burstyn4.jpgActress Ellen Burstyn was in town attending the Toronto Film Festival the week September 6-14 in part to attend a screening of the classic movie in which she starred, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
While being interviewed on CFRB radio, the 74-year-old actress was asked what was the lowest moment of her life.
And for the first time, she publicly disclosed it:

Burstyn: You know, I guess, I hate to talk about this on the air, but having an abortion. You know that was really an extremely painful experience.
Interviewer: Did you feel you didn’t have a choice?
Burstyn: At the time I was just young and dumb, I didn’t really want to have a baby then. It was the wrong thing to do and I really didn’t understand that till later. That was very very painful, that was probably the worst. I try not to allow regret to settle over me like a shroud, because I think its an unhealthy way to live.
