Planned Parenthood court documents
Planned Parenthood Chicago’s motion for an emergency injunction will be heard this morning at 9:30a in U.S. District Court in Chicago. A pro-life attorney will observe and report.
Here are the legal documents. Note PP and Gemini are now public BFFs:
Notice
Motion
Complaint
Brief
Like a bad neighbor, PP is there.
First it lied so people could die.
Now it has the gall to ask the federal court to grant it the occupancy permit Aurora is withholding pending an independent investigation into whether PP compromised the integrity of Aurora’s permit process by shading the truth or outrightly lying in its communications through its alter ego Gemini Development….
If the federal courts grant PP an exception to the usual requirements for truthfulness in dealing with one’s government officials, who’s next in line to get such a license to lie?
Contrarily, PP’s complaint states, “Aurora’s actions, however, are not related to any legitimate municipal concern” and Aurora is “depriv[ing]… PPCA and Gemini’s constitutionally protected right to equal protection under the law.”
“[I]f plaintiffs are prevented from opening the Facility,” continues the complaint, “its patients will have to seek alternative care in more expensive hospital settings or travel more than fifty (50) miles roundtrip to obtain services from the nearest PPCA facility.”
Never mind the four independent abortion mills already in DuPage County.
Kicker: PP is requesting an award for damages and for Aurora to pay its legal fees.
Aurorans are encouraged to contact Mayor Tom Weisner today via phone, fax and email to say you support the legal effort against PP and the financial cost to do so.

I may not live in Aurora but I went ahead and emailed the mayor anyways.
I gave him a piece of my mind about “Planned” Parenthood.
Ruth, it can’t hurt. I would suggest nonAurora emailers also offer to donate to a legal fund, if they are so inclined and able.
Even their name is a lie. How can anybody trust them?
Who died?
I know that Planned Parenthood does cancer and STD screenings, HIV and Hepatitus screenings and passes out condoms to keep people alive every day.
I don’t remember anyone dying…
I don’t live in Aurora, but I just emailed the mayor words of support. I also offered to make a donation towards expenses.
My first reaction was negative about the lawsuit, then I read it and found it pretty compelling. I can’t wait to see the opposition from the City.
Laura: “Who died?

..this has to be the QoTD !! LOL!
I went to Planned Parenthood for an HIV test (well actually they came to my campus). I also got a bunch of condoms from them and those condoms sucked, don’t use them just pay the $14 to get good ones. I don’t use condoms anymore anyway. Well I’m not even having sex right now so there you go.
Oh no! I’m so sorry it wasn’t popping up so I kept pressing post!
Sorry you guys.
Oh no! I’m so sorry it wasn’t popping up so I kept pressing post!
Sorry you guys.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
See what happens when you stop having sex?
Things stop popping up and buttons get pressed over and over!
Laura:
You have a pretty short memory. Erica Goode ring a bell??
Holly Patterson ring a bell?
Ahahaha!
Yeah, thanks Jill.
Yeah, Planned Parenthood condoms are the worst of the worst. I doubt this is accidental.
Laura:
You have a pretty short memory. Erica Goode ring a bell??
Holly Patterson ring a bell?
People who don’t follow their aftercare instructions and go to their follow-up exams die.
Does anyone watch “Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels”? Rich man, finest surgeons in the world, family and film crew supervision, and the moron lands himself back in the hospital by ignoring his aftercare instructions.
Short of chaining them in the basement, how do YOU plan to save Gene, Holly and Erica from their own bad judgment?
What, did Gene Simmons have an abortion? WOW, that will be the day when men can have abortions!
What, did Gene Simmons have an abortion? WOW, that would be the day when men can have an abortion!
Oops! Sorry for the numerious posts! This thing was not working properly.
“Oops! Sorry for the numerious posts! This thing was not working properly.”
Looks like Ruth isn’t getting any either! lol
Laura, you wouldn’t have said the same thing had those women died of illegal abortions. It’s a double standard.
lol, yeah with three kids already, just having had my third 3 months ago, I don’t mind at ALL! lol
Yes, I don’t see how Gene Simmons has anything to do with how those women died.
Unless he took the RU-486 pill, then come back and talk to me.
Why oh why are we blaming Edrica and Holly? The brilliant “doctor” @ PP proceeded with a procedure despite the fact that Edrica had an infection. Sometimes infections cause confusion. Maybe she was too sick to realize that her health was deteriorating. Do we know if Holly Patterson was required to follow up? If so, what were HER circumstances?
Where would they go for after care after their illegal abortion?
An Open Letter From the Parents of Holly Patterson – Death by RU-486
November 6, 2003
Dear Sir or Madam:
The Alameda County Coroner’s report has validated what we already believed to be true. Holly has died from an RU-486 chemical induced abortion. There are no quick fixes for a pregnancy or magical pills that will make it go away. Our family, friends and community are all deeply saddened and forever marred by Holly’s tragic and preventable death.
Holly lived as an adult by law for only 19 days, yet she became pregnant when she was just 17 years old. We now know that she learned about her pregnancy in the second week of August and was so distraught over her unplanned pregnancy that she sought help for depression from her family doctor on September 10, 2003 – the very day that she began the drug induced abortion process.
Holly was a strong, healthy, intelligent and ambitious teenager who fell victim of a process that wholly failed her, beginning with the 24-year-old man who had unprotected sex with her, impregnated her, and then proceeded to facilitate the secrecy that surrounded her pregnancy and abortion. Under this conspiracy of silence, Holly suffered and depended on the safety of the FDA approved pill administered by Planned Parenthood and emergency room treatment by Valley Care Medical Center where she received pain killers for severe cramping and was sent home. On Saturday and Sunday, Holly cried and complained of severe cramping and constipation, and even allowed us to comfort her but could not tell us what she was really going through. On September 17, 2003, she succumbed to septic shock and died while many members of our family waited anxiously, yet expectantly in the Critical Care Unit for her to recover until we were forced behind the curtain when it was clear that she was dying.
And in those last moments of her life feeling utter disbelief and desperation we formed a circle just beyond the curtain and prayed aloud, cried and screamed, “We love you, Holly” hoping beyond hope that those words would ring out and save her life. And the other members of our family who drove and flew from all over the country to be by her side did not make it in time to say, “I love you” just one last time. Holly was not alone, unloved, unprotected or unsupported; she had a large family who willingly supported her throughout her short life and tragic death.
In the weeks since we buried Holly’s body we are now able to recall and share the memories of our daughter’s brilliant blue eyes, engaging smile, laughter, unwavering determination and sheer gentle beauty that invoked our natural instinct to protect and love her, but we will never be able to forget those last moments of her life when she was too weak to talk and could barely squeeze our hands in acknowledgement of our words of encouragement. “We love you, Holly”, “Just hang in there, the whole family is coming,” “You fight this Holly, you can do it.”
Because Holly has died this way, we have educated ourselves about the grave dangers of this drug, become conscious of the current lack of parental notification/consent laws in California and now recognize the critical need for accurate, impartial sources of information and resources for parents, teenagers and young women who want to learn about the real dangers and risks of unplanned pregnancy and abortion and the dire need for a national movement to encourage prevention and open dialogue in the home about unplanned pregnancy and abortion.
We will actively support “Holly’s Law” in Congress by Reps. DeMint, Bartlett and Senator Brownback to suspend and review the abortion drug RU-486, the Tell-A-Parent (TAP) bill, which requires parental notification laws in California and a campaign to encourage prevention and open dialogue about unplanned pregnancy and abortion in the home.
As parents, we cannot allow our beautiful Holly’s horrible death to be in vain. RU-486 has caused serious injury and has been implicated in the deaths of other young women. Now it has killed our daughter. We have learned that the initial trials were rushed and the drug was lumped in and approved with drugs designed for life threatening illnesses such as cancer and AIDS. Pregnancy is a natural process that a woman’s body is designed to support and has never been classified as a life threatening illness. We need help to develop a website and provide a place for teenagers and women to report their stories and testimonials of their experience on the serious and adverse affects using RU-486.
The FDA has failed to carry out its mission of ensuring RU-486 is a safe and effective abortion drug regimen. According to the FDA, it is “responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.” Holly has already paid the ultimate price.
The RU-486 abortion drug should not be either a Pro Life or Pro Choice issue. The most primary concern here must be the health and welfare of our children and young women. Hopefully, all parents can learn from Holly’s horrible death and our loss. According to Danco Laboratories, the abortion drug’s distributor, the RU-486 regimen fails to work 7-8 percent of the time. Over a year ago the FDA received 400 reports of adverse reactions to the drug including several deaths. Holly is yet another victim who was subject to an unacceptable risk to a drug that has a significant failure rate. And we demand that FDA Commissioner Mark McClellan and Health and Human Services Secretary, Tommy Thompson take RU-486 off the market immediately pending an extensive investigation by the Comptroller General of the United States before more parents suffer and women die.
We respectfully request the name of the bill that is to be presented to the House of Representatives, an Act cited as the “[RU-486 Approval and Review Act of 2003]” to be known as “Holly’s Law.” We actively support a bill that halts the use of the drug that took Holly’s young life.
We demand an investigation by the FDA and the California State Health Department as to why abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood are not following FDA approved regulations to administer the drug. We question the purity of the drugs they administer, especially when they are made in foreign countries, such as China.
In addition to the dangers of this drug and its administration, we believe that health care providers such as Valley Medical Care Center don’t appear to be fully prepared to evaluate and treat patients with RU-486 complications in emergency situations. Holly was in the hospital twice and died within 20 minutes before her follow up appointment with Planned Parenthood.
FDA Commissioner Mark McClellan and Health and Human Services Secretary, Tommy Thompson should now have enough evidence to pull this drug from the market. How many more teenagers and young women will have to pay the price with their health or with their life, before the FDA decides to act?
Currently in California, teenage girls under the age of 18 can’t get their ears pierced or go on a school trip, but they can have a medical or surgical abortion without parental knowledge or consent. This prevents parents from being able to talk to their children about a pregnancy that would allow them to keep a baby or to be able to follow the abortion process.
The first line of defense for a child is a parent. Kids wouldn’t be walking into clinics under a veil of secrecy if parents were notified first hand where they could talk to their children about abortion risks. We have now learned that Holly first sought a pregnancy test in the months leading up to her pregnancy while she was still 17 years old. We know now that a parental notification law would have brought Holly’s activity to our attention and her needless death could have been prevented if we had been aware and intervened.
We actively support the Tell-A-Parent (TAP) ballot initiative sponsored by Life on The Ballot http://www.LifeontheBallot.org. With enough petitions, this initiative will be on the 2004 ballot and requires parental notification 48 hours prior to an abortion in California. As parents, we are concerned about the health and welfare of all daughters; we are “Pro Holly” and look to our California Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein to support this initiative for the safety and protection of all young women in California.
Finally, we have suffered greatly with the realization that it’s not enough to avoid the issue or talk to our children about why we don’t want them to be involved in an unplanned pregnancy or abortion, but as parents, we must also talk about the tragic realities of unwanted pregnancy and abortion and reassure both, our daughters and sons that while we don’t want this to happen, we will support them. We must focus on prevention and they must be told that they are not alone in this or any other unfortunate circumstance, regardless of the outcome.
We feel very strongly that this country needs a national campaign to promote open and frank discussions in the home about unplanned pregnancy and the options that are available to our daughters who find themselves in this unfortunate predicament. We are eager to support such a campaign designed to bring about awareness, encourage parental involvement, and provide accurate information to minors, women, and parents about abstinence, birth control, unplanned pregnancy, abortion, parenting, and adoption options.
While parents would prefer that their daughters abstain from sex and many do, we must deal with the reality that many don’t. In addition to unplanned pregnancy, girls can contract HIV and other STIs. As parents we need to prevent unplanned pregnancy instead of relying upon abortion clinics and agencies to educate our children and provide them with inaccurate information. No parent wants to see his or her teenage or college age daughter in the unfortunate situation that Holly was faced with.
We have lost our daughter, Holly, but we can still help to prevent this terrible tragedy from happening in other families. Holly’s drive and determination to accomplish her goals gives us strength to pursue these critical issues in her name. Holly’s memory and light will live on in our hearts, family, friends and our work. We will actively support the bill to suspend and review “Holly’s Law” in Congress by Reps. DeMint and Bartlett and Senator Brownback to suspend and review the abortion drug RU-486, the Tell-A- Parent (TAP) bill, which requires parental notification laws in California and a campaign to encourage prevention and open dialogue about unplanned pregnancy and abortion in the home. Please contact us with any questions or requests for support of these very important issues.
Sincerely,
Mr. and Mrs. Monty and Helen Patterson
sorry, I know this letter is legnthy, but I found it, and I posted it so you can see that it wasn’t as cut and dry as it’s made to sound. This is why I find it important for parents to be informed about abortions being done on their young daughters. It’s the only medical procedure where NO parental notification was needed. Now Holly is dead, and her parents will suffer a lifetime. PS sorry about all of that extra gunk on the last part of my post.
Yes, I don’t see how Gene Simmons has anything to do with how those women died.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because he – like Holly and Edrica – failed to follow his aftercare instructions.
I remember when a young man almost died after wisdom tooth extraction. He left the bloody gauze in his mouth for days, didn’t take his antibiotic, and got a WHOPPIN” toxic shock-type septic infection.
Clearly it’s all his dentist’s fault, and wisdom tooth extraction should be outlawed.
This is why I find it important for parents to be informed about abortions being done on their young daughters.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She was 18.
Gene Simmons is a grown man. Holly Patterson was a 17 year old. She didn’t want her family to know about her abortion. It looks like she tried to follow up, and she was sent home. A 17 year old who is told “You’re fine, go home”, will probably do just that. I’ve known adults who did the same thing, only to winde up in the hospital again. Had Holly’s parents been informed, maybe they could have helped her out.
Okay, so she had just turned 18. Even so, I’ve known adults who have “taken the doctor’s word for it” and they went home. There was a 25 year old man who was misdiagnosed at a local hospital here three times. His family kept on taking him to the ER. He was told “We can’t find anything wrong with you,” and was released. He died 2 days after his third ER visit. He had some sort of infection, and it killed him.
Where would they go for after care after their illegal abortion?
In illegal abortion cases, they would need to listen to the “before care” instructions. I.E. don’t stick a coat hanger in your vagina, it can kill you. See what I mean?
Bethany, Hi there! My computer crashed yesterday, and all of my info is gone. I have given Jill my new e-mail address.
Where should they go for their after care after illegal abortions?…….. The same place they are all going to now……….the hospital ER.
The RU-486 abortion drug should not be either a Pro Life or Pro Choice issue. The most primary concern here must be the health and welfare of our children and young women.
——————
Did anyone else catch this, or just me?
This is why we NEED safe and effective procedures for women, and if we outlaw it, imagine how many more deaths there will be. Women will resort back to the days or pre-Roe v. Wade. If they find out that they are pregnant, they will find a way to be not pregnant or as Bethany so nicely put it: stick a coat hanger in your vagina (it can kill you).
If they find out that they are pregnant, they will find a way to be not pregnant or as Bethany so nicely put it: stick a coat hanger in your vagina (it can kill you).
How is that possibly our fault, even if that were true? How is it the pro-life fault if a woman decides to do something so drastic to herself? It’s like saying that we should have cutting clinics, for those women who are going to cut themselves due to depression, because they’re going to do it anyway…and if we don’t provide it for them, we’re just forcing them to cut themselves with dull knives with rusty blades.
The blog sure is slow moving today…my posts are taking very long to go through..anyone else having this problem?
Hi Heather! :)
Where should they go for their after care after illegal abortions?…….. The same place they are all going to now……….the hospital ER.
Exactly.
Hi Midnite!
Bathany: I never said it was anyone’s fault. But when a person is in a drastic situation, he/she will do drastic measures. That is a fact of life unfortunately. And comparing coat hangers to cutters is not a good analogy, they are two completely different things/issues.
Hi Midnite, and Bethany!! Hope you are both well today. I’ve got to leave soon. Mine was really slow earlier.
Hi Bethany. How are you doing today?
Bathany: I never said it was anyone’s fault. But when a person is in a drastic situation, he/she will do drastic measures. That is a fact of life unfortunately. And comparing coat hangers to cutters is not a good analogy, they are two completely different things/issues.
How so? With a cutter, she is making a choice to do something with her body that she feels makes her life better. I have talked with cutters and I know that it helps them feel as though temporarily, their problems have been “bled away”.
In the same way, a woman who gives herself an abortion, according to pro-choicers, is making a choice of what to do with her body, doing something with it that she believes will make her life better (being non-pregnant). They feel that once their baby is gone, and their problems will go away.
We do not have a responsibility to provide a service for women just because they will do it anyway.
Just like I don’t have to support a place for druggies to go to get drugs injected with sterile needles, just because if we don’t provide it, they might do it anyway, and they might die as a result.
Like you said, “it’s a fact of life”. But we can do things to help women understand that they deserve better. Counseling, for instance. Love, support, friendship, etc.
I’m doing great! I’ve been doing a lot of painting and stuff like that, so haven’t had much time to debate lately!
Hasn’t it been proven that the whole coat hanger song and dance was a “shock value” fear tactic on behalf of the PC side? Look at all the women who had abortions in hospitals before it was legalized. Marylin Monroe comes to mind. She had 3 abortions.
Oh and how is it going with your boyfriend? I never was able to read the rest of the other topic where you mentioned him. I hope that you’re doing well.
*meant scare tactic*
Laura,
What did Holly Patterson do to cause her death other than trusting PP?
Erica Goode should have never been given an abortion with an infection. We have been over this, but you refuse to listen.
Erica Goode very well have not been thinking clearly enough to make good decisions for herself due to a ragin infection in her body.
Why are you so quick to blame these women but not PP. What kind of idiot would stick something in an an infected vagina.
I totally agree with Bethany.
You will forever stand up for the STUPID women who would resort to sticking a coat hanger up themselves or check into a seedy hotel with her boyfriend and his loser side kick to illegally abort a six month old baby with some kitchen utilsels and a “how to” book.
Why do you not hold these women accountable for their actions?
Hasn’t it been proven that the whole coat hanger song and dance was a “shock value” fear tactic on behalf of the PC side? Look at all the women who had abortions in hospitals before it was legalized. Marylin Monroe comes to mind. She had 3 abortions.
Well, like we were talking about earlier, Whoopi claims to have had a coat hanger abortion at the age of 14. If she had one and survived, obviously they aren’t that dangerous….or, maybe she was an amazing medical prodigy.
I seriously doubt her story is true, but if it is, how does it really help the abortion supporters case? It shows that one can have an illegal abortion and be perfectly fine.
There are absolutely no documented cases of coat hanger abortions though.
Sandy, Hi! And good points.
I don’t doubt that women used coat hangers here and there. However, they did have a choice NOT to do so. That’s a REALLY stupid thing to do.
Bethany: You mentioned the coat hanger at first not me. There would be other methods of obtaining an abortion that that, but since you mentioned it, I threw it out there.
As for the BF, not soo good. I was up crying all last night and apparentyl popped a blood vessel in my eye b/c it’s red everywhere and it looks like it is bleeding. And he doesnt know if he loves me or wants to be with me. A simple yes or no questions turned into an “I dont know” question…
Oh and he wants to take a break but still talk to me everyday..
Because he – like Holly and Edrica – failed to follow his aftercare instructions.
I remember when a young man almost died after wisdom tooth extraction. He left the bloody gauze in his mouth for days, didn’t take his antibiotic, and got a WHOPPIN” toxic shock-type septic infection.
Clearly it’s all his dentist’s fault, and wisdom tooth extraction should be outlawed.
—————————-
Oh yeah, so where is that “young man’s” story in the newspaper? Do you see his parents fighting for a new law to ban wisdom tooth extractions?
I’m pretty sure that man knew to change his gauze. Put your finger in your mouth and take it out.
Unlike Holly, she put her trust in Planned Parenthood. She couldn’t just stick her hand in her stomach or vagina and take the pill out. She couldn’t control if she didn’t expell the baby in one piece.
Hmmm…comparing killing a baby and a young girl dying to getting a wisdom tooth pulled.
Wow, how far have we come.
Bethany: You mentioned the coat hanger at first not me. There would be other methods of obtaining an abortion that that, but since you mentioned it, I threw it out there.
Yeah, I know but the analogy works as long as you believe that illegal abortions are dangerous to the woman.
As for the BF, not soo good. I was up crying all last night and apparentyl popped a blood vessel in my eye b/c it’s red everywhere and it looks like it is bleeding. And he doesnt know if he loves me or wants to be with me. A simple yes or no questions turned into an “I dont know” question…
Midnite, I do not want to have to tell you this. Oh sweetie, I wish I could just give you a hug as I say this. If he doesn’t answer your questions, and they end up being I don’t knows, he is avoiding answering for one reason and one reason alone. He has already left you in his heart. I wish there was some way that this couldn’t be true, and I know the desperation you’re feeling right now. I couldn’t feel worse for you. Is there any way that you could come meet me and talk with me in person one day? Maybe it would be easier to tell you these things in person?
oh and he wants to take a break but still talk to me everyday..
Don’t give him the satisfaction. After what he’s put you through, he doesn’t deserve even the slightest moment with you.
Midnite, I’m begging you, for your sake, Please leave him. Go stay with a friend or family member for a while. You need to leave him but you also need support of someone who REALLY cares about you.
Sandy and Ruth, excellent posts! Bethany, Ruth, and Sandy, looks like we all posted at the same time.
Bethany, I have heard Whoopi make that claim. She claims to have done it @ the very young age of 14. Must have been a medical whiz! What you may not have heard, is that Whoopi went on to have several legal abortions. Sounds like someone was using the abortion clinic as B/C.
Bethany:
I am going to tell him to get all of his stuff out of my house and when he figures out what he wants to call me. And I dont have anyone to stay with unfortunately. I dont have that many close friends and my parents piss me off
If you want shock value, look at people who attempt suicide and fail do to themselves in.
Faces have been blown off, people have been horribly burned after surviving self-immolation, I saw one man paralyzed and blinded after shooting himself in the wrong part of the head, the sister of a co-worker of mine was put in the county mental health hospital because of permanent brain damage after a massive drug overdose, and I saw another young woman advised she likely only had 20 years left to live after a massive tylenol overdose. Ironically, she had done this to scare a boyfriend. About as stupid as putting a coathanger up yourself, wouldn’t you say? Those are only a few examples. Just imagine the cost of caring for people who botch their suicide attempts.
So why no outcry over this? Why don’t we find a way to make suicide “safe and effective”. Provide “safe” methods of suicide since people who are determined to kill themselves will anyway, we just don’t have to take care of the aftermath of messy complications. I mean, 30 years, at least, in the county hospital nursing home!! Good heavens, had she had “safe and effective” suicide, that would never have happened, not to mention that poor man who will spend the remainder of his life blind and paralyzed.
All this can be avoided if we just provide “safe and effective” methods of suicide to people who want them. Nobody would be forced to kill themselves, we would just make suicide “safe and effective” for those who can in good conscience do themselves in and who would only find some other far more gruesome, and possibly not as effective a method to do so.
Midnite,
Good start!
The kid with toxic shock from the tooth extraction lived two doors down from my parents 20 years ago. Here’s a similar case study.
The Toxic Shock Syndrome and Staphylococcus lugdunensis Bacteremia
Jaime Pareja, MD; Kal Gupta, MD; and Henry Koziel, MD
1 April 1998 | Volume 128 Issue 7 | Pages 603-604
——————————————————————————–
TO THE EDITOR:
The toxic shock syndrome is often associated with Staphylococcus aureus and is mediated by toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) and other enterotoxins. We describe the first case of the toxic shock syndrome associated with a coagulase-negative staphylococcal species, S. lugdunensis.
A 33-year-old, otherwise healthy woman developed nausea, vomiting, diffuse abdominal pain, myalgias, and confusion within 48 hours of tooth extraction and Gelfoam packing (Pharmacia-Upjohn, Kalamazoo, Michigan). Evaluation in the emergency department revealed a faint erythematous macular rash of the chest and livedo reticularis of the legs. General and pelvic examination were otherwise normal. Admission data (Table 1) fulfilled the criteria for the toxic shock syndrome. Cultures of blood and purulant right maxillary sinus aspirate showed coagulase-negative staphylococcal species, and the species of the blood isolates was identified S. lugdunensis. Tests for coagulase, TSST-1, staphylococcal enterotoxins A to E, and exfoliatin toxin A were negative. No S. aureus or S. pyogenes were isolated from blood, urine, sputum, or sinus or vaginal secretions. The patient improved with medical treatment. Desquamation of the palms and soles was noted before discharge.
Table 1. Laboratory Data in Woman with the Toxic Shock Syndrome and Staphylococcus lugdunensis Bacteremia*
Staphylococcus lugdunensis has been associated with other severe infections, including prosthetic and native valve endocarditis, peritonitis, infective arthritis, vascular prosthesis infection, osteomyelitis, brain abscess, bacteremia, septicemia, and septic shock. Previous reports implicated coagulase-negative staphylococcal species in the pathogenesis of the toxic shock syndrome [1, 2] and suggested TSST-1 production [1, 2], although subsequent analysis of select coagulase-negative staphylococcal species isolates failed to demonstrate TSST-1 or a TSST-1 gene [3].
This case expands the spectrum of severe infections associated with S. lugdunensis. Reports of S. lugdunensis endocarditis after tooth extraction [4] and the toxic shock syndrome associated with Gelfoam nasal packing [5] suggest a portal of entry in this case. The absence of a toxic shock syndrome-associated enterotoxin does not exclude the possibility of a novel virulence factor. As gram-positive organisms are increasingly identified in the bacteremic sepsis syndrome, the possibility that subspecies of coagulase-negative staphylococcal species may have different virulence patterns should be recognized.
Darn! Mary has just arrived, and now I have to go! Phooey!! Have a great night everyone.
Midnite,
When he figures out what HE wants? No no my friend, from now on it will be what YOU want. Enough of catering to what he wants. Once you’ve taken this initial step, who gives a damn what he wants, right?
*claps for midnite*
Yes Mary. But I know what I want. I love him, and would like to work things out with him. But he’s not going to be “on a break from me” and stay at my house everynight. I would like to try and work things out with him, but I am not going to wait on him forever either..
Midnite,
Oh and he wants to take a break but still talk to me everyday..
The question is not what does he want.
The question is what do YOU want.
A simple yes or no question, that YOU are turning into an “I don’t know” question…
Seems to me you want something he can’t give.
Can you live without it or not?
Midnite,
Well ok, one step at a time. I am very pleased to see you start to take matters into your own hands. I’m also convinced that as you progressively do this, you will find it easier to make the decisions that will be best for you in the long run. You know we’re all here for you, good luck.
Yeah that’s great Laura, but where is THAT kid’s article?
And how many of these cases are there compared to deaths caused by abortion?
You just CAN’T compare having an abortion to a wisdom tooth extraction. It’s as plain as black and white on paper. PERIOD.
You are killing a living human being. A tooth is not a human being, it doesn’t develop eyes, legs, a nose and ears. It doesn’t talk!
Now I don’t think a tooth can do all that. That must be one super mutated tooth if it does.
Now a developing live baby in a mother’s womb does. After the baby is born he/she continues to develop. The only thing that develops in infancy and toddler stage is crawling, walking, talking and using their gross and fine motor skills.
So I ask, is it okay to murder a developing baby in a mother’s womb just because “it is dependent on the mother for food, warmth, etc.” as pro-choicer’s put it?
Would you kill a baby that is 1 day old trough 2 years old? They still are dependent on their mother for food, warmth, etc. Why do people think it’s okay then to kill a baby inside their mother’s womb?
Laura,
You still haven’t answered my question. Why are you holding Holly Patterson responsible for her own death?
Ruth,
All very good questions. I have also asked why not deliver the baby in tact still connected to the umbilical cord and then rip it to pieces to kill it. It is the same procedure, one is just done inside the womb, the other outside the womb. What makes the one done inside the womb less despicable.
Laura, care to tackle that question??? so far no one has.
Midnite,
Why is your boyfriend staying in your place while he “thinks” about your relationship?
I’d tell him to get out and think about it somewhere else.
I agree with Bethany. If he can’t give you an immediate “yes I love you”, you need to move on.
It sounds like he is being truthful though. Look at it like he is doing you the biggest favor by breaking it off. Now you are free to move on and find true love instead of hanging in there with someone who hasn’t proven to be your ideal partner and continues to make you miserable.
Ruth: You are killing a living human being. A tooth is not a human being, it doesn’t develop eyes, legs, a nose and ears. It doesn’t talk!
Gee, Ruth, you might want to take that up with the New Jersey Supreme Court:
U.S. & WORLD NEWS: NJ court scraps trial on abortion data
NJBIZ Staff
A doctor has no duty to tell a woman considering an abortion that her embryo is an “existing human being,” a unanimous New Jersey Supreme Court ruled Wednesday, averting a trial over when human life begins. The decision, citing past rulings, said the court “will not place a duty on doctors when there is no consensus in the medical community or among the public” on when life begins. The 5-0 Supreme Court ruling reversed a unanimous ruling by a three-judge appeals panel. The Associated Press
Well I just called him and told him he needed to get all of his stuff out of my apartment by this weekend. He DID NOT sound happy and just said OK, I don’t care. So I asked him if he had any opinion about me other than I don’t know/care, and he said yes, he just didn’t know how to describe it. I told him I loved him and wanted to work things out with him, but we needed to take a break so he could figure out what he wanted. I told him that it wasn’t what I wanted but I couldn’t think of another solution to keep him.
Laura,
You still haven’t answered my question. Why are you holding Holly Patterson responsible for her own death?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She refused to give the ER she went to an accurate medical history (she never mentioned the RU-486) and she never returned to Planned Parenthood.
What were they supposed to do?
Yeah that’s great Laura, but where is THAT kid’s article?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was no article. I never said there was an article. Every time you get your rancid, foul yeast infection do you alert the media?
Lauara,
Where’s the documentation for that tidbit.
Also, you failed to answer my other question about abortion. Killing in the womb vs. killing outside the womb.
No one has ever answered. I dare you to explain the difference.
Good job Midnite. You will feel so much better about the situation if you take control and don’t let him intimidate you with his emotions.
How could he be mad at you? It’s your place. He clearly doesn’t know if he wants to be with you. I would think he’d be the one to offer to move out.
Midnite, good for you! I doubt you are feeling any better right this minute, but I also think you’ll be feeling somewhat better by Monday.
Sandy: We can explain the difference a thousand times, but you won’t find the answer convincing. You don’t see the difference between “killing” in the womb and outside the womb. For us, (or at least me) that *is* the difference.
OK, I am off to ride on 4Wheelers. And to drink my prblems into a cloudiness.
Midnight, although that never helps, I endorse your solution.
However, don’t start the drinking until you’re done riding.
Midnite, WOW, I am so proud of you!!!! I know that was difficult for you to do, but you did it! Go girl! I promise that one day when you’re sitting with the man who loves you as much as you love him, you will be so thankful you told this guy to leave.
Please be careful tonight. And surround yourself with friends. Or call someone you care about.
Yeah that’s great Laura, but where is THAT kid’s article?
And how many of these cases are there compared to deaths caused by abortion?
……………………………………………
It never ceases to amaze me that the PL so blatantly disregard the process of gestation. All of the necessary elements for development of the essential organs for there to be a viable fetus are supplied by the woman. For a healthy fetus to be developed a great deal of time and energy expended by the woman is necessary. During the period of the vast majority of abortions in this country, little time has past. Little energy has been expended by the woman and the embryo/fetus has not developed a single organ capable of sustaining life.
Laura, I wouldn’t know since obviously from how you write about it you know more about what a yeast infection looks like. You must get them alot.
AGAIN, answer Sandy’s question.
It’s obvious that you can’t.
It never ceases to amaze me how PC’s use the same argument as you put up there. :)
Per Laura:
“There was no article. I never said there was an article. Every time you get your rancid, foul yeast infection do you alert the media?”
If a woman died from one, you bet it would be in the media. You do seem to be the expert on this subject. How terrible for you. :(
Per Hal:
“We can explain the difference a thousand times, but you won’t find the answer convincing. You don’t see the difference between “killing” in the womb and outside the womb. For us, (or at least me) that *is* the difference.”
Hal,
No, I don’t think anyone has ever tried to explained this. There is no difference except that the doctor must use an ultrasound to dig around in a woman’s uterus an ensure he has a “catch”.
I would also ask any woman who had had an abortion how she would feel watching theri abortoin on the ultrasound. It is diguisting, horrible and pathetic that anyone would do this to their own.
Midnite,
You are making progress. You’ve taken the first step. You went through with it. I’m as proud of you as Bethany. She’s right about being thankful one day for this decison.
There are ladies I thank to this day for “stealing” a boyfriend from me. I’m only sorry it took them so long! Believe me, one day you will wonder what took you so long! Especially when you see all the men who have been waiting to ask you out!
Hang in there girlfriend, you’re on the right road!
Well here’s something for the pro-choice people to ponder:
Let’s talk about YOU.
You are who you say you are.
Were you here yesterday?
Yes?
Okay. Were you here last week?
Yes? Okay.
Last year?
Yes? Okay.
15 years ago?
Yes?
25 years ago?
How old are you?
Okay, whatever your age is, it’s based on the day you were born, right?
Okay, agreed.
Now, we’re you “YOU” the moment before you were delivered from your mother’s womb?
Hmm? What was that?
I didn’t hear you?
You’re not sure?
Okay, let’s say you answered,
“Yes. A moment before I was born, I existed. I “was”.
What about an hour (60 minutes) before you were born. We’re you “YOU” at that time?
What? What did you say?
Not sure?
What about the day before you were born?
Were you “YOU”???
Okay, I know this is really getting difficult for you to answer. But stay with me.
Let’s go back 30 days before you were born.
We’re you “YOU” 30 days before you were born?
What about 60 days, or let’s say, two months before you were born. Were you “YOU” two months before you were born??
What?
You don’t know?
I thought you had all the answers.
Oh, sorry.
What?
It doesn’t make any difference!?
You mean “YOU” the identity of “YOU” doesn’t make any difference?
What about 4 months before you were born.
Were you “YOU” four whole months before your own birthday?
You see. You don’t want to answer.
Why not?
I thought you had all the answers to lifes biggest questions.
What could be more important than YOUR OWN IDENTITY??
You claim you have the answers for life and death.
You call us pro-life people extremists. Maybe you think we are stupid.
Radical Right-wing religious nuts.
Whatever.
But if you can’t even tell me when “YOU” came into existence, then you haven’t the slightest clue as to WHO YOU ARE.
What? What was that?
Now listen, there’s no need for using obscenities in a civil discussion.
Just sit down now, relax. Get a cup of coffee, tea or coke and think for about 30 minutes about when you came into being.
It’s not so hard. Just trace it back from this very moment. Go back like I said, back to your birth.
Then think about each moment, each hour, each day before that.
Try to think, now.
When did “YOU” become “YOU”?
When you spend some time thinking about it, then let us know what your answer is.
Okay?
Now relax and get that cup of java, tea, or coke.
midnite, you sure didn’t waste time. I’ll just bet you threw him for a loop. I try to think of all of the lousy things that my exes have done to me. Lying, cheating, etc. The next woman will probably get the same thing. A leopard never changes their spots. You will probably find someone much better suited for you. I’ll bet you’ll meet someone in your chosen field of school and work. Most people want that “comfort zone.” Who could blame them? It’s just seems easier to stay there, then to make changes. However, you will never have piece of mind until you really evaluate the situation. Once you take the first step, the rest just falls into place. There will be pain. Just surround yourself with good friends and stay busy. If you believe in God ,this is a good time to talk to him. Ask him to guide you. He’ll work it all out! I hope to see you tomorrow. Also, go easy on the booze. It’s a CNS depressant, and it could make you feel worse.
midnite, one more thing, I commend you for your no nonsense attitude. I must admit that I underestimated you. I didn’t think that you would act this quickly. Keep going and don’t look back. Keep going forward. You have already taken a HUGE step, and there are plenty of women out there who never would have been able to do what you’ve done.
Had Holly Patterson and Edrica Goode died from illegal abortions, we would never hear the end of it. It’s sad that some people just re victimize these 2 women. They were also victims of the abortion industry. Welcome to the front ally days.
Paul:
“Now, we’re you “YOU” the moment before you were delivered from your mother’s womb?”
No.
“What about an hour (60 minutes) before you were born. We’re you “YOU” at that time?”
No.
“What about the day before you were born?
Were you “YOU”???”
No.
“Let’s go back 30 days before you were born.
We’re you “YOU” 30 days before you were born?”
No.
“What about 60 days, or let’s say, two months before you were born. Were you “YOU” two months before you were born??”
No.
“I thought you had all the answers.”
I did? When?
“You mean “YOU” the identity of “YOU” doesn’t make any difference?”
No, not really.
“What about 4 months before you were born. Were you “YOU” four whole months before your own birthday?”
No.
“I thought you had all the answers to lifes biggest questions.”
I did?
“You claim you have the answers for life and death.”
No, I don’t think so.
“You call us pro-life people extremists. Maybe you think we are stupid. Radical Right-wing religious nuts.”
Some of you are.
“But if you can’t even tell me when “YOU” came into existence, then you haven’t the slightest clue as to WHO YOU ARE.”
I can tell you; I came into existance when I became self-aware.
Point is, I think this post is silly. And I’m bored. =/
Midnite, I think (which may be entirely off the mark) you did the right thing, and I think that fairly quickly you will see that more clearly than ever
Good fortune to you!
Doug
Stephanie,
I can tell you; I came into existance when I became self-aware.
Reaalllllly?
So you were about one and a half years old before you came into existence?
Interesting.
