  • Wesley J. Smith says the French are trying to bring euthanasia in gradually, by first offering to sedate terminally ill patients until death. Smith discusses the difference between palliative and terminal sedation, and explains why terminal sedation is not so humane:

That’s killing by slow motion because it involves putting a patient into a coma and depriving them of food and fluids so they dehydrate to death. Pushing terminal sedation is egregious for another reason: It confuses people as to whether the legitimate pain controlling technique – palliative sedation – is killing by another name.

  • Wesley J. Smith comments on the new California bill that would require pro-life pregnancy resource centers to refer clients for abortions. California already opts out of abortion reporting and allows abortions to be performed by non-physicians. If you thought they couldn’t get any worse, you would be wrong. From AB 775:

    (a) A licensed covered facility shall disseminate to clients on site the following notice in English and in the primary threshold languages for Medi-Cal beneficiaries as determined by the State Department of Health Care Services for the county in which the facility is located.

    (1) The notice shall state: “California has public programs that provide immediate free or low-cost access to comprehensive family planning services (including all FDA-approved methods of contraception), prenatal care, and abortion for eligible women. To determine whether you qualify, contact the county social services office at [insert the telephone number].

  • ProLifeBlogs links to a CNS News report about pro-abortion Hillary Clinton’s recent speech in which she claimed every life matters. Clinton was, of course, not speaking about the preborn. (After all, she “told the audience at the sixth annual Women in The World Summit last week that ‘religious beliefs’ must be changed for the sake of abortion.”) No, she was speaking about cases in which Black men have been killed by police officers. Clinton is a good example of the compartmentalization of abortion proponents. Perhaps if preborn babies could vote or donate to political campaigns, they could warrant some consideration from her.

  • John Smeaton comments on the defeat of a sex-selection abortion ban in the UK. Opponents of the ban were apparently afraid it might “confer personhood on the foetus.”

  • Wesley J. Smith examines a New York Times article which celebrates “a woman who waxes ecstatically about choosing the characteristics of her baby – apparently including his sex – as if she were buying a camp shirt at Tommy Bahama.” Smith mourns the fact that our society has become so self-centered and consumer-focused “that we presume the right to both have a baby and the baby we want.”

  • At New Feminism, Jennifer Lahl decries California’s new bill that would allow birth certificates to become politicized “by allowing each parent to self-identify as mother, father, or simply ‘parent.'” Lahl argues that this could potentially do a great disservice to “adoptees and those born of anonymous donors”:

The birth certificate legally documents who a child’s parents are. That is, who the birth mother and birth father are. It is a record of who is genetically related to a child. It is not intended to be a means by which adults decide what they want to be called. Rather, it answers the question, who can this child’s beginning be traced to? Who gave birth? Who died?

  • Pro-Life Action League reports on the now-closed All Women’s Health in Chicago, run by abortionist Mandy Gittler (who was responsible for the death of Tonya Reaves at a Chicago Planned Parenthood). All Women’s has been accused of scamming women who visited for pap smears and health exams.

  • Secular Pro-Life lists 8 things that After Tiller left out of their federally funded PBS broadcast.
  • At LifeSiteNews.com, Dustin Siggins produces some interesting insights he gleaned from an After Tiller Google+ Chat, even though the panel had no representation from pro-lifers. One of the abortionists, Dr. Susan Robinson, made chilling statements of twisted logic, so often seen in those whose life’s work is ending others’ lives:
