all I can say i s UGH! As if abortion were not bad enough, now we have people there to comfort us as we are killing our kids…I never wanted my abortion so I can only come from that perspective, but just the thought of someone there comforting me while my son was dying makes me sick. This is all part of the de-stigmatization and making abortion “normal”…I’ve got news for them…it is never going to happen.

I really do want to know how it all works though. I can see her being there for the mother and overlooking ALL THAT IS GOING ON DOWN THERE. Just “you’re doing great honey. Keep it up. We’re almost done now. Good job!” As the life of a child is ended.
I contrast that in my mind to my friends who knew their babies were going to die shortly after birth. There was coaching and then a baby was bathed and dressed and loved and kissed and held until she died.
Where are my DOULAS FOR LIFE??!! Speak up! Be proud that you bring life, not cheer death.

How different from the midwives who get invited to first birthday parties, whose walls and bulletin boards are full of smiling, happy babies. I used to know a wonderful midwife that I lost touch with over the years. I hope she’s still doing well. + + +
Oklahoma is one of the most conservative states in the Union–this indicates to me that the world has really gone mad!
What a waste of taxpayers’ money.
Just like I and many other mothers would not want a physician who does abortions caring for me during my pregnancy, neither would I want a doula who assists at abortions. Seems to me the abortion industry already has plenty of people telling women “it will all be ok” as they have their babies destroyed at the hands of abortionists.
I’m curious about this “New Eugenics” thing, too. *googles*
Hmm…Wiki gives me this rather horrifying article. This journal article, from 2002, appears at first glance to make many of the responses to the Wiki article I would make. In fact, googling “new eugenics” brings forth a host of interesting-looking journal articles. Unfortunately, while it appears this term usually refers to the “liberal eugenics” of the Wiki article, there’s nothing to indicate if that is the sense in which Ms. Perez intends it to be taken, or even whether she thinks “New Eugenics” are a good or bad thing.

Oh yeah. I know his fate.
Ug, that New Eugenics makes me SICK!! My father has genetic Blindness (which I didn’t get but my son may)and my husband parents are both deaf (only one genetically so). And basically these people think that neither me nor my husband’s should have been born. And one doctor told me I should look into genetic selection before having kids. I almost threw up in his office. And when I was first pregnant, the docs asked all of these genetic disease questions and upon finding out my history and also my husbands family history of deafness–they recommended we go to Genetic Counseling, I asked more about it and basically they help you decide to abort or not. I then refused it I also refused all genetic testing of my other children and I quit telling doctors about my family history. If one of my babies is born with problems I’ll deal with it. I would actually be ok with a deaf or blind child, we understand the disabilities and are equipped to handle it because of our upbringing around blindness and deafness. If you know any young pregnant woman advise her against genetic testing. The tests are not foolproof and are often wrong!! They are useful for nothing more than convincing a woman not to give birth to her (maybe) imperfect Child.
Any talk of “new” (or old) eugenetics makes me nervous, and i don’t think I have to explain why!
Who pays these abortion doulas? And if abortion is just another surgical procedure, why all the hand-holding.

I can’t believe they want to host a symposium of that sort HERE in Oklahoma. Of course, Stillwater is a college town, so they’re pretty liberal-minded there…especially for Oklahoma.

Hey phillymiss I totally agree if abortion is just another surgical procedure, so great for women and has NO post-abortive trauma why the hell do you need a “doula” to hold your hand to tell you what a great thing you are doing? This is beyond sick, a woman too lazy to be a birth doula because of the long hours (that’s what she stated is why she started doing this) finds a way to hijack the role of a doula to be the “death angel” for an innocent unborn baby and a Auxshwitz (sp?) death escort making sure a woman doesn’t change her mind and NOT end up with a dead baby. Does she still get paid if the woman won’t go through with the abortion or heaven forbid if the baby survives a 2nd trimester mutilation and murder mission? The mission of every abortion “one dead, one wounded”.
“Reproductive justice” properly defined would mean protecting the lives and rights of those who have been reproduced.
This is just one more way in which advocates for prenatal homicide twist and distort logic and language so that they end up meaning the opposite of what they should mean.

She’s a blind guide full of verbiage which legitamizes her own historically baseless view of justice.
Folks – the reality is – Miriam is simply looking for attention – relishes the negative press, which to her is better than nothing at all. It puffs up her ego that she’s getting a reaction. She plays very typical liberal semantic games, wrapping up certain terms with others to leverage the shock value. Nothing new here.
Rather than demonizing her, leverage what she’s doing as an opportunity to educate others.
Abby Johnson mentioned something in her “unplanned” webcast that made a lot of sense. Simply being there as a presence, praying for her, rather than demonizing her, brought about a change of heart. The real enemy is the authorities and powers: Satan and his minions.
Miriam needs a serious change of heart, but that’s not going to happen if her heart is hardened by continual pounding by pro-lifers.

got some news for you Chris, some people are demonic and they will never repent. They have murder and avarice in their souls the killing and their ambivelance gives them a hard-on or in the case of women a twinge in the clitoris. Lets not be nieve about the evil side of the human spectrum. This ‘doula’ probably thinks she’s stretching boundaries and challenging predjudice and birthing a brave new world and other radical clapptrap. I don’t know her so I can’t speak of the reality of her soul. But I do agree with you some pro-life comments aren’t helpful even though they maybe ultimately truthful. There are more important things than winning an arguement—kind words for example. Some of the more sensitive post abortion women reading these blogs could be hurt.
