Aurora reneges, gives PP squatters’ rights
At the Aurora City Council meeting this past Tuesday night, Mayor Tom Weisner headed off citizen complaints about PP occupying the building with no occupancy permit by having a statement read:
So, “In early August” – at least 8 weeks ago – the City granted PP “prestock approval”… “to set up office furniture and equipment with limited staff training activities at the facility.”
Yet PP’s September 20 court complaint centered on its contention it was ready to open for business, i.e., office furniture and staff were ready.
The Aurora Beacon reported September 19:
City officials said Tuesday they will not ask Planned Parenthood’s staff to vacate their East New York Street building, despite the expiration of their temporary occupancy permit Monday.
“At this point, the city has opted to maintain the status quo,” said city spokesman Carie Anne Ergo.
Ergo said ordinarily, a building owner in violation of the occupancy permit ordinance would be asked to vacate, and most comply willingly. If they do not, the city usually seeks a court order to remove them.
However, since this case is already before a judge, Ergo said the city has decided to leave things as they are for now….
Aurora-based lawyer Vincent Tessitore wrote a letter to city staffers Tuesday, demanding the city enforce its ordinances….
On September 20 PP lost its motion to open for business. According to Aurora ordinances, PP should not be allowed on the property, never mind commit the higher offense of conducting business, which Aurora attorney Alayne Weingartz wrote Tessitore September 19 she would investigate (click to enlarge):

PP, of course, is pulling a fast one. This photo, taken September 5 and displayed on PP Aurora’s website, shows the “training” being conducted is not how to run the chop shop but how to conduct phone-banking to convince residents PP should be there and to portray adversaries as “extremists”:

The signboard reads:
Why Phone?
Services needed in Aurora Targeted by extremists
Need to show public support
These photos, taken 3 days later on September 8, show workers actually conducting phone-banking, clearly not in training. They were making calls, reading from a script, to drum up support. So, in fact, they were conducting business at the site at least 10 days before their anticipated opening.

This photo, also taken September 8, shows a worker at a laptop, holding a form.

These photos, taken September 4 and 8, again show workers conducting business, preparing signs which many photos later corroborate are being used to advertise PP

And on its website, PP Aurora still lists its business address and phone number.
The City of Aurora, to comply with its own ordinances, should force PP out of that building today. PP is using that building not only in violation of ordinances but also to undermine the City’s investigation and resident opposition.

So the city of Aurora is allowing PP to use that building illegally to fight the City of Aurora in investigating how PP defrauded the City of Aurora.
It makes your head spin, eh?
I’m infuriated. They are there under false pretenses and need to be evicted NOW. It’s always proceedure to suspend activity during an investigation. Once again, the rules don’t apply to Planned Parenthood, who can buy their way out of anything!
just sounds like the city is not overreacting to a minor issue.
PP and abortion mills in general seem to be able to operate under their own special set of rules. That is hypocritical of them considering how they always bellyache how they want to be treated like any other business.
“PP and abortion mills in general seem to be able to operate under their own special set of rules.”
If it wasn’t for the anti-abortion demonstrators, this clinic would have opened on time, just like any other business. It’s not getting special treatment, it’s getting a harder look.
At the end of the day, however, Aurora will get it’s new health clinic.
Hi Hal, I agree that the mill will open eventually. I am surprised it stayed closed this long. I hope this delay enabled some babies to get their death sentences overturned.
Carrie,
I got an e-mail that Eric Scheidler sends out and he says that it has changed some womens minds and they have chose life!!!
Well praise the Lord! Some lives have already been saved because of this. God love you, Rosie.
I bet PP is putting a ton of pressure on the council behind the scenes. Someone on another site said they believe Aurora could get sued from both sides. Yes, there is legal precedent to deny occupancy, but that was just one doctor who didn`t have hundreds of millions of dollars to hire a fleet of lawyers like PP does. Certainly the Scheidlers know what it is like to fight the abortion industry behemoths. Long and painful.
PP has the money for mega smear campaigns to ruin the lives of the council folk. Plus they have a sympathetic media that will report their claims implying guilt on anyone they accuse. PP is very sophisticated, remember Phill Kline.
Council is probably trying just to comprehend the cost in legal fees let alone budget for them and run the city. I doubt any would even want reelection after this wretched experience.
I look at those pictures of all the hard working PP supporters and all I can think of is
BAAAAAA BAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAA
What a bunch of sheep
“I got an e-mail that Eric Scheidler sends out and he says that it has changed some womens minds and they have chose life!!!”
See, even if the killing mill opens, some good will come out all of the hard work the pro-lifers have put in.

BAAAAAA BAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAA
What a bunch of sheep.
More like lemmings.
Actually, the sheep are the young women in crisis pregnancies who PP herds into their baby killing centers with all the rhetoric of an evil shepherd.
Let us beseech the Good Shepherd to call His sheep back to his fold.
Everyone, please: Pray, pray, pray.
Amen, Paul.
See, even if the killing mill opens, some good will come out all of the hard work the pro-lifers have put in.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” I Cor. 15:58
Jacque,
yes, so true.
Did someone say lemmings?
Paul,
Everyone, please: Pray, pray, pray.
Ahem,
We’re trying Paul. Believe me, we’re trying…
Sheep rule.
If it wasn’t for the anti-abortion demonstrators, this clinic would have opened on time, just like any other business
Which would be a shame on the city, just as it’s a shame on all those German cities that they allowed murder factories to operate while they blithely went about their business.
Killing children ought not to be “just like any other business”. Treating women as if they’re so many stray cats to be kept from breeding ought not to be “just like any other business”. Trying to exterminate the poor and the disabled and minorities ought not to be “just like any other business.”
Evil shouldn’t get a walk just because select people choose to be blind to it.
At the end of the day, however, Aurora will get it’s new health clinic.
It’s not a freaking “health clinic” any more than the gas chamber is a “respiratory treatment center.” The place exists to eliminate people that the elitists think ought not to be permitted to reproduce. It makes me furious that people support these hatemongers. What have disabled and poor people and minorities ever done to YOU that you want to see them sterilized and aborted out of existence?
sure it’s a health clinic. They provide many health services, including termination of pregnancies.
Hal, just because you are thankful that your wife’s OB absolved you from any responsibility, there are PLENTY of men who would never stand for abortion!! REAL MEN DO NOT SUPPORT IT! COWARDS DO! I would love to kick your “doctor’s” ass!
Isn’t this PP going to be close to other businesses? I doubt they will want them around. Give them hell pro lifers!!
The doctor didn’t absolve me of any responsiblity. I had no need for absolution. (is that the word?)
You seemed worked up today Heather.
hal, just a little.
