Quote of the Day 8-13-10
The city of Baltimore is the only city in the country where an ordinance requires pregnancy counseling centers to disclose if they provide birth control or perform abortions. Critics say the rules are a violation.
The secret back story is that these centers are often just fronts for anti-abortion activity that ultimately manipulate women’s choices by refusing to give them the whole story.
To me, it seems unconscionable to offer no abortions or options to women seeking advice on pregnancy prevention….
~Sasha Brown-Worsham, as quoted by The Stir, August 7.

If a woman “needs” an abortion, then clearly she’s already pregnant.
I’d LOVE to see an abortion clinic that actually gives women the whole story. Unfortunately, the PC lobby is too busy trying to WITHHOLD information from women regarding fetal development. They’re busy fighting those nasty, eeevil ultrasound laws.
If ignorance is bliss, the pro-choicers must be in ecstasy.
Of course abortion centers inform women of all the post-abortive sequellae including:
Increased incidence of Breast Cancer
Hemorrhage
Perforated uterus, bladder, colon.
Sepsis
Increased incidence of Placenta previa in future pregnancies
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Increased future miscarriages
Increased Cerebral Palsy in future offspring
Increased incidence of drug and alcohol addiction
Increased incidence of suicide
Increased incidence of divorce
Increased incidence of dying a violent death
Lack of ability to bond with future children
There’s a reason why the centers are called CRISIS Pregnancy Centers. The crisis is a woman facing a perceived lack of support structures in her pregnancy that all too often lead to women feeling that they have no other choice but to abort and then face the above guantlet.
Poor Sasha. The greatest burden of all is willful ignorance.
Well put, Gerard.
After the Holocaust, the word “chimney” took on a different, evil meaning. In a Post-Abortive world, all will acknowledge the word “choice” took on a different, evil meaning.
I should have said “During” not “After” but the edit feature doesn’t seem to function.
The point, one most pro-lifers do get, is that “choice” equals “death,” and those who advocate for “choices” only want one to prevail. There are no secrets on either side.
This quote is also factually wrong. The ordinance requires centers to disclose when they DO NOT provide abortions, not when they DO. When pro-life advocates tried to amend the law to apply to abortion businesses too, the amendment was shot down.
“If you don’t want women to get abortions, then do something to help them!” is something we often hear, but look at the resistance and attacks that happen when we do. Planned Parenthood and NARAL have practically declared war on the pregnancy centers.
Like it’s so terribly hard to figure out where you can get an abortion, or to walk into a convinience store and buy a box of condoms. Pregnancy centers exist because some women think they have no choice BUT to have an abortion.
Oh no! How horrible! A poor pregnant confused woman might accidently blunder into a CPC and be informed that they don’t do abortions but can help her to raise the baby or give him/her for adoption ! Shock Horror!
You’re right, ninek! Pro-aborts keep shouting if pro-lifers are ready to adopt all aborted babies and pay for raising the ones mothers decide to keep, but as soon we try to do that, there’s an outrage of “oh no, this is not acceptable, they don’t offer mothers the choice of abortion, they’re so evil”. I don’t really understand what they want…. Or maybe I do – forced “choice” of abortion for everyone, if you have an unplanned pregnancy – you MUST have an abortion, it’s your only “choice”…. Grrr. Makes me so angry.
Especially when abortion clinics are actually the ones who don’t offer women ANY choices except abortion….. Has anyone gone into PP or similar establishment while pregnant and was asked “Would you like to have this baby? Would you like the baby to be adopted? Do you need help with your pregnancy/childcare?”…. No. It’s plain “Cash or card?”
Biggz and Jake and others constantly argue that PP DOES offer help but I know none of my friends who went to PP were offered any help. They were just offered an abortion…cash first, of course. CPC’s offer al their services FOR FREE.
And are these the same people who weep with emotion over their “trust women” pins? So don’t you trust women to be able to go into a CPC and make her choice? Are women that dumb that they would go into a CPC and 9 months later while in labor think “Oh I thought I was getting an ABORTION at Birthright!” I think women can figure it out Sasha. Although it IS very confusing as to where to buy condoms….Walmart, Target, Kmart, Rite Aid, CVS…so very confusing!!! There is just NO ACCESS to birth control!!!!

LOL, Sydney– I know, right? :D
Although I am Pro-Choice…I am not Pro-abortion. Personally I would not have gotten an abortion. But if a woman goes to a CPC, and after hearing All her options, and still chooses and abortion…that is her choice. It is not mine to make. Why must we assume that ALL woman who go to PP are NOT aware of their choices…………………why do Pro-lifers assume that this is an easy way out and an easy decision to make and the ladies making this awful decision are uneducated????
SOME women who go to PP are underage girls who do not have the biological facts yet and PP keeps misleading them. Many pro-lifers are post-abortive and heard the BS that PP shovels out first hand.
In 1960, Dr. Mary S. Calderone was Planned Parenthood FA’s medical director. In the American Journal of Public Health, July 1960, she said the following:
“..when a young woman seeking an abortion is given the chance of talking over her problem with a properly trained and oriented person, she will in the process very often resolve many of her qualms and will spontaneously decide to see the pregnancy through, particularly if she is assured that supportive help will continue to be available to her.” Dr. Calderone went on to say, “Aside from the fact that abortion is the taking of a human life, I am also mindful of what was brought out by our psychiatrists, that in almost EVERY CASE. abortion, whether legal or illegal, is a TRAUMATIC experience that may have severe consequences later on.”
Jean, this is from Planned Parenthood’s own medical director. What happened since then? Greed. It seems to me that Dr. Calderone is describing exactly what crisis pregnancy centers actually do: counsel the woman and give her time to breath and think. When a woman walks out of a CPC with a handful of brochures or some baby supplies, her baby is still alive. When a woman walks out of PP after an abortion, her baby is dead and that decision can never, ever be undone.
I was told it was “just a bunch of cells” when I was 10 weeks along. Hmmm. Also shown a filmstrip of a bunch of red circles. We ALL saw the same filmstrip no matter how far along we were.
I was also asked, “Do you have a job? A car? A nice place to live? A spouse or boyfriend? If you don’t have any of these things what kind of mother will you make? Will that be Visa or Mastercard?”
PP preys on women in crisis and deceives them into thinking abortion is the BEST choice in their situation. They flat out lie and lie by omission. Abortion clinics offer ONE choice-abortion. If a young scared pregnant girl goes to them for help but DOESN’T want an abortion what do you think they offer her? That’s right. The door.
80% of women who view the ultrasound choose life for their babies. Why then does PP FIGHT all ultrasound legislation?
Jean,
Pro choice to do what exactly?
ninek,
Do you recall the teenager who had a pregnancy test in high school and within the hour had a taxi cab ride from the school to the abortion clinic where she had an abortion?
Rational thought went right out the window. No pressure there I’m sure.
