Lunch Break: World’s highest skating in the sky
To give us a break from the daily grind…
Chicago’s John Hancock building now boasts the world’s highest skating rink. You can visit the rink located on the 94th floor this winter season. The rink surface is made of a synthetic material, suitable for indoor skating. To learn more about Skating in the Sky or other features of the John Hancock Observatory, go to http://www.hancockobservatory.com/en/.
Whether you’re a Chicagoland native or planning a vacation to Chicago, you may want to consider doing something different and fun this winter season.

Laura, I’ve heard the word “Chicagoland” a lot, listening to Chicago radio stations at night. What’s the origin of that? It reminds me that the “Hollywood” sign used to spell out “Hollywoodland”.
Hi Hans!
I found the origin of “Chicagoland” at this site:

I agree that “Chicagoland” can overreach into both borders of Indiana and Wisconsin. It’s hard to determine where the cutoff would be since some people commute long distances to work (northwest Indiana to Chicago’s loop).
OOPS, another “Chicagoland” term – the “loop”. lol
What “Chicagoland” radio stations do you listen to? As I’m getting ready for work, as well as going to and from work, I listen to WLS newstalk radio. And in the evening I listen to a combination of WLS and Moody Christian radio.
Hey Laura,
I see. It’s a lot like “the tri-state area” for N.Y.C. and Philadelphia.
Years ago I listened to Eddie Schwartz on WGN. I remember he used to complain about David Letterman wasting food in his bits (throwing watermelons off a building, smashing hot dogs in a drill press)
My favorite was Steve Dahl on WLUP. Hilarious. Once his son called and asked what he was doing, and he said: “I’m broadcasting, honey.” He and his cohorts did a great version of “It’s A Wonderful Life”.
And I often listen to WLS – “Don and Roma” for an hour before the sun comes up.
Back to the major moral issue of our time!
