Lunch Break: Angelina Jolie’s sons – let them eat crickets!
by LauraLoo
While on a trip to Cambodia, Angelina Jolie introduced sons Maddox and Pax to the delicacy of crickets! Jolie was then surprised when they began eating them “like Doritos.” Skip to 6:40 on the video for that discussion.
Jolie shot the video for Louis Vuitton’s Core Values campaign. It features Jolie’s take on Cambodia, where she adopted her oldest son Maddox, as well as its culture and scenery….

I seriously love her. She is an amazing woman. She really is. And her kids always look happy!
I think it is important for her and Brad to teach their adopted children about the places they came from. They will need a sense of cultural history and ethnic identity as they go to schools that are mostly white.
“I think it is important for her and Brad to teach their adopted children about the places they came from”
Yea, like eating crickets, very important.
She’s a phoney, obnoxious hollywood liberal.
Actually, I heard crickets and their relatives are good sources of protein. Grasshopper stew, anyone?
Okay, this is really catty, but why do her lips always look chapped?
MEOWWWWW . . .
The woman is compassionate beyond belief. She’s also politically moderate, not liberal. She is a wonderful, intelligent, generous, and beautiful person. I can’t understand why people hate her.
“Yea, like eating crickets, very important.

Dude, what has she ever done? She actually put her money where her mouth is and adopted kids, seems to do a good job with them. She seems like a nice women. And she is gorgeous. ;) I think she is awesome.
I work in the entertainment industry. This woman is far, far from phony. She’s the real deal. Heck, even Colin Powell loves her. She is beautiful inside and out. I don’t worship her, and I don’t think she’s perfect but who the heck is? She’s wonderful. We are near the same age, and I am highly impressed with what she has accomplished and continues to accomplish for the benefit of others. She is good for the planet.
I agree 100% Mary Lee. I have always wondered what happened between her and her father but she is a good person as is Brad. I don’t find her as attractive as most men do but her actions make her beautiful.
Yes eating crickets is important. If a rich Cambodian couple adopted a American child and they came to the US to visit it would be a high crime to not get that kid a chilidog, a slice of apple pie, and a Pepsi. If they were visiting New York the kid would need a coke and a slice, down south it would be peach cobbler and sweet tea, up here in the pacific northwest it would be salmon steaks and crab puffs, in the southwest is would be wavos rancheros and a dos XX…. Food is a huge part of culture.
She’s a homewrecker who has babies out of wedlock. Ah, the truth.
She’s not a homewrecker, Brad is. Anyway, it’s over now, and I wish them the best. Her good works far outweigh the bad. And “out of wedlock”? What is this, 1950? I think women get really jealous of her. But it’s not worth arguing about. I love her, you don’t, that’s okay.
Also, I had my baby “out of wedlock.”
My wife and I have a 17yo daughter but we have never been married… Been “living in sin” for a long time now.
She is not a home wrecker… that would imply that Brad and Jen had children, they don’t. They simply broke up, no home to be wrecked. Also Brad chased her not the other way around.
Even Jennifer Aniston has said she believes Brad when he said he didn’t cheat on her with Angelina until they were separated. He still cheated in his heart, of course, regardless. I have no strong feelings about her either way but she has never struck me as phony. People lump her in w/ phoney baloney Madonna just because they both adopted overseas, but Angelina adopted Maddox before it was “trendy” and did it pretty much as quietly as her fame would allow. She said it changed her life and her behavior certainly backs up that claim – she did a complete about face after becoming a mom.
The liberal bashing on this blog is getting really old. Liberal doesn’t equal pro-choice, and people are entitled to their political belief.
Using words like “liberal” to condemn an entire political ideology when we are talking about one vital issue only serves to denigrate the importance of this issue. I condemn abortion. No other issue is as important, so we shouldn’t lump them together. People can have good faith disagreements on the environment, economics and national defense. We can NOT have good faith disagreements on killing children. If the most otherwise “liberal” person on the planet condemned abortion and wanted to help me save babies, I would gratefully accept their help. This infantile liberal-bashing just drives away our allies or, if they stay and work in the movement, just serves to unjustly make them feel unwanted or uncomfortable. Plus, it’s just annoying.

THANK. YOU. JACQUELINE!
Biggz, I agree about what you’ve said in your posts for once. It is nice to find common ground once in a while.
Umm Courtney, I’ve had two children out of wedlock still not married. Was asked to have an abortion. I faced my responsibility and learned a lot. If I would have had an abortion, no-one would have known anything. When I hug my son, I sometimes still cry at what abortion would have done. Some Christians need to decide what sin is worst.
I am still in awe of the fact that Mary was pregnant BEFORE she was married. a very interesting detail….Couldn’t God have waited for her to be married before sending the angel?????

True enough. But when someone is “liberal”, and they vote according to that ideology for candidates who are standing on the platform of legal abortion, it’s counter-productive to our entire movement. That’s where my problem starts. Promise me they’ll never vote for a candidate that supports legal abortion, and I’ll never say another word about it.
“Promise me they’ll never vote for a candidate that supports legal abortion, and I’ll never say another word about it.”
I’m a filthy liberal hippie pinko commie (quote from my conservative wife ;)) and I have only been old enough to vote in one presidential election, and I voted for McCain (much as I despised Palin). I voted for one Dem in a local election, because the Repub candidate was so absolutely ridiculous that I couldn’t vote for him in good conscience. I generally vote pro-life unless forced otherwise. Really, this disgust towards leftists isn’t really doing the movement any good.
Jacqueline,
As Judge Judy would say ‘You’re full of baloney’. Liberals suck and so doesn’t that lousy actress Angelina Bradalina or whatever the hell the frauds name is.

Case in point, Jasper.
“When I hug my son, I sometimes still cry at what abortion would have done. Some Christians need to decide what sin is worst.”
Chantal, just because one bad thing (abortion) is better than another bad thing (creating children without father), not choosing to add another bad thing to an existing bad thing doesn’t negate the lesser bad thing. You know, it’s totally possible to not do EITHER bad thing rather than using the fact that you could have done something worse to justify doing something bad to begin with. Surely a rapist that didn’t kill his victim saying, “I could have killed her and she wouldn’t have been able to identify me. No one would have known anything,” doesn’t imply that his NOT killing the victim somehow negates raping her. He still wronged her- he simply didn’t make it worse. Likewise, you not killing your children doesn’t negate conceiving them into problems and disadvantages they could have otherwise not had if you had exercised better judgement- you just didn’t make it worse. I am very glad you didn’t make things worse, but it doesn’t make the first wrong decisions correct ones and you shouldn’t be supporting incorrect decisions. The fact that you have not one, but two children at an unfair disadvantage for life makes me wonder if you even think what you claim to be sinful is really a sin at all. How many children do you ultimately want to grow up without their father in the home? If you are proud of facing up to your responsibilities, admit your responsibility in the first place.
Furthermore, the audacity to use the ever-virgin mother of God as to support sex outside of marriage (something Mary did NOT do anyway) is crossing a line. The Holy Spirit conceived Jesus in the womb of Mary as an unwed virgin in great part to prove Jesus’ divinity- had she been married, everyone would assume she was not a virgin and the child was her husband’s. God certainly did not do it this way to issue support for sex outside of marriage- something that hurts women and children which He clearly condemns for that reason.
But when someone is “liberal”, and they vote according to that ideology for candidates who are standing on the platform of legal abortion, it’s counter-productive to our entire movement.
I agree- and I must be honest that I doubt the supposedly pro-life convictions of people that claim abortion is murder but still self-identify with political parties who support abortion. To be pro-life is to vote pro-life. Jack is actually pro-life. My godsister is actually pro-life, although she hates the conservative stance on most other issues. Her convictions are true, so she’s not willing to advance her cause in other areas with the blood of babies. So, yes, you can be liberal and pro-life (as long as you vote that way). It’s about priorities.
Back on topic- I would be very proud of my kids if they had the hutzpah to eat crickets. I was proud of my two little girls for eating a crawfish Cajun-style, pinch the tail and suck the head. Good on those kiddos and their mother for giving them those cultural experiences.
“Good on those kiddos and their mother for giving them those cultural experiences. ”
Save money and bring them to McDonalds instead. Eating bugs isn’t going to help them at all, she went to cambodia for her own selfish reasons , “hey look at me, I care about the poor” .
“In light of her psychiatric history and her admitted self-mutilation and drug use. No reputable agency would allow her unless there was something untoward at work. A pathological liar through and through.”

I love it when people bash on liberals, and then complain about how rich people spend their money. Seriously Jasper. Some random forum is your reliable source?
Jasper, how does it feel to know so much about total strangers and hate them when they have no clue who you are and never will? I’d feel pretty pathetic.
Tip-toeing around controversies left and right, I just want to note that her lips: not Bo-tox. I saw a picture of her at ten with the same lips.
There. Carry on. :)
I am still in awe of the fact that Mary was pregnant BEFORE she was married. a very interesting detail….Couldn’t God have waited for her to be married before sending the angel?????
I hear this all the time and it’s not quite accurate. Most people misunderstand the Jewish wedding customs of the time. At the time of the conception of Jesus, Mary and Joseph were betrothed according to ancient Israelite law, not just engaged in our modern sense. This was a covenant that was legally binding, the Kiddishin. The nissuin, or actual wedding, came a year or so later, when the groom took the bride to their home, and the marriage was consummated.
This means that Joseph could have broken the betrothal only by divorcing Mary (i.e. “put her away” – some translations actually use “divorce” here). During the betrothal, if proven unfaithful, the woman could have been stoned to death for adultery (but only if there were witnesses). Surely Joseph decided at first to divorce her without stating a reason to avoid suspicion of adultery on her part. If he didn’t say he suspected adultery, people would just naturally assume they had jumped the gun on marital relations.
Yes, it is strange the Mary and Joseph were put into this kind of embarrassing situation as part of God’s plan. An excellent way for them to learn trust in God! At any rate, Mary couldn’t really be called an unwed mother. I also believe that both infancy Gospels make it clear that she and Joseph were married before Jesus’ birth.
Jesus had an Earthly Father. Saint Joseph was there at Christ’s birth and raised Him. Most children conceived and then born out of wedlock today stay fatherless their whole lives and may or may not even have a step-father. It’s erroneous to compare the greatest mother in human history who is exceptional in a million ways to anyone, let alone cheaply attempt to exploit her circumstances to imply that sex outside of marriage resulting in a huge injustice to the children is somehow acceptable to God.
Too many children end up without fathers by circumstance as it is (death, for example), so no one should make that fate for their child by choosing to have sex outside of marriage. The pro-life movement is just trying so hard to make sure those children aren’t chopped into pieces by a suction machine that we give gold stars to single mothers who are single mothers because they conceived their children while single. This is not a laudable thing. It’s a very sad thing with lifetime consequences for children that had nothing to do with the lot forced upon them.
Jasper, Female First is notorious for hating Angelina and making things up. So using a quote from there is like pro-aborts using the Guttmacher institute as a source. Angelina has grown into a beautiful person. The fact that she is the object of venom and hatred makes me love her more. She just keeps doing her thing, helping people, building hospitals and schools…..she is really amazing.
Jasper, you are a small, bitter person who comes on here only to spout nasty hateful things about people you don’t know or to stalk Alexandria. You seem to be full of nothing but anger and hate. Please get help.
Len,
You were doing good until the stalking part. I stalk Alexandria?
I’ve noticed that often, the only time your face on Jill’s blog is to post a reply to Alexandria’s comments. To either question her “pro-life-ness,” to accuse her of not being sincere in her convictions or to ask personal questions about her own abortion experience over and over again. Other than that you rarely comment. It’s kind of creepy, actually.
You are a sweetheart, Jasper.
Hey Jasper, no swearing. And Len and Jasper, I think you need a cooling off period. Please take a break from commenting?
Not sure what I did but make an observation? I didn’t think that violated any of the rules. Maybe I was steamed because Jasper posted a personal insult of me on an earlier thread, which I thought was against the rules, but whatever, it wasn’t bad and I’m not that worried about it.
Len,
sorry about that.
That woman in the picture… she’s not the Octomom, is she?
I would be very proud of my kids if they had the hutzpah to eat crickets. I was proud of my two little girls for eating a crawfish Cajun-style, pinch the tail and suck the head. Good on those kiddos and their mother for giving them those cultural experiences.
Right on! +1
