New poll/old poll
Earlier this week, long-time commenter prettyinpink asked me if I had to choose a Democrat presidential candidate, who would it be? I thought about which of them I least disliked, but I couldn’t bring myself to select the best of the worst.
This exercise made me consider which of them I disliked the most, however, which I found interesting. So that is this week’s poll question for you:
Which of the presidential candidates do you most dislike?
This week you can select 2 answers. Pick the Democrat and Republican you most do not want to see become president.
Here are the results of last week’s poll, indicating a scare majority of pro-lifers thinks we made progress in 2007….
And if you voted, you can enlarge this map to see your brightly colored flag:
Please make comments about these polls, here, on this entry, not on the Vizu poll website.

Psalm 9:11. Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion! Declare HIS deeds among the people.
12. When HE avenges blood, HE remembers them; HE does not forget the cry of the humble.
So Jill, which ones are they?
My least favorite is Bill Clinton.
Andrew,
I second that…If I go to hell, it will be the Clintons fault…
Quote of the day:
The candidates I dislike the most are in no danger of being elected. I found this exercise a waste of time as well as pointless.
Why don’t you answer your own question Jill?
I’d have to say Hilary Clinton and Romney, though I was certainly tempted to say Ron Paul or Huckabee as well.
Anti-abortion activist loses final appeal in molestation case

Anti-abortion activist John Burt is going to remain in prison for a long time.
Burt lost his final appeal this week in the Florida 1st District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee.
He was arrested and charged in 2003 with four counts of lewd or lascivious child molestation and one count of lewd/lascivious misconduct. He was sentenced in 2004 to 18 years in prison.
Burt, who lived in Santa Rosa County at the time, was denied his final appeal Wednesday, according to assistant state attorney supervisor Harmon Massey.
The case drew national attention when Burt, who was tied to anti-abortion violence, was accused by a 15-year-old girl in his care at Our Fathers House, a Christian-based boarding school for pregnant teens.
The facility was licensed under the Florida Association of Christian Child Caring Agencies, which allowed it to bypass standard Florida child-care licensing regulations regarding boarding schools.
The victim fled the lockdown facility and went to officials. With no proof to support the allegations, the Santa Rosa Sheriff
SoMG –
I’m glad he is in jail. It is where he belongs. He is definatley not Pro-Life for two obvious reasons: molesting a pregnant teen and violence. I hope he serves every minute of his sentence.
Charming. The father is a conspirator in the molestation of his own daughter by aiding the perp in avoiding prosecution. Simply charming.
He ought to be serving time for conspiracy to commit murder–he twice sent his associates (Michael Griffin and Paul Hill) to murder abortion doctors.
I guess there’s all kinds of justice in this world.

The Mafia would be proud.
Hilary Clinton and Mike Huckabee.
Anybody who thinks those with AIDS ought to be locked up is a bloody moron. Anybody who espouses conservative doctrine but increases state spending by 62% during their governorship also completely fails at life and would fail miserably at being the President. -> I think y’all know who I’m referring here.
And Hilary just makes my skin crawl. *shudder*
“I second that…If I go to hell, it will be the Clintons fault…”
MK, this doesn’t sound like you. A joke? We have only ourselves to blame if we end up in Hell, right?
“MK, this doesn’t sound like you.”
You know what the problem with this is, anyone can call themselves anyone and nobody would know.
I don’t get the quote of the day. It’s like my friends neighbor is in the mafia right, so he has this young son. One day another neighbor was driving and accidently ran over the son and killed him. The neighbor who killed him felt so bad he did not feel he could face the family at the funeral so he didn’t go. The dude who was in the mafia thought that was insulting so he had the guy wacked, well no one ever saw him again. I know it was obviously a tragic and sad situation but you shouldn’t just kill someone for an accident they are obviously sorry for.
Jill Stanek is my least favorite democrat. You, Jill Stanek, are a horrible democrat. If I didn’t know any better I would say you lean to the right : P
@Jill:
The problem though, is that this blog system is not set up to be able to ban people, where they can’t come back with another name. Every time I banned them, they could easily get back on, and they would, just to spite me. I had to go in and delete their posts, one by one, and it was extremely difficult to do that, especially when they stay up late, and I don’t.

We’d love a picture of you, although your “name” pretty much says we won’t be getting one…lol.

No problem Anon,
Can I ask you whose computer you are on? Would they mind you telling me? I admit I’m curious…

Anon,
Never mind, I see whose it is. I was wondering where they had gone too. Well, you never know, you might get hooked yourself…lol.

Dear Jill,
Could you please state what the privacy policy is for your site?
“Could you please state what the privacy policy is for your site?”
*Jill Stanek burst into my house*
Jill – Jess is pro-abortion!
My Mom – I told you not to go one the internet.
Me – ah, Jesus
My Dad – Damn it! I work all day and I have to come home to this!? All of you get out of my house! Out!
Anonymous, are you confused about the fact that MK was able to see who’s computer you were on? I’m not exactly sure what the question is referring to.
If that is what you meant, this is not an invasion of your privacy. Administrators and moderators of virtually all discussion forums/blogs can view the visitors/commenter’s IP address. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/I/IP_address.html
Hal,
“I second that…If I go to hell, it will be the Clintons fault…”
Yes, I was joking. Hating someone is not very Christ like, and I’m afraid I come closer to hating those to than I have come in my life.
So I’m mostly joking when I say if I don’t make it into heaven, it will be because I never found a way to “love” the Clintons…
Confused,
As a moderator it is my job to know who is on the site to the best of my ability. With the HisMan thing going on (which I do not find funny) I am keeping track as best I can of EVERYONE posting here.
You’ll notice that I did not in anyway say whose computer was being posted from. Only I know. And it would be reckless of me to divulge that info.
Thanks Bethany,
We must have been posting at the same time…
Jess,
I think the quote of the day is saying that to turn turn a blind eye to murder is as bad as being the murderer.
Jess,
Your house sounds fun;)
I have a question. Who is going to The March for Life?

What question are you referring to? I am not concerned over whether anyone knows whose computer I may be using. I have the owner’s permission. Why do you ask?
Carla,
Jill, Jacqie, John Lewandowski, Sandy and I are. I don’t know about anyone else. John is going on his own, but Jacquie, Jill, Sandy and I are staying together…Are you going?
Anonymous,
Both Bethany and I thought it was you asking about the privacy policy but it was someone named “confused”…sorry that that got addressed to you…our mistake. We thought it was brought on by my knowing whose computer you were using.
I’m so jealous of all you people going to the March for Life…I wanna goooo!! :said in most whiny tone possible:
@Elizabeth: I just wanted to tell you that your daughter is ADORABLE! :D
Former Baseball Star Burke Masters will be saying Mass at Sacred Heart Parish/Lombard,IL on Sunday, Jan 13th at 11AM. He will tell his story from being a star baseball player to becoming a priest in the Joliet Diocese. See you there!

Mike
Jill…
I’d love a real answer to my question.
I picked the only 2 obvious candidates who would be the worst because their effect on the nation would be the worst:
Kucinich and Giuliani
Kucinich has policies that are FAR WORSE than Hillary Clinton’s. Any decent comparison bears this out.
Giuliani is not a Conservative and is completely opposed to VALUES VOTERS which are the base of the Conservative, pro-family and pro-life voters out there. If he were to get elected it would justify running with his positions in future elections and make it completely unreasonable in the minds of Republicans that we need a president who is strong on the social issues that we values voters recognize are the most important.
I really hope Michael Savage runs for president!!
PIP,
Maybe this will help…
If you had to pick one of these candidates who would you pick…
1. Stalin
2. Joseph Mengele
3. Pol Pot
This is how it feels to us. You are asking us to pick the least of three really, really sick and twisted individuals. To us, they are right up there with the worst human beings in history. All three appear to be meglomaniac sociopaths to us and that’s why we just can’t pick which is the lesser of three evils. Sometimes evil is so great, that you can’t even see the “degrees”…
I cannot make it to The March this year. I shall join the whining of Elizabeth…I wannna goooooooo too!!:) Next year!!
PiP,
The Republican I dislike the most is Giuliani, as you might expect. FYI, my second least favorite is McCain.
Now, as for Democrats, when you asked me the question the other day (which of them would I vote for if I had to), I deduced:
I dislike Obama the most – he’s most radical on abortion and most stupid on foreign policy and the war.
Hillary and Edwards tie for second and have policies indistinguishable from one another.
Kucinich is scary.
Now how could I pick one from that list? I really couldn’t.
@Jill: Why don’t you like McCain?
“If you had to pick one of these candidates who would you pick…
1. Stalin
2. Joseph Mengele
3. Pol Pot
This is how it feels to us.”
MK, you really seem off this week. Obama, Edwards, and Clinton are decent, smart and trying to sincerely help our country. You may disagree with some of their positions. I have endured 7 years of a presidency that in my opinion has been a disaster on several levels. I loath the current president, but I don’t think it’s proper to compare him to Pol Pot or Stalin. Geeze. Have we Americans really become so entrenched in our views that anyone who thinks differently is evil? I expect that from Jasper, but not from you.
By the way, it’s one reason I support Obama, I think he can bring us together.
I agree with Hal on some level with this. It is not right to compare the candidates with Stalin or Pol Pot just how it’s stupid to label Bush “Hitler.”
Jill, thanks. I would have taken that answer in the first place.
Hal,
I didn’t mean to make it sound like I was comparing any particular candidate to any particular “evil” person.
But I do think that the three candidates on the democratic side are really, really bad. So bad, that like the three dictators that I named, I cannot even discern degrees of badness. After a certain point it doesn’t really matter.
Obama’s willingness to sacrifice live children in order to retain the “right” to abortion is beyond evil…
Hillary offends my sensibilities on so many levels that I can’t even get my head around her. She offends me as a woman, as a mother, as a Christian, as an American, as a person…I cannot think of a single “good” thing about her.
You’re right. It’s not like me. Which is why I said that I’ll probably go to hell for not being able to let it go…(that’s a joke, I don’t really believe people are sent to hell for feeling STRONGLY about politicians…)
As for Edwards, I’ll grant you that he’s not evil but after watching the youtube video where he spent fifteen minutes gluing every hair into place, I have come to the conclusion that the man is in love with himself and would not have my countries best interests at heart.
Maybe a better example would be “which Rock Band would you rather listen to?”
As I don’t like hard rock, I would be hard pressed to tell you which one I like the least. Listening to hard rock of any kind would be an exercise in misery…
So would I listen to the Scorpions, Metallica or Pink Floyd…the answer would have to be that I hope either the stereo would break or I’d go deaf first.
I should also add that as far as Obama goes, minus the abortion issue, I don’t think he has been around long enough (either in a political setting or on the earth) to run the country. Perhaps I would feel differently in 8 years. I can’t help feel that people are voting for him because of his charm and boyish smile.
I sympathize with you on the Bush issue. I had to deal with Bill.
Tell me Hal, If George Bush jr., Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter were running, which one would you vote for?
I’d vote for the Bushling again.
I can’t stand the guy, but he’s not as virulent and horrible as Rush and Coulter.
Good question MK. Unlike Rae, I’d vote for Rush. He’s smarter, and although truly conservative, doesn’t seem incompetent. The country would survive Rush. (Make no mistake, I’d never vote for him)(I won’t even comment on Coulter, as I just took you to task for unfair and over-the-top comparisons)
Looks like we’re in for an interesting election year. My advice MK, don’t despair. In the big picture, we’ll be okay no matter who wins. We both think some are better than others, but we both survived the last 16 years, that should prove something.
MK, take a peak, if you dare:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/
Hal,
Anne Coulter was probably not playing fair…but you get the idea now. And yes we’ll survive…
Hal,
And for the record, I’d have a hard time pickin’ out of “my” three choices too, lol.
I wish I could take a little bit from each candidate to make a “whole” new one…
First I’d take Hillary’s femaleness, and add Obama’s charisma, then throw in Thompsons common sense approach, McCains knowledge of the military, Rudy’s in your face attitude toward anything he doesn’t like, Huckabee’s prochoice stance, Ron Pauls tax stance, Romney’s ability to bullsh** (this will come in handy when “workin” the room), and wrap it all up in Edwards hair…I think we’d be okay then…
There’s the old MK back. finding a little good in everyone.
(but I’d add something about Edwards’ passion for helping those in need and fighting evil corporations before I’d mention his hair)
Hal,
I don’t really know anything about him…I only saw that video and can’t get it out of my mind.
To be fair, I’m sure he has some good qualities.
But truthfully, when I hear a candidate is pro choice, and actively so, I don’t much listen to what else they are about. You can’t really help hearin’ about Obama and Hillary, but Edwards you would really have to do some digging…
Every time I hear a debate, I change my candidate.
Politics really isn’t my forte. There are so many topics I know nothing about.
I’m torn on immigration. I know our health care system is in a lot of trouble, but I hate the idea of socialized medicine. Economics is like a greek word to me. While I hate being at war, I know enough to know that I don’t really know anything, and I don’t feel qualified to say what we should or should not be doing. I know the terrorist threat is real, but as to what to do about it? As sergeant Schultz would say “I know nuthink”…
I don’t know…why do you like Obama? Or do you just say that to get a rise out of us?
I really do like Obama, MK. He seems to me a different kind of politician who doesn’t pander to the voters. He seems to respect those he disagrees with, and generally earns their respect in return. He is certainly a liberal, and certainly pro-choice, but I don’t think he’s as divisive as Hillary, Bill, or Bush. I have hope that when he becomes POTUS, he’ll really find a way to unite our nation towards solutions to real problems.
I don’t expect you to vote for him given his views on abortion, but perhaps you will respect him for his other strengths. He’s much more than charisma. Here’s an example:
* * *
Obama chides liberals for trying to cleanse the public square of religious expression, and he tells conservatives that the separation of church and state benefits religion first and that in a democratic society Christians need to appeal to universal values when arguing moral positions.
Then he recounts a moving story from a pro-life, Christian doctor who voted for Obama in the 2004 primary. The doctor was disturbed that Obama’s website said he would fight “right-wing ideologues who want to take away a woman’s right to choose.”
The doctor defended pro-life views and opposed Obama’s characterization of pro-life proponents. That characterization, the doctor said, would prevent him from voting for Obama in the general election. “I do not ask at this point that you oppose abortion, only that you speak about this issue in fair-minded words,” he said.
Obama says, “I felt a pang of shame. It is people like him who are looking for a deeper, fuller conversation about religion in this country. They may not change their positions, but they are willing to listen and learn from those who are willing to speak in reasonable terms
Hal,
The fact that he is able to feel shame is definitely a step in the right direction.
As I said, I more oppose him because I really think the terrorists have only just begun and I don’t think he has been around long enough to deal with them. I’m not one of the nuts that hoards water and gas masks, but I do think that the threat of radical Islamists is real. Not people of Muslim faith mind you…but extremists. Extremists of any kind freak me out. I see this as a very real concern and I’m not sure Obama is up to it…Much as I like Huckabee on the social issues, I don’t think he is up to it either. McCain could handle it, but the rest of the country would probably fall apart. Is it just me or do you get the feeling that John McCain sits around playing with tin soldiers?
Honestly, I don’t hate Obama, tho I do hate, hate, hate his stance on abortion. Hillary on the other hand…okay, don’t get me started.
many of us share your view of Hillary. I’m not sure why she offends people so much, but I might vote for McCain over her. (and I like Bill)
Have a nice evening.
MK,
something else to consider about Obama:
he has vowed to visit the middle east, and talk with even our enemies out there, to help develop diplomacy as part of a stronger foreign policy.
I think he will be extremely effective considering his ability to relate to people, having a multicultural background and education in Islamic religion and culture, and to think critically about situations.
Hillary on the other hand is fantastic at alienating people.
PIP, so doesn’t Condi Rice. so what’s Obama going to do, take the troops out of Iraq when progress is being made? He’s going to Invade pakistan to get Bin Laden too, going against Mushareef who is keep the nukes out of the radicals hands.
Obama is an empty suit. clueless.
I notice PIP steered cleared of the infanticide posts on Obama…..
Yanno, I’ve seen plenty of people talk smack about Hillary Clinton on thiis board, but I’ve never seen anybody make a concrete complaint about her.
It always sounds like the sort of grumbling you would hear about the smartest, prettiest, most popular girl in High School. (And if it sounds like grumbling, it usually smells like envy…)
“PIP, so doesn’t Condi Rice. so what’s Obama going to do, take the troops out of Iraq when progress is being made?”
Why don’t you go to his website and find out? His plan is very impressive I think.
Also I never complained about Condi.
jasper,
you must not have been working very hard.
Laura,
Like Romney, much of what she says stinks of bullsh*t.
Guys please keep my friend Brigette in your prayers. I just found out that my fellow Campus Kitchen shift leader is in critical condition after a car crash…
Like Romney, much of what she says stinks of bullsh*t.

That’s “stink of bullsh*t, Madame President” to YOU.
(She said, knocking wood and lighting the votives in her Hillary shrine…)
On a separate note, Isn’t it freezing where you are? Cars and physical damage go slowly when it’s cold. I’m sending positives vibes to Brigette.
“That’s “stink of bullsh*t, Madame President” to YOU.”
LOL that’s right, I’ll get it next time!
“On a separate note, Isn’t it freezing where you are? Cars and physical damage go slowly when it’s cold.”
It’s pretty cold. She was driving on black ice, lost control, and swerved into the opposite lane of traffic. She has been in a coma but is now squeezing and moving hands in response to those around her. They also recently found that the areas of the brain they feared had lost oxygen are in fact alive and receiving oxygen supply. So that is good news.
Thanks for the vibes ;)
Here is the newspaper article about her:
http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/kathleennelson/story/856FCA08AFE7E5E0862573CE00101A92?OpenDocument
Laura,
Her first strike is she married Bill. Her second strike is her crazy health care plan. Her third strike is her stance on abortion. Her fourth strike is the way they both behaved in the white house. (An awful lot of people died mysteriously…) A lot of stuff “disappeared” while they were there. Including people. Her fifth strike is she’s still married to Bill.
.
MK, all are valid reasons except the insinuation that “people died mysteriously.” There’s enough real reasons (policy and behavior) for you to form your opinion. Don’t jump on the crazy cart.
By the way, I think Bill is great. Her health care plan wasn’t all that crazy (we have to do something!) and I agree with her stance on abortion. I just don’t think she’ll be able to get anything done, reach across the isle, etc. She wouldn’t be a bad president, but I think Edwards or Obama, or Biden, would be better
Oh Hal,
You’re just wreckin’ all my fun these days…
:)
mk and Hal –
Here is an interesting article on Hillary by Camille Paglia a Democrat. She contends that Hillary hates men. I found it insightful.
http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2008/01/10/hillary/
I drive by that “claustrophobic” house on a daily basis. It’s huge. But I realize they meant the “atmosphere”!
Hmmmm….something to think about. I wonder where we could get info on her father…
I especially like the conclusion:
I will vote for Hillary if she is the nominee of my party, because I want Democrats appointed to the Cabinet and the Supreme Court. But I plan to vote for Barack Obama in the Pennsylvania primary because he is a rational, centered personality who speaks the language of idealism and national unity. Obama has served longer as an elected official than Hillary. He has had experience as a grass-roots activist, and he is also a highly educated lawyer who will be a quick learner in office. His international parentage and childhood, as well as his knowledge of both Christianity and Islam, would make him the right leader at the right time. And his wife Michelle is a powerhouse.
The Obamas represent the future, not the past.
