I still have the magazine article from when they were little. I think they are amazing young ladies!!
Hi Carla,
I agree! Theirs is such a heartwarming story. What a perfect example for the rest of us of the self-sacrifice of one human being for another. I wish them all the best! Happy 16th Birthday Abby and Brittany!
Hi Janet!
When they said they wanted to be mommys I cried.
LOVE their family too!! :)
If you ever come to Philadelphia, visit the Mutter Museum. They have a very interesting display on cojoined twins, which apparently have been known since antiquity. They have information about the Thai brothers, I think their names were Chang and Eng, who gave the world the term “Siamese twins.” Chang and Eng were just joined by a band of flesh and could have been separated, but the medical technology was not sophisticated enough at this time (around the Civil War) for this type of surgery.
Hi Carla!
Was that the Life magazine? I have a copy of that too. It seems like their family has touched the right balance of being protective and private enough without being overbearing or fearful. What a nice family! :)
They want to get married and have children.
??????
They are two people. Philosophically are they one body?
One or two husbands? I can’t image two because philosophically and biologically they are one body.
Enter Genesis 2:24.
Very, very extraordinary.
That’s amazing! I saw them on Oprah when they were little and often wondered what they were up to. I’m glad they are doing so well, and seem to have fit in naturally into their school. May the Lord continue to bless them!
I guess they are now in college and are doing well. You can’t help but be inspired by their positive attitudes.
Cranky Catholic,
I have often wondered about how conjoined twins would ever be able to experience a ‘normal’ romantic relationship. I don’t think that is the right question anymore. God created us for so much more than romantic and sexual love. Although I consider those great blessings, they are not the only blessings that make life satisfying. In our society, sexuality is seen as the core of who we are. That is why the homosexual agenda has been pushed so far.
I’m not sure how these particular girls lives will play out, but I know that God has an amazing plan for their life that will have purpose and that will satisfy and fulfill them.
I know you weren’t insinuating otherwise. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.
My goodnes…are they this old already? The last time I saw a program about them, I think they were seven. How time flies! :)
Chang and Eng were married and had many children.
I have a feeling that whatever Abby and Brittany have planned will somehow become reality. :)
Hi Kay,
Sorry I missed your question. I don’t know where that article is at the moment and wow I am NOT looking under my bed. Ugh.
I keep watching this video. They are such pretty young girls and “carry on” like teenage girls do…:) OH, and I love that they are driving.
Hi Carla,
I forgot I even asked the question so that will tell you how many cylinders I am running on this week. :) AND the stuff under my bed is the least of my concerns compared to the rest of my house right now.
I liked how the girls and their mom discussed who would get the ticket if that became an issue. So many things to figure out that we all take for granted.
