College day of service: Planned Parenthood
This past Saturday a student at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh learned something new: Planned Parenthood commits abortion. Duh to many of us, but not to that college freshman.
RMU requires that first year students complete some form of community service throughout the year, and on Saturday’s Day of Service, the Planned Parenthood of Western PA abortion mill in Pittsburgh was one of 14 options RMU offered. RMU representative Kyle Fisher told me this was PP’s 2nd year on the list.
10 students chose PP to volunteer to assemble “safer sex kits.” Five calls to various PA PP’s yielded ignorant staffers who had no idea what was in those kits. Nor did Ms. Fisher.
But I found perusing the web the kits contain a male condom, female condom, flavored lubricant, latex glove, dental dam, and finger cot….
Back in the day, and today under proper circumstances, sex was natural and carefree. But the prevalence of disease and potential death, never mind pregnancy, from engaging in sex under illicit circumanstances forces modern day participants to don latex body armor – only after undergoing pre-coital belt-notch interrogations and medical exams. And no one sees that something has gone terribly awry?
But I digress. Back to that freshman.
Pro-lifer Michael Forse, who regularly prays in front of this PP and who spoke to the girl, told me:
We were out there praying, and a group of about 10 women came across the street and went into the building.
After about a half hour or so, this young student, one of the girls who had gone in, came out weeping, shaking, visibly shaken and upset. The leader of the group came out with her.
We went to comfort her. The words out of her mouth: “I didn’t know what they did in there. I didn’t know what kind of place this was.”
Then she was on the cell phone to come and get her.
That someone was a family member who came and picked her up and took her to St. Barnabas Church to complete her service.
Students for Life of America, which reported this incident, concluded in a press release:
“A lot of colleges want to educate students on issues of community concern, and yet the RMU administration is teaching how to destroy a community,” Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director… said. “Planned Parenthood targets minorities and the poor, and now RMU is showing students that view is acceptable and that the poor are worth less than the privileged who can attend their expensive private school.”

I’m not quite sure if PP told RMC exactly what it does. Remember, it goes under the guise of “women’s healthcare”. PP wasn’t really exposed, nationally, until the Aurora blowup. Over 150 corporations have pulled their funding towards PP costing them $35M. The word is getting out on how deceptive and evil PP is! Thank God! I’ve always said, that if one good thing came out of the Aurora fiasco, it was that PP was exposed not only nationally, but worldwide!!! Let’s keep this ball rolling!
I just clicked on the Planned Parenthood of Western PA link from Jill’s article…VERY DECEPTIVE! Note the word “abortion” was never mentioned! I did, however, get a HUGE kick out of clicking on “pledge a picketer”….LMAO!
Back in the day, and today under proper circumstances, sex was natural and carefree.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the HELL was that?
At our country’s founding you could buy abortifacients over-the-counter and syphillis was rampant.
(My other favorite fictional fairy-tale period in American history was the 50’s. There’s a wonderful book called “The Way We Never Were” that covers America in the middle of the 20th century. Not good…)
How y’all always forget that PP does other things besides abortions (which are done only on Saturdays):
————————————————-
For all of you out there who think that the bare-bones government funding that Planned Parenthood recieves is funding abortions, or anyone who is just curious about what PP is all about, I hope this might eliminate some of the erroneous assumptions that pro-life propaganda has spread about PP. PP is open 7 days a week. Abortions are only performed on ONE day a week. The vast majority of PP exployees work Mon-Fri. Abortions are only performed on Saturday. Most of the weekend staff, with the exception of physicians, are volunteers. So even if you are against abortion, you can still support 99% of what Planned Parenthood does. And think about the fact that if you protest outside of PP and berate those who step through their doors, you might be berating a woman getting a Hepatitis vaccine.
The term “safer sex”, of course, prompts the question: Safer than what?
Interesting, isn’t it, that there are millions of sexually active people out there who have exactly no chance of ever contracting an STD, and the thought of using condoms, dental dams, and finger cots would never, ever, ever cross their minds.
They’re married people who practice marital chastity.
Jennifer Roback Morse was onto something when she titled one of her books Smart Sex, which, she explains, can only occur within marriage and when it is open to the possibility of conceiving a baby.
Too bad the meme hasn’t caught on; seems to me it’s a good counter to the loathsome term “safer sex”.
Today (Monday) marks Day 26 of the 40 days of harassment and thanks to you clients are still getting the health care and information they need to live and love the way that?s best for them. Thank you to our escorts, who greet clients walking from the parking lots to the front doors of Planned Parenthood, making that short walk rather uneventful. Our escorts are really gaining in popularity, as this note from one of our Bryan escorts attests to:
“Two of our clients came outside last week and were about to get in their car and drive away, when they asked about the protestors and the escorts role in the scenario…when I explained our goal, in taking some of the heat off the clients and distracting them, etc…making them feel safe, they both went back inside and asked for volunteer applications!! ”
About 1-2% of Planned Parenthood’s across the US have 40 Days of Harassment events taking place. Planned Parenthood Federation of America is documenting some of the activities through a blog. This week will feature some posts from our service area – so check for a local update.
One thing we hear from protesters is their attempt to shame women for coming to Planned Parenthood. They try to shame them for being responsible and getting the birth control they need. They try to shame them for making personal decisions about their lives — decisions that should be made privately, not on the street in front of a health center. They try to shame them for coming to Planned Parenthood, their trusted provider, to get affordable annual exams, when they don’t have health insurance.
We listen to our clients, and our escorts listen to them as well. We hear again and again from them, that clients seeking services aren’t ashamed or trying to hide, they simply want privacy. Who wants people watching, trying to bully you, and talking about you, when all you’re trying to do is get health care?
“While I volunteered one morning, I was confronted by a protestor. As one of my fellow volunteer escorts walked a young woman with her head down, her eyes full of tears and her hood pulled low over her face, past us, the protestor turned to me and said, ?Did you see how sad she was? She knows it?s wrong?. But I saw the way she took her hood off and lifted her head when she walked in the door. I know her shame wasn?t in her choices, her shame was for the people waving signs and crosses telling her she was wrong to control her own health.”
We stand firm in our belief that women seeking health care should not be subject to this harassment when they’re trying to access medical services, education, or information.
And we?re not alone! We continue to add bright pink ribbons to the outside of our health centers to signify the donations made by hundreds across our service area. Donate Now.
Thanks to all of you who have already donated or volunteered your time! We?ve got 14 more days to go and are still recruiting superheroes! You can be a part of helping women and men across Houston and southeast Texas continue to get health care and information without harassment! It’s not too late to volunteer.
Join the Planned Parenthood superhero community!
26 days down, 14 to go. Still no match for 71 years of service.
Planned Parenthood sent me this. Oh, I want to be a superhero!!! *throws on a red cape*
Cheesy. Sorry about those ????? in my post.
I just clicked on the Planned Parenthood of Western PA link from Jill’s article…VERY DECEPTIVE! Note the word “abortion” was never mentioned!
You antis love to omit context when you sling accusations around. Abortion is not “never mentioned.” It is not mentioned on the front page, but no specific services are mentioned on the front page. Abortion is mentioned one click away, at the Health Services link, along with all the other services provided by PP Western PA.
There is no deception here, as much as you wish there was.
No, midnite678, the Aurora mill does them on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays! I have a wonderful OBGYN that does not promote teen sex & abortions. Is someone that robs banks for a living but holds the door open for someone a “good person”, is a murderer that buys his mom a flower a “nice person”, is child rapist that also took the kid to the zoo “kind”? You’re on a pro-life website! We do not support ANY institution that does ABORTIONS!!!!
Ray at October 24, 2007 4:52 PM,
I was just noting the deception on the front page…I don’t have my “evil blinders” with me now, so I didn’t want to dig deep into they’re “abortion, hooray!” website…I didn’t mean for my post to be deceptive….next time, I’ll be sure to jot down EXACTLY what I look at, so pro-aborts, as yourself, will understand where I am coming from…sorry again!
Calling for an Appointment
Our appointment center staff will be happy to answer your questions and can schedule an appointment promptly. Call 216-991-4000 or toll free 1-877-PRETERM (773-8376). Our appointment center hours are generally 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday with extended hours on some days and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. We schedule appointments for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. We can also schedule a private appointment upon request.
It will take about 10 to 15 minutes to set up an appointment. An appointment center advocate will ask you several questions and explain your options and fees. We’ll need to know when your last normal menstrual cycle began to help us determine how many weeks pregnant you are.
If you’re less than 17 weeks pregnant, we can schedule a 2-day appointment. If you’re 17 through 20 weeks pregnant, the abortion will require 3 visits. If you’re from out-of-town, we can help you find nearby lodging.
Preparing for Your Appointments
Here are several reminders to help your visits go more smoothly:
You are welcome to bring a support person, but please limit it to one adult. We cannot accommodate children so please make other arrangements for their care while you’re here.
Wear a loose-fitting, 2-piece outfit, including socks and underwear.
Bring a valid photo ID. If you’re a minor coming with your parent, you both need a valid photo ID and you need to bring a copy of your birth certificate.
If you’re using a credit card for payment, make sure the cardholder is with you.
Make sure you park in Preterm’s parking lot, not in any of the nearby lots.
Be prepared to see protesters in front of our building. Please ignore them.
If you’re having oral sedation, conscious sedation or anesthesia, here are some additional reminders:
You must have a driver with you to drive you home.
Don’t have any alcohol or marijuana for 24 hours before your appointment.
If you’re having anesthesia:
Don’t eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your appointment-not even water or gum.
If you’re having conscious sedation:
Don’t take anything by mouth after midnight the night before your appointment except clear liquids. This means no food, including candy or gum. You can drink clear liquids up until four hours before your appointment.
If you’re having anesthesia or conscious sedation:
If you have a tongue piercing, you’ll need to remove it before the procedure.
Your Time at Preterm
There are several steps to having an abortion besides the procedure itself. During the first visit, you’ll meet with our intake staff, undergo lab work and an ultrasound, and have a private counseling session with a patient advocate and a private consultation with a physician. This process takes about 2 to 4 hours. During your second visit, you’ll have your procedure and spend time in the recovery room. The second visit can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on where you are in your pregnancy, whether you’re having sedation or anesthesia, and other factors. When you schedule your second visit, we’ll give you an estimate of how long your appointment will take.
Here is an abortion clinic in my state. I know a few women who have gone here. They don’t really take this kind of time with you.
Jill,
Got your e-mail RE: What if Guiliani wins the nomination. Very plainly, if he wins, I will not vote fro him. A man cannot serve two masters. He will either be for him or against him. I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, vote for a pro-death candidate.
I have a wonderful OBGYN that does not promote teen sex & abortions.
Laura, a large part of the mission of Planned Parenthood is to provide some of those services you get from your wonderful ob/gyn to women who can’t afford it or don’t have health insurance. In blanket condemning PP because it performs abortions, you antis are throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Pun intended. In opposing birth control and sex ed, you cause more unwanted pregnancies and abortions than you prevent.
…is child rapist that also took the kid to the zoo “kind”?
I find it ironic that you would compare PP to a child rapist, when in fact PP is there to help victims of child rape, while your kind would force such a victim to carry a pregnancy resulting from rape to term.
“The following is the list of services the center I intern at provides, in alphabetical order:”
Midnite, I didn’t know you worked at a death-mill? since when?
Ray, you are wrong. PP is where the pedophile takes his impregnated victim. He’s got to cover his tracks. The abortion clinic will do that for him.
Indeed. Heather, you probably have this fun little tidbit in mind. God love you, Ray.
Who profits financially in cases of child sex abuse?
The dirty little secret is that Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation know they will sell more abortions, more birth control products and more treatments for sexually transmitted diseases when they turn a blind eye to child rape. Men involved with minors need to conceal these sexual relationships, so they take their underage victims to clinics that offer minors confidential abortion services and birth control. When Planned Parenthood and other family planning service providers ignore child abuse reporting laws, they help these men to continue their ongoing sexual abuse of children.
It’s illegal for an adult man to seduce an underage girl into a sexual relationship. Every state has statutory rape laws that prohibit sex between adults and children. But Planned Parenthood, the National Abortion Federation, family planning service providers, and all other clinics that profit from selling products and services to sexually active underage girls, have a financial incentive to ignore the laws that were designed to protect children from sexual abuse. And now there?s proof that 91% of these businesses don?t comply with child abuse reporting laws. On the contrary, they actually help conceal child rape from law enforcement!
And then, PP would happily send that child back into a vulnerable situation, turning a blind eye to the national mandate that they report child rape. Oh happy place.
Are you serious, Erin?
Here is an abortion clinic in my state. I know a few women who have gone here. They don’t really take this kind of time with you.
Well, unless you’re a drama queen/attention whore, what difference would it make?
It’s a medical procedure, not prom.
Yup, that’s me. The attention whore.
BTW, who’s here TRYING to get all the ATTENTION? Ms. Oh, I am sooooooooooo funny!! NOT!
We were discussing the women who went to the clinic.
We weren’t discussing you at all.
You always discuss you.
Ray said, “I find it ironic that you would compare PP to a child rapist, when in fact PP is there to help victims of child rape, while your kind would force such a victim to carry a pregnancy resulting from rape to term.”
Now, now Ray…don’t be deceptive…you are an intelligent man. I was using a comparison of PP’s total practices with the total practices of different types of people, correlating the negative/positives with both. I believe that it was you who was equating PP to a child rapist…not me! But if the shoe fits…..
Ray said, “a large part of the mission of Planned Parenthood is to provide some of those services you get from your wonderful ob/gyn to women who can’t afford it or don’t have health insurance”
But funny, Ray, how these same women (or girls) that supposedly cannot afford it or don’t have health insurance waltz in to PP decked out in their finest clothes, highlighted hair, perfect makeup, and drive off in their SUV’s…it’s just amazing!
Hello PL Laura!
Laura, I don’t even see where I was discussing me.
CHICAGO-? Recordings of conversations between a minor girl and Planned Parenthood staffers were released to the public today, revealing that Planned Parenthood staff members tell their clients that they will keep information about alleged child sexual abuse and statutory rape from authorities.
In the recorded conversations, a female actress portrays a 13 year old girl speaking with staff members of 21 different Planned Parenthood clinics located throughout Illinois. In the tapes, the “13-year-old” discusses her relationship with a 22-year-old sexual partner. The recordings were made in a nationwide investigation conducted by Texas-based Life Dynamics.
A coalition of Illinois pro-family, pro-life organizations calling themselves the Committee to Protect Illinois Children, headed by Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Illinois in partnership with the Illinois Right to Life Committee, suggests that 21 Planned Parenthood (PP) and National Abortion Federation (NAF) abortion clinics in Illinois knowingly cooperate with minor girls under the age of consent who may be involved in sexual relationships with men over age 21, an illegal act in Illinois.
The caller in the recordings was seeking an abortion in an unmistakable effort to conceal illicit sex from her parents and authorities. Calls were made to over 800 abortion clinics nationwide during late February and early March this year. Illinois will be the fifth state to make the audiotapes and results public. (continued below table)
The calls to 21 Illinois PP and NAF abortion clinics, by a caller portraying herself as a 13-year-old girl with a 22-year-old boyfriend, were recorded this spring by Life Dynamics in Denton, Texas.
Transcripts of the recorded conversations are available at Illinois Leader — Abortion Clinic Transcripts.
Hi Heather! Great posts today!
“26 days down, 14 to go. Still no match for 71 years of service.”
LOL!!!
Do they really think I’m leaving in 14 days?!?!
LMAO LMAO LMAO!!! Can’t stop LMAO!
Here is another post where I am discussing me again.
PL Laura, LMAO as well! I have them on my e-mail list. That’s all about ME too.
Murderers’ Row
DIMINISHING MARKET HAS ABORTIONISTS FIGHTING AMONG THEMSELVES
By Lesley Payne
Nearly 90 percent of doctors of freestanding abortion clinics are on probation with the state Medical Board, according to the February 28, 1998 newsletter of the pro-abortion group Feminist Women’s Health Center. California pro-life activists are not surprised by the figure. For years, probation has been the board’s token punishment for abortionists who repeatedly injure and kill their patients. When Los Angeles-area abortionist and plastic surgeon Patrick Chavis lost his license last year, it was for a botched liposuction procedure that resulted in a woman’s death.
Drama? You want drama? I can giiiiiive you drama!
Midnite, the PP mill in my area does abortions on Thursday and Friday also.
Heather, that sounds like BS to me. (The claim that 90% of abortion docs are on probation). Provide a link please.
That is the link.
Abortion-Related Violence
by Rep. John Hostettler Pregnant Pause Home Abortion Search this site
——————————————————————————–
Congressman John Hostettler represents southwestern Indiana as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He is a frequent leader and advocate of pro-life legislation in Washington.
Maybe the writers for the NBC drama Law and Order just ran out of plot ideas. Instead of a fresh new storyline, their Jan. 6 episode recycled a tired and reliable media theme: a “pro-lifer” stalking and killing an abortion practitioner.
The abortionist, predictably, was portrayed as a family man, caring and gentle with the women who visited his clinic. The pro-lifer was portrayed as a cold and calculated fanatic who prayed with his family before assassinating the kindly abortionist.
This theme has taken many forms on the networks, cable, Hollywood and even news programs. Movies like the Cider House Rules depict abortionists as saintly heroes, while television programs like The West Wing, Felicity, The Practice, Gideon’s Crossing, Party of Five, and others show pro-lifers as intolerant and violent.
The roles are almost never reversed. Pro-lifers are rarely portrayed as caring people with a legitimate concern about the destruction of pre-born babies. Abortionists are not shown to have any shortcomings, much less possess the capability of harming another human being. But is this an accurate representation of reality?
A brief glance at the facts shows it is not. In fact, these portrayals are at odds with what has taken place since the Supreme Court invented a right to take life in the womb 29 years ago. Since 1973, abortion providers and radical abortion supporters have committed more murders and other felonies than can be accurately tallied (not including the tens of millions of murdered babies). The examples are plentiful.
On Valentines Day last year, Oklahoma City abortionist John Baxter Hamilton strangled his wife, beat her and slammed her face repeatedly onto a marble floor, killing her. Hardly the actions of someone who is “pro-woman.” Dr. Hamilton was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.1
Another abortionist, Dr. Brian Finkel, owner of the Metro Phoenix Women’s Clinic, was indicted in January on charges of molesting 26 patients. That comes on top of 17 counts of sexual abuse and sexual assault brought against Finkel last year. Altogether, more than 100 women, including four former employees, have alleged sexual misconduct by Finkel.2
In 1999, Pasadena abortionist Kevin Paul Anderson strangled his business partner, Dr. Deepti Gupta, a mother of two young children who was expecting her third, the product of their extramarital affair. After strangling her, Anderson put Gupti’s body in her car, poured gasoline on her and pushed the car off a 450-foot cliff. He was convicted of second-degree murder.3
In a case that parallels the recent “Law and Order” episode – except the roles were reversed – Alabama pro-abortion activist Eileen Orstein Janezic murdered pro-life minister and radio talk show host Jerry Simon. After shooting Simon through a window of his home, she held police at bay with a pistol for six hours while quoting from the Satanic Bible.4
Many abortionists have also been convicted of murdering or maiming their patients. In January, jurors awarded $2 million to the 5-year-old son of a woman who died following a 1997 abortion at the Delaware Women’s Health Organization clinic. The jury found that Dr. Mohammad Imran was negligent and that his actions led to the death of the 19-year-old woman.5
In May 2000, California abortionist Dr. Bruce Steir pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the death of a 27-year-old woman. According to the medical examiner, she bled to death after Steir performed a second-trimester abortion on her at A Lady’s Choice Clinic. The examiner ruled her death “a result of gross negligence.”6
Another California abortionist, Alicia Ruiz Hanna, was convicted in 1994 of second-degree murder after a 27-year-old mother of four died in her clinic. Two of the woman’s children, who sat in the waiting room for hours after she died, saw Hanna trying to stuff their mother’s body into the trunk of a car in order to dump her body in Mexico. The judge described Hanna as “callous and self-serving” before sentencing her to 15 years to life in prison.7
Countless other women have died as the result of abortions, several more have given birth to live babies maimed by abortionists, and one New York City abortionist, Dr. Allan Zarkin, even carved his initials on the abdomen of a woman upon whom he had just performed a Caesarean section. Zarkin was fired for this act, but was later hired at The Choices Women’s Medical Center in Long Island, which performs 15,000 abortions a year.8
Though you rarely hear about it, there are also numerous cases of abortion supporters killing women who didn’t make the right “choice.”
In 1998, a jury found Alfred E. Smith guilty of murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend Deena Moody because she refused to abort their preborn child. Her charred body was found in her burned car near an Amtrak station.
In 1997, 38-year old Kevin Robinson murdered 15-year-old Daphne Sulk because he had gotten her pregnant and she refused to get an abortion to cover up his child molestation. Daphne’s frozen body was discovered near a Wyoming rest area.9
In a particularly horrific case, Lavern Ward was upset that his girlfriend, 28-year old Debra Evans, was pregnant with his child and would not get an abortion. So he shot and killed her. Then he stabbed Evan’s ten-year-old daughter in the neck and killed her. After hacking the unborn child out of Evan’s body, Ward abducted her seven-year old son and stabbed him to death. The only bright spot in this tragedy is that the baby somehow lived.10
The list goes on and on and on. Yet the national media almost never cover these incidents. Hollywood and network writers and producers will not portray them. Abortion groups will not acknowledge them, much less apologize for or denounce them.
The truth is that taxi cab drivers, grocery store workers, service station employees, used car dealers, real estate agents, liquor store employees, police officers, jewelers and hotel personnel are murdered at a rate many, many times higher than abortionists, according to Bureau of Labor statistics. But these murders do not fit into a political agenda, so they are ignored by the abortion-favoring media.
The success of a movement that does not enjoy widespread public support often depends on effective propaganda. The pro-abortion movement knows this well and has advanced its cause by repeating myths until they were accepted as fact. Their distortions have turned a violent act into a celebrated “right.”
No one understands this better than the national abortion provider Planned Parenthood, who hands out annual awards “to the media and entertainment figures who have best advocated abortion during the previous year.” Among the winners honored last month: the NBC drama Law and Order.
And just think: Even with all these bad abortionists you list, the maternal mortality rate is still less than one per hundred thousand abortions.
Oh no. Abortion is not violent at all!
It’s just so obvious that abortionists respect women:]
I just really have to answer the “Sex was carefree” back in the past comment, because the level of inanity is so extreme. Sex was not carefree. Disease was rampant, untreatable, and there were no tests for it. You just eventually died from Syhillis or become infertile from whatever else. Lots of married women got it from husbands. If you weren’t married, a sexual affair that went badly would render you a social outcast and unmarraigeable. And with the constant threat of death from childbirth or having more kids than you can feed hanging over your head (and no good birth control…just do-it-yourself abortions, which were also rampant) sex was a real russian roulette for a lot of women.
And when you consider most weren’t even married to men they loved, but married out of social obligation/to gain financial stability/social status, etc, and that most women were taught to be suspicious of their own sexuality at best and hateful of it at the worst…they weren’t even getting the benifit of passion and orgasms for all their trouble.
Yuck.
By contrast, I have to say that my bf, whom I love, and I have some pretty kick ass carefree sex. With about a .01 chance of getting pregnant thanks to good birth control, being in love, knowing neither of us has any STDs, knowing that if I did get pregnant it woudn’t be life threatening or shaming or the end of the world, knowing that if our relationship did not work out I wouldn’t be tainted goods and would still find a good husband, and being taught to enjoy my female sexuality and have orgasms…it rocks. Carefree as a bird.
Ya’ll need to get a clue.
a.Y.W. You said it all, better than I could. Thank you and keep on living your life to the fullest.
It’s a sorry state of affairs (no pun intended) when someone says “keep living your life to the fullest” in regards to someone having sex.
PP has been indicted for just that in Kansas.
Anon young woman thinks her odds of pregnancy are 0.01. Or 1 in 10,000.
Abortion docs, Guttmacher/PP beg to differ.
They think perfect use of contraception will yield three abortions per woman.
http://www.alternet.org/rights/28366/
This from a very pro-abortion website.
“In the clinic world, repeat visitors are called, not unkindly, “frequent flyers.” The reason that casual term is not an insult is simply due to how common multiple abortions are. “You have 300 possibilities to get pregnant in your life,” says Peg Johnston, the director of an abortion clinic in Binghamton, New York. “A one percent failure rate — assuming the best possible use of contraception — is still three abortions,” she says. “In what endeavor is a one percent failure rate not acceptable?”
According to Planned Parenthood, two out of every 100 women aged fifteen to forty-four will have an abortion this year and half of them will have had at least one abortion previously. Yet virtually everyone I’ve talked to about multiple abortions said she shouldn’t have let it happen again, implying it was her fault.”
Carefree? Are you kidding? Prostitution used to be a thousand times more prominent than it is today. Just about every man who’d ever had sex had syphilis years ago. Carefree means everyone got STDs and then died from them. Naturally. You’re right, screw protection. Let’s all get STDs, just like we used to, back in the day!
Last Saturday, 2 fathers? brought their children to the clinic. One had a 1 and a half year old, and the other had 3 kids about 3-6.
Personally, I take my kids to the zoo on Saturdays. Maybe the museum or a movie. But to each his own.
Can you hear it? “Okay kids, get in the car. We’re going to the clinic so mom can get rid of your brother or sister. And if you’re good we’ll go to mickey D’s afterward!”?
Don’t have any alcohol or marijuana for 24 hours before your appointment.
Apparently, illegally smoking a doobie on the way home is okey-dokey! Maybe you could speed, drive drunk or steal a candy bar too. As long as it’s after the procedure!
MK, I saw someone bring in two toddlers last week. The guy had snacks and juice boxes. It was like they had packed for a day at the park. Weird.
Carrie,
So much for making fun of the “survivors” theory.
Those kids are true “survivors”. It could just as easily have been them 4 years previous.
How do parents decide which of their children should be allowed life, and which should die?
I myself, have wanted to kill my sons on many occasion, but I’ve wanted to kill them all equally, and it was waaaaay after they were born.
Seriously, tho, how do you say “this one dies”, “this one lives”…eenie meeie minie moe?
MK, LMAO! Yes. It’s okay to keep your doobie in the ashtray of your car, and put the 40 oz. under the seat. Be good parents, and let the kids watch the stuff for you. They will have to remain in the car. What’s the big deal over child endangerment? The abortion clinic won’t tell.
catch a tiger by the toe……
Carrie, snacks and juice boxes? Really? What a great dad. Did he have a 40 oz. of beer in his hand? How about a doobie?
if he hollers, suck him out through the hose…
eenie, meenie, minie moe.
You’re out.
Some people use them in sexual contact, although surgical gloves are probably more common[citation needed]. Finger cots are most often used for fingering of the vagina and anus, and can be effective in reducing the transmission of most STDs (the most notable exceptions are herpes and Human Papilloma Virus). However, latex surgical gloves are generally considered more effective for sexual contact than finger cots, due to the latter item’s limited coverage of the finger and the impracticality of having multiple fingers covered by finger cots. In particular, finger cots usually do not cover the web or palm of the hand, allowing fluids to come in contact with skin and therefore potentially cause disease transmission.
Just one more example of giving people a false sense of security. Unless of course this is put in the “Safer Sex” kit for those wishing to type after sex?
Also, I couldn’t help but notice, the abortion clinic doesn’t tell the woman not to shoot smack or smoke crack prior to their appointment. Does that mean it would be okay to do so? The message also screams “We don’t really give a rat’s ass if your are an alcoholic or a pot head.” “Just don’t you dare croak on our abortion table!”
‘I Have Had an Abortion,’ Mag Asks Women to Declare
By Alison Espach
CNSNews.com Correspondent
August 01, 2006
(CNSNews.com) – Ms. Magazine’s latest pro-abortion message invites women and girls who have undergone the procedure to submit their names for inclusion in the magazine and sign an online petition stating that “I have had an abortion.”
The petition targets the recent South Dakota abortion ban, which has been stayed until voters in the state decide on the November ballot whether they want to overturn the ban.
“Whatever happens in South Dakota, 17 states now have trigger laws or pre-Roe bans that will ban abortion if the Supreme Court were to reverse Roe v. Wade,” Ms. Magazine warns.
The South Dakota case is the likeliest avenue for Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in 1973, to eventually be challenged in the nation’s highest court.
The Ms. Magazine petition asks females to “publicly join the millions of women in the United States who have had an abortion in demanding a repeal of laws that restrict women’s reproductive freedom.” Then the magazine asks for money.
Judie Brown, president of the American Life League, told Cybercast News Service that the pitch from Ms. Magazine takes “absurdity to a new level with a campaign bragging about their past abortions.”
“These women are celebrating an act of violence that has proven traumatic for millions of mothers and deadly for their innocent pre-born children,” Brown stated. “We know from all the research that’s been done that most woman who have aborted their children are number one, not proud of what they did, and number two, are not going to come out and publicly say that they are,” she said.
But Ms. Magazine insists that abortion is “a very common, necessary and important procedure for millions of women in the U.S.” and promises to send all of the petition signatures it collects to the Bush White House.
According to Ms. Magazine, illegal abortions in the 1970s caused untold suffering in the United States, “especially for poor women who had to resort to unsafe self-induced or back-alley abortions.”
The magazine also claims that in developing nations each year, “approximately 70,000 women and girls die from botched and unsafe abortions and another 500,000 maternal deaths occur,” although it does not cite the source of those statistics.
The petition states that the Bush administration’s international family planning policies, including the funding of abstinence-only education, contribute to the death toll because the policies do not provide comprehensive information and resources.
Brown cited post-abortion research conducted by the Springfield, Ill., based Elliot Institute. The Institute reported in 1997 on its survey of women eight weeks after they had undergone an abortion. Forty-four percent complained of nervous disorders, 36 percent said they experienced sleep disturbances, 31 percent said they regretted their decision and 11 percent admitted that they had been prescribed psychotropic drugs by their family doctor.
“Of course, it is in the best interest of the feminist movement to make sure the women don’t have a guilty conscience or negative feelings towards their abortion,” Brown added.
The Ms. Magazine campaign, Brown said is fueled by fears of the growing “pro-life” movement.
“The biggest reason why they are doing this is because they are petrified,” said Brown. “The pro life movement has made tremendous advances in Congress, in the state legislatures and it continues to move forward. And I think that some of this is to frighten the complacent woman who has had an abortion into thinking that if they don’t do something they will lose their ‘right to abortion.'”
Feminist Gloria Steinem founded Ms. Magazine in 1971 and served as its aggressive spokeswoman for many years. But since 2001 the magazine has been owned by the Feminist Majority Foundation, whose president is Eleanor Smeal.
In 2006 Steinem’s name doesn’t appear until the 12th paragraph of a “HerStory” section on the magazine’s website.
Attention to SOMG: Maybe this is where you heard about maternal deaths. No sources were sited. They probably made them up!
“Just don’t you dare croak on our abortion table!”
lol
Nearly 90 percent of doctors of freestanding abortion clinics are on probation with the state Medical Board
Doug, @@ back at you. I found that article fair and square. Refute it, if at all possible.
Heather, it’s so obviously false that it’s best for the Pro-Choice side if you stick with it.
“Found it fair and square” – if you had a penny for every false thing on pro-life websites, it’d be your turn to buy dinner, to say the least.
Doug
What’s false Doug? I have listed several corrupt abortionists above. I guess you could make phone calls to each individual prison. Ask and find out if they are really incarcerated. What more can I do? You can check these things through your search engine. However, I don’t think we need to go to such extremes.
Heather, what is false is your “90 percent” quote.
Can you find some info to refute it?
I’d be just as happy with it if you’d said “120 percent.”
Re: Preparing For Appointments – here’s a winner:
One PP site I saw (I can’t remember which one) told girls to bring their own SANITARY PAD for the ride home. Bring their OWN???????
Gabby, please tell me you’re joking. AAGGHHH!
Heather,
I’m not kidding.
With all of the money those crooks have? Gheesh!
FOUND IT!
I’m not sure if this link will work, but I’ll try. I found the web site
that said bring your own (2) sanitary pads when you come for your abortion. Why am I not surprised????? IT’S PLANNED PARENTHOOD CHICAGO AREA!!!!! Go to http://www.gynpages.com/ppchicago/appointment.html.
Here is an abortion clinic in my state. I know a few women who have gone here. They don’t really take this kind of time with you.
They took at least that much time with me. Which was a little annoying as my situation was a bit different being that it was my choice to avoid a potentially very dangerous miscarriage. But that didn’t prevent them from giving me thorough counscelling.
I can remember just once wishing to snatch my daughter bald headed but never once wishing to kill either of my children. For someone that obsesses about the unborn, you certainly seem to have a bent sense of humor over your own children.
Sally,
Yes, Sally, I joked about killing my kids.
As opposed to you, who actually killed hers.
“But that didn’t prevent them from giving me thorough counscelling.”
Apparently, the counselling wasn’t thorough enough cuz it didn’t work…..
After reading through this thread, I have pretty much decided that the whole “love the sinner, hate the sin” stance is utter bullcrap.
Stephanie, what do you mean? You keep saying that you wish abortion would go away. Well, get out there and help to make it happen!
What I mean is, I don’t see very good models on this website or anywhere else for “love the sinner hate the sin” mentality that some people have. I don’t think it’s possible to do it.
And I can’t make abortion go away in my present situation. And I doubt I would do it in a way that you would want.
Well, stop complaining then. You are “too good” I suppose.
Sally,
My son ran a marthon a couple of weeks ago. My daughter will be done with her masters in a few more weeks. What are your kids doing? Learning to wipe their behinds?
Do you simply like killing your kids slowly with your insecurities?
Sally, WE ARE NOT talking about grown children. We are saying that abortion is murder. A child who has been aborted won’t ever run marathons or get masters degrees.
My son ran a marthon a couple of weeks ago. My daughter will be done with her masters in a few more weeks. What are your kids doing? Learning to wipe their behinds?
Why am I not impressed. Oh, because you treat your children like objects, not people you love. Your son is apparently nothing to you but a trophy to say “Look at me! I’m the mother to a marathon runner!” What else do you love about him, Sally?
Would you love your daughter less if she hadn’t obtained her precious degree? If you couldn’t brag about her and say, “Look at me! I grew a daughter who has a degree…what have you done?”
MaryKay’s children are so fortunate. They know that they don’t have to “do” anything to “earn” her affection. She loves them for who they are, no matter what they do. It’s sad that your children won’t know how that feels. They must work to be good enough for you.
Bethany, excellent! I don’t know about you, but running marathons isn’t all that impressive. Masters degrees? So? I know a lot of people who have those.
I’ll agree with Bethany! Sally, you are bragging too much about your children’s accomplishments. Don’t get me wrong, there isn’t anything wrong with that, but you act as though you are putting them on display. Bethany said it best “A couple of trophies.”
Jill,
Just ran across this post…and I know this is not a coincidence. This past weekend I spoke to University students about the need for life affirming pregnancy care for college students…and the truth about how abortion hurts women…for a lifetime. On my to the speaking engagement, I was just remembering a college paper I had written, while a student at Robert Morris College (now RMU) in Pittsburgh. It was paper about a young girl who was traumatized physically and emotionally after an abortion. She told about the nightmares she was having about her baby being torn apart. I was wondering about the astute professor that called me into her office and told me she wanted to refer me for “help”…she realized the young girl that I wrote about was me.
It was 34 years ago, I was a 19 year old freshmen at Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh. I was referred to a Planned Parenthood office for a pregnancy test by a friend. I went for help…Planned Parenthood of Pittsburgh advised abortion, told me that my baby was just a “blob”. I had gone to PP for help in a very vulnerable time. It was January of 73 and PP made the appointment for the abortion…after the pregnancy test. I was not “educated” or informed about all the options…the abortion procedure…or about my baby’s development. There were about 40 other young women in the Planned Parenthood abortion facility that day. Our money, our babies, and our lives were taken. None of us were told the truth. Planned Parenthood continued to refer me…and other students for abortion. Our lives were never the same.
Cyndi, great post! Please come back again!
A former RMU student relives her abortion
My post last week on Robert Morris University’s Day of Service, which included an “opportunity” to help the local Planned Parenthood pack safer sex kits, yielded a comment from former RMU student Cynthia Collins, pictured right. Cynthia is now the…
