tone down” their position on abortion in order to help win back Republicans who abandoned the Democrats.
If Carter is serious about stopping abortion, he would do well to learn more about the reasons why the Catholic Church doesn’t have female priests (She doesn’t have male nuns either btw).
Carter might have a bigger influence if he seriously considered abandoning the Democratic Party until they oppose all abortion unless the mother’s life is truly in danger.
Wow i had thought JC was pro abort all the way.
