Pro-life vid of day: Rand Paul discusses media bias on abortion

by Kelli

At the Susan B. Anthony List Campaign for Life Gala & Summit on April 16 in Washington, D.C., Senator Rand Paul discussed going on the offensive about abortion:

When life begins, there is a role for state… but you can’t have liberty if you don’t protect where your liberty originates from, and that’s your right to life….

We have to push back. Believe in what we believe in, and do it in a way that gathers more people to us.

Pro-choice poet: Women in Medieval times had it better

mcclureby Carder

I started writing poems with an intentionally flippant treatment of abortion around that scary time before Obama’s second election when Todd Akin was talking about legitimate rape. I was still working on them when Hobby Lobby denied its employees birth control coverage and when Texas Senator Wendy Davis heroically opposed a Republican attack on women’s health clinics.

You know. The horror of it all continues to our current moment. Everyone likes to compare this right wing faux religious extremist push to medieval times, but I wonder if Medieval times were not better for women….

It’s a fundamental human good for a civilization that depends on women in the workforce and as managers of households (which are micro-economies) and agents of their own sexuality have access to safe, medical abortions. If we claim to be a sexually egalitarian society, then duh.

~ Poet Monica McClure, describing how she feels Medieval times were better for women than they are now, in an interview with the Huffington Post, April 16

New Stanek poll: Do women’s hormones preclude them from being President?

I have a new poll question up:

Do womens hormones preclude them from being President?

The concern was raised by Go Ape Marketing CEO Cheryl Rios last week, to which GOP presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina responded, Not that we havent seen a mans judgment clouded by hormones in the Oval Office, a zinger obviously aimed at former President Bill I Did Not Have Sexual Relations With That Woman Clinton.

This is so true. Clinton was but one of several male presidents who were apparently ruled by their male hormones.

Nevertheless, since no one will know who you are when you vote, do you honestly think theres merit to Rios concern, the age-old implication being that women are prone toemotionallyinstability? Vote in the poll on the lower right side of the home page.

Here were the results of my last poll regarding GOP presidential picks. Already the choices are old. Ted Cruz isnt even on the list, and others are sure to fall off in the coming weeks and months. Well revisit the question later. But at this point, Ben Carson rules:

O Lord, you are so good and kind, so ready to forgive, so full of mercy for all who ask your aid.

Stanek weekend Q: Do you agree “abortion-centered feminism is dying”?

imrs

Quoting from US News & World Report, April 17:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in the opening days of her presidential candidacy and in the veiled statements that preceded it, suggested her platform would focus at least in part on the economic issues that affect women – equal pay, paid family leave, minimum wage – which anti-abortion activists take to be a sign that they’ve already begun to gain the upper hand.

“Abortion-centered feminism is dying, if not dead,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser on Thursday, arguing that the 2014 election cycle proved that Democrats could not win by attacking Republicans for being anti-abortion.

Do you agree “abortion-centered feminism is dying, if not dead”?

Delighting in death

Snapz-Pro-XScreenSnapz033

Why is it that the people most vocally committed to causes connected to death (abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia) are often the same who are committed to progressive sexual causes? And why do abortion advocates frequently see it not as a necessary evil but as a positive good?…

Make no mistake: The giddy, grinning delight which the Gloria Steinems of this world display concerning abortion is driven by more than just the desire to stop rape victims having unwanted children. It is powered by the grotesque thrill which holding power over life and death brings with it….

Some people seem to take a pride in such things which cannot be explained by merely pragmatic criteria such as convenience and choice. Something deeper, something more spiritual, something more sinister, is at work here.

  • At Women’s Rights without Frontiers, Reggie Littlejohn shines a light on another problem in China – baby trafficking. 37 babies were recently rescued from a baby-selling ring:

According to CNN, human traffickers were recruiting pregnant women in the area willing to sell their babies and hid them in the factory until they gave birth. Then, after the women had their babies, they gave the newborns over to the traffickers and left.

A Chinese police official, Chen Shiqu, said that the incident is a “new criminal pattern” in which child traffickers take pregnant women to a specific place to give birth. Currently, police have 103 people in custody who are suspected of selling or buying children.

  • The Survivors discuss why they attend the San Diego Earth Fair, despite encountering opposition. Their goal on Sunday, April 19, is to “help bring an end to abortion” by spreading awareness and talking about abortion with the public.
  • Wesley J. Smith has two excellent articles about the slippery slope of assisted suicide, which is taking hold in the medical community. “Do no harm” appears to have gone by the wayside. The first highlights a recent survey which found that high percentages of Dutch physicians “would kill cancer patients, and 1/3 would be willing to euthanize the mentally ill.” The second discusses mental health practitioners’ “radically changing ethics” in favor of “rational suicide” among the healthy elderly.
  • Saynsumthn’s Blog writes about the recent interview between Debbie Wasserman Schultz and FOX’s Megyn Kelly in which DWS sticks to the Democratic Party mantra as she defends third trimester abortion.
  • At ProLife365, Kevin Kukla shares the latest study on Plan B and whether it is an abortifacient – and why it is distributed at Catholic hospitals:

This study should immediately put to rest the practice of Catholic hospitals to prescribe Plan B to rape victims within their emergency rooms. Such a practice should be ended everywhere.

If a child may die as a result of a woman taking the Plan B pill, I am not sure how anyone in good conscience could encourage she take it.

  • ProWomanProLife spotlights a pro-life investigator who uncovered the reasons why a governmental agency in Canada decided to revoke funding for pregnancy care centers:

Pat Maloney, Canada’s pro-life investigator, uncovered another interesting fact: Remember when Fake Person complained to Trillium, and then Trillium revoked funding to Pregnancy Options and Support Centre in Sarnia?

Guess who the CEO is of the Ontario Trillium Foundation? Andrea Cohen Barrack [pictured]

And guess who the Chairperson is of International Planned Parenthood for Canada? Andrea Cohen Barrack

The one and the same person.

  • Pro-Life Action League rejoices that a video showing a patient being hauled away from an abortion clinic in Little Rock, Arkansas, ended up saving the life of a baby whose mother was considering an abortion:

On Friday we learned that a pregnant woman who was considering abortion saw this video. After viewing this video and seeing how little the abortion industry truly cares for women, she chose life for her baby!

The League is happy to have been a part of saving this life, but we could never have made this video if faithful pro-lifers were not on the scene with cameras to capture the ambulance transport as it happened!
