Happy Daddy Day to all the wonderful fathers. Nice pics Jill!
A very beautiful family Jill. Happy Father’s Day t all
My dad’s name is Jack too.
super Bethany,
you and Diana had quite some chat! Can say that Diana’s and my relationship online has been mighty ‘bumpy’. [She was on this site and did not reveal she too had had an abortion until last week. To tell the truth, Diana made me scared – she has an educational background that is unbelievably superb – and yet is more comfortable calling herself pro-choice.]
But engage her, you did …. praise Our Lord! It really is fantastic when someone trusts you enough to confide. Peace and much Love to you and Diana!
Do you people put notches on your belts everytime someone tells you they’ve had an abortion?
Cameron, that is such a strange question. That’s like asking you if you put a notch on your belt everytime someone chooses to have a baby. It makes no sense.
We are saddened everytime we hear about abortion. And it definitely doesn’t in any way give us a sign of success or accomplishment when we hear someone has had an abortion. You know that already.
John, thanks for the peace and love. :-)
I just don’t see the big deal that she “confided” in you regarding her own abortion. And John makes it sound you just earned merit badge or something.
Would it be less signifcant if she had still opened-up to you but never had an abortion?
Are you sure that’s what he was talking about?
What I mean by that is, I’m not entirely sure exactly what he was referring to, it sounds like he is basically just happy to see Diana opening up lately. She already admitted the abortion weeks ago. I don’t know why you think that John is referring to the abortion admission and not simply the fact that Diana has been very open altogether?
Also, I don’t see that it really would matter even if that was what he was referring to. He was simply trying to be encouraging, from my perspective. You and all of your pro-choice friends “blow kisses” to each other and give each other “high fives” and “YOMANK’s” whenever you say something that you think is clever or funny.
Why is it that someone tries to say something encouraging on our side and you claim that we’re being boastful? I didn’t see anything boastful or prideful in what John said.
Amen Bethany.
Cameron, some women don’t want to talk about their abortions because of shame. So what do you care if Diana is opening up to Bethany. Maybe she needs someone to talk to.
Happy Father’s Day everyone!!
Jill,
You have a solid family and probably all due to your Dad. Congrats to him on the legacy he is building. He looks very happy.
Cameron, abortion leaves a wound in a soul despite what all the pro-aborts believe. The would can only heal by confession. That’s rock solid truth. A mother cannot have an abortion and not be negatively affected by it. Remember the wages of sin (it’s effects and results) are death) and the way out is Christ (but, the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord).
The purpose of this site is not only to try to help people keep from having abortions but if they have, to provide a way of healing.
You’re not helping.
Tell your Dad Jack Happy fathers Day.
Jill,
you have a wonderful family….
Jill,
I just received my son Philly, teh AF pilot and I wanted to share it. It’s not braggin, it showing whate living right can produce. Here it is:
“Hey Dad…I heard a really good sermon today in church…please watch it at this link:
http://www.christchapelmaconga.org/CCWeb/MainContent/MainPage/stream.asp?Recid=06_17_07am.wmv
After sitting through it this morning I just thought to myself – I have an awesome Dad.
I love you Dad, thanks for being there to guide me and encourage me, and most of all, for putting good seed in me.
I love ya
Philly”
Sorry,
This so moved me that I couldn’t type:
It should have read:

HisMan,
I can only hope I get a letter like that from my son some day……
Bethany,
Yes, I’m probably making too much of what John’s saying any way you look at it. It’s good that there are few prolifers here that the average person can actually tolerate a conversation with.
Chus,
Cameron
You will Jasper, you will……
Bethany,
Thanks. I actually left a response to your response on the same archived thread. If I’d known I was the topic of discussion elsewhere, I would have peeked in earlier. :)
John, I swear I’m not scary!
HisMan,
I’m not “wounded”, and I think I have a better idea of what’s going on inside my head than you do. So, it’s not a cold hard fact that all women who’ve had abortions are wounded. And if I did want to go to confession, I’d hit up one of the many jesuits in my very own philosophy department. I could even pick the language I was going to confess in!
Now, to stop rampant speculation, I will say that I’m glad that Bethany and I had the conversation we did. It really helped me to understand fully just what I was so ticked off about, and also to understand a bit more about where Bethany is coming from.
Oh… and I didn’t realize I wasn’t “open” before. Sorry. :(
Abortion does wound the soul. Some women don’t acknowledge this. I have read about women putting on a lot of weight after their abortions. Some say that they didn’t want to be or feel attractive to men anymore. Some turn to drug abuse, alcohol, compulsive behaviors, promiscuity, etc. All in attempts to block their emotions out. Some commit suicide. This is fact!
Diana,
Excuse me?
Abortion wounds.
To deny it is simply foolish and prideful.
You may have a lot of knowledge but to apply it properly requires wisdom.
Without a proper and healthy fear of the Lord it is impossible to have wisdom.
To deny that abortion wounds is an indication of a lack of a fear of the Lord.
What a waste of talent.
So many mixed messages HisMan.
To reiterate Diane, you can only be wise if your wounded and scared of something that’s not there.
I have a hang nail… and sometimes I think I might be exposed to carcenogens in the lab, but I don’t know if they’re actually there. Does that count for anything???
HisMan, Excuse me? You know that much about my individual psychological states? Are you psychic? Empathic? Because as someone whose never met me and has never engaged in any sort of serious conversation with me about my emotions, you would have to have some serious supernatural powers to know what I’m feeling.
I’m also curious, HisMan, why applying my knowledge of language and logic (as that is my main field – philosophy of language) requires a fear of your god. Could you explain?
Jill-
You have abeautiful family, I am suprised though that your son has a tattoo. Never would have thought anyone in your family would have “ink” on them…
“I have a hang nail… and sometimes I think I might be exposed to carcenogens in the lab, but I don’t know if they’re actually there. Does that count for anything???”
lol. I was actually wondering if it would be cool if I was afraid of the goddess Diana (there’s some weird psychology for you), or perhaps Amun, but before he was fused with Ra. Ra don’t scare me! Would it be okay if I only feared one and not the whole pantheon?
LOL
Yes, Ra ain’t all that since SPF 45 and 100% UV protect’n FosterGrants. We fearlessly worship now.
Not to offend or sound snippy, but I would think Diana would know how she “really” feels better than anyone on here.
To assume that anyone else could possibly know what she’s thinking is arrogant.
OK HisMan, Heather, Diana,
One of the proverbs says that the beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord. The word ‘fear’ here must be placed in some kind of context. [If I were to use the word ‘gay’, you would presumably think it referred to homosexual, but until 15 years ago this word never had such a context. Many, many words like ‘grass’ shift their meaning over time.] So the word ‘fear’ has evolved out of its context, IMO.
An old and wise friend used to link thoughts that what is ‘feared’ is loss of love. I thought (and still think it strange), although there really is nothing that quite has as powerful emotional impact as your own child having a devastating illness. ‘Fear’ is just a word here.
In somewhat the same way, in our age we do not fear … or so we like to believe. In Jesus’ time, there were only very few sources of light besides the sun. So it makes abundant sense to speak of God as dazzling; a burning bush; flames of lightning … power. Contrast this with darkness … or rather our ‘fear’ of darkness. We, who live indoors ‘fear’ the brightness of light outdoors.
In many ways the word ‘fear’ seems most proper. Maybe fitting it in context makes the proverb even more meaningful.
…….. and Diana, it is not so much that you are scary …. I ‘feared’ over my own inadequacy. Knowledge also is classified as luminous … even today we speak of ‘brilliance’.
Thanks, Heather B.
John,
You are far from inadequate. :)
I recognize that the meaning of ‘fear’ has shifted. There used to be an idea of healthy respect and reverence attached to it, from what I understand. Cameron and I were just having a little fun.
No problem, Diana. It annoys me slightly when people assume they know so much about a person they’ve never met.
If I came across as at all snippy, that’s why.
I really appreciate the level headed discussion about what “fear” means, however I have to disagree with John. The proverb is incomplete and out of context.
“The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
or
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
or
“The commencement of wisdom [is] the fear of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy Ones [is] understanding.”
If you look at several translations, it’s clear that they are talking about something that is progressive, and a growing process. I think what the proverb says by invoking fear, is that we are generally intimidated by that which we don’t understand, and embracing that which would otherwise be reluctant to embrace is the first step to not only over coming that fear, but learning about this thing that we do not know or understand.
IMO.
Well that’s curious…
HisMan can’t defend his interpretation of bible verse.
Though unlikely, perhaps he hasn’t revisited this thread since yesterday.
fantastic Cam,
your concepts of progression are very profound … It is so interesting to note that ‘fear’ appears in so many corners of the human psyche … we even fear/ are-excited by newness … whether it be a new country or a new roller-coaster ride or, or meeting a new highly-significant person …. let’s say Cam was to meet the Queen of England … would you find a calm person? What if we said ‘You know Cam is going to meet Britain’s top-fag.’ Not only would you be perplexed, but aside from not sounding anti-gay, just how do you answer?
Now pretend that instead of meeting the Queen, you are actually meeting with someone 1000X as important. A nervous wreck (from fear) is likely what you would find. All this is avoided in Christianity because we are ‘children of God’.
Jesus reveals that God is my Abba – my Daddy. To replace fear [Be not afraid …] by putting our tiny arms/hearts in His and we then walk together, as one. It is as important that I think of you as my brother, as Hisman is my brother. [Coming from a family with many brothers, I have a fair idea that being a brother can at-times be a ruckus affair … I did my share of fighting when we were kids.] Diana, Less too are my sisters … this is a fact – not a dream … I am to live with it … because of it … or, in-spite-of-it, you choose.
Thank you for the acknowledgement John.
