House to vote on 20-wk abortion ban TODAY – 2nd anniversary of Gosnell conviction

Baby Boy BThe photo, right, is a close-up of the nape of the neck of a 28-week old baby boy whose spinal cord was “snipped” to kill him by late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell after the baby survived his abortion.

Today marks the two-year anniversary Gosnell was convicted for first degree murder of three babies – of likely thousands killed at his Philadelphia clinic over the course of decades. Gosnell was also convicted for involuntary manslaughter in the agonized death of Karnamaya Mongar by anesthesia overdose during her 2nd-trimester abortion.

  • Kermit Gosnell’s attorney Jack McMahon is upset with Fox News for airing a special on Gosnell:

“It’s outrageous,” McMahon told reporters who had gathered to await a verdict Monday. “I’ve never seen anything so irresponsible in journalism.”

After McMahon aired his complaints to Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart, the judge instructed jurors to notify his staff if any of them had seen or heard details of the show during the weekend. He also told them it should not factor into their decision-making.

Kermit who? Abortion zealots still claim emergency access to clinics unnecessary

20120121-191413One of many complaints abortion supporters have against clinic regulations, which they call TRAP laws – Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers – is a requirement for wider doors and hallways than clinics apparently usually have.

“At no point does the width of doorways have any bearing on the medical treatment that’s being administered,” griped Planned Parenthood of Indiana Executive Director Betty Cockrum to jconline.com.

  • A Pennsylvania man named Ruben Velazquez has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend and unborn child. He faces two terms of 5 to 40 years.
  • A woman who believes proposed legislation in North Dakota would prevent her from getting in vitro fertilization has allegedly threatened the life of a state lawmaker. The legislation appears to attempt to limit the number of embryos created in an IVF cycle to the number that will be implanted:

Richland County State’s Attorney Ron McBeth on Friday charged Nicolette Jean Knudson with threatening a public servant, a class C Felony punishable upon conviction with up to five years in jail, $5,000 or both.

Court records obtained by Forum Communications show authorities allege Knudson called Sen. Margaret Sitte, R-Bismarck, at 3 a.m. Feb. 27 and threatened to kill Sitte if she interfered with her attempts to get pregnant via in vitro fertilization.

  • A record number of people wrote in to oppose the HHS Mandate regulations:

Three years after Congress approved President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA), contraceptive care remains its most controversial provision, drawing not only more comments than any other regulatory proposal on any subject government-wide, according to an analysis of federal regulations on Sunlight’s Docket Wrench.

More than 147,000 people and organizations have made their voices heard over the debate, most of them opposing the provision that requires that federal agencies have interpreted to mean that women have access to preventive services–including contraception – at no cost.

  • Delaware Online is covering Delaware Right to Life’s call for an investigation into a Delaware Planned Parenthood abortion clinic where 3 patients have been taken away by ambulance in the last month. The article also mentions the assault on Rae Stabosz:

Delaware Right to Life officials are calling for an investigation and eventual closing of the Planned Parenthood operation on Shipley Street, saying members of their group have witnessed three patients being taken by ambulance from the clinic in just over a month’s time.

A fourth woman, who had returned to the clinic after complications from an abortion five days earlier, was accompanied to the emergency room by an anti-abortion sidewalk counselor, said Nicole Collins, president of Delaware Right to Life. That counselor told group officials that part of the fetus had been left inside the woman’s uterus, Collins said.
