Quote of the Day 9-27-10
Either every human being is a person, regardless of his or her ability to demonstrate a particular trait or demonstrate their utility and convenience; or we can destroy any one at any time for any reason.
One only needs time to come up with this reason and a story that will convince others to cooperate in or endorse the destruction.
~Monsignor Ignacio Barreiro-Carámbula, interim president of Human Life International, Catholic Exchange, September 25

It must be nice to live in a world of absolutes… Unfortunately the rest of us have to live in the real world…
“It must be nice to live in a world of absolutes… Unfortunately the rest of us have to live in the real world…”
So there are no absolutes in the real world?
2+2 = 4
Abortion = murder
Yep, I can live with those kind of absolutes. Once you start saying one group of humans is disposable, then all humans can and will be disposable.
Too bad they don’t really exist. In this life there is only one absolute, we all must die. Everything else is up for debate. If you wish to live your life with absolutes then you will miss most of it and understand none of it. Enjoy…
“Too bad they don’t really exist.”
Absolute statements absolutely don’t exist? Is it an absolute statement that absolute statements don’t exist?
“In this life there is only one absolute, we all must die.”
So since there is only one absolute (that we all must die) then the different statement “In this life there is only one absolute” is not an absolute. So there isn’t only one absolute in life.
“Everything else is up for debate.”
Is that statement up for debate? It is “something else” so it must be up for debate. So the idea that everything else is up for debate is definitely up for debate.
“If you wish to live your life with absolutes then you will miss most of it and understand none of it.”
According to your statements above, this is not an absolute statement, and it is up for debate!
Biggz, you’ve made my night, bro. Your short paragraph was like an exercise from the “chapter review” in the “Self-refuting Statements” chapter in a logic 101 course.
Bobby,
I loved your response to Biggz. Good job :-)
Bobby,
You made my night with that post. Awesome!! :)

Maybe we all don’t live forever, but we don’t all must kill our unborn children. You can live in atheistic darkness, that’s your choice. But keep your murder off my unborn body.
