True story. A few years ago, when Katie first came to CBS News, I
worked as the editor of her blog Couric & Co.
One afternoon, I
had a meeting with her in her office overlooking the CBS newsroom. Her
suite of offices is gorgeous: white-on-white, with a marble desk and
gorgeous black-and-white prints on the walls. (Think The Devil Wears Prada, and you’ll get the picture. Staffers used to refer to it as “The White
Palace” or, more derisively, “White Castle.”)
On the back wall is a
lovely, dramatic picture of Jackie Kennedy and her children. Other
iconic women on the walls included Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt,
Audrey Hepburn.
When Katie arrived for our meeting, I was admiring the
pictures, but noticed one woman who was unfamiliar to me. “Who’s
that?,” I asked.
“Margaret Sanger,” she replied.
And I think that tells you everything you need to know.

That tells you everything you need to know indeed. Like Sarah Palin, who Katie thought was a complete idiot, would say “You Betcha”. No need to say any more. We know you are pro-death and a cold-blooded pro-abort Katie. How dare a pro-life woman who had the nerve to carry a DS “unfit and imperfect” baby to term be a vice-presidential candidate. The nerve of her.

Nice rhyme! Speaking of Sanger, she also lives on in her grandson, Alexander Sanger. He is currently Chair of the International Planned Parenthood Council.

Mr. Sanger speaks around the country and the world and has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund.
We don’t hear much about him in the MSM and I wonder why. Has anyone read his book “Beyond Choice” (2004) ?

Janet,
I’ve never heard of Sanger’s grandson. I just ordered “Beyond Choice” from my library system. I’ll see if I can get through it. I can only read stuff written by proaborts in bits and pieces. Too much at a time and I get somewhat depressed.
Someone recently said Jill’s site is a port in the storm. I agree! I come here to keep my sanity in this crazy world.

“Vargas said her unexpected departure was a result of the demands of the job — and the demands of being the mother of a 3-year-old, with another child due this summer. “For now, for this year, I need to be a good mother,” she said in an interview on Friday, a few hours before anchoring her last newscast.”
“Her pregnancy, she said, was another unexpected event. Vargas said her first child was delivered after an emergency Caesarean section three years ago; she’ll undergo a scheduled C-section for her second (“I know — too much information!”). That will mean at least six to eight weeks of maternity leave, which Vargas said creates a long period of discontinuity for viewers and for “World News Tonight’s” staff.”
Vargas acknowledged that it’s “a struggle” for working mothers to balance work and family obligations, but added, “I don’t think there are a lot of lessons to be drawn from my example because this is a unique job. You can’t leave the audience wondering who’s in charge for weeks or months, and you can’t not give 150 percent to a staff and a team who are so enormously dedicated.”
But that still leaves Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization for Women unsatisfied. “If she can’t have it all,” she said, “who among us could?”

After Vargas completes her maternity leave she will return to work on one of ABC’s other news programs where the hours and the responsibilities will not be quite as demanding as co-anchoring the nightly news.
Vargas weighed her options and made an informed ‘choice’ to give a little more attention to her children and a little less time to her career.
The NOW cows herd of heifers are just not happy with the ‘choice’ Vargas made.
It doesn’t conform to their view of womanhood.
