Quote of the Day 6-24-10
You don’t understand that being life bearing nurturers is something that makes women special, not lesser. You, instead, think that women are stupid, shouldn’t be “trapped” by a child, and should be protected victims of their own actions….
As women who respect and support other women, because Pro-Life is Pro-Woman, this is what we “can’t be real feminists” women do. We unhinged nutty nuts help women, instead of urging them to abort. We help them truly have it all, education, career and motherhood via personal responsibility. We trust and have faith that they can do so, unlike you.
… It doesn’t take a village to raise a child. But, conservative women know that sometimes it takes one to save a child’s life. Or, 50 million of them.
So, you see, Miss Steinem – Women, and their children born and unborn, need feminists like fish need bicycles.
~Lori Ziganto, Hot Air, June 24

“Women, and their children born and unborn, need feminists like fish need bicycles.”
Well said!!!!!
EXCELLENT!!!! Hope to hear more from her!!
I liked that article on every point but one. When Ziganto says “You are antithetical to feminism and can no longer claim that term as your own. We are taking it back. Not to use, as it’s unnecessary; we know that we have equality already.” she is–unfortunately–dead wrong. Women are not equal.
Yes, we’ve won a lot of important battles, and I do not feel that that’s an unimportant point. Nor do I deny that, in places with active women’s movements, women are treated more equally than they have been in the past.
But when I hear people casually blame rape victims for their attacks, and when I hear people say that it’s rough for a girl whose mother just died and that it must be harder for her because she’s pretty than it would be for a girl who was plain, and when I see men like Christopher Eccleston and Greg Grunberg have successful acting careers and know that no woman could hope to have equal success, and when I, personally, get paid less for working the same job that a man who was hired after me works–and doing it better, to boot–I know that women are not equal.
Feminism is not dead, unnecessary, irrelevant, or out-of-work. Women can vote, and work, and hold office, and wear pants now. Yay! Those are important battles. But they’re hardly the only ones to be fought.
Go Lori! This is a thing of beauty.
It isn’t about “choice,” it’s about abortion. The Steinem-feminists don’t even want to look at what abortion is, or why women “choose” abortion. They just want you to have abortions, period. They don’t even see the need to eliminate the perceived “need” for abortion. How does this help women?
Steinem says she supports our “right to be wrong.” Well, Gloria, I support your right to be an idiot.
Ashley,
Your comment strikes me as extremely presumptuous. You know how hard she tries in her actual life to be sexy based on what? A few sarcastic posts about being a woman? A photo that you consider to be in bad taste?
Don’t get me wrong; she doesn’t really seem like someone I’d be super-friendly with, but I wouldn’t presume to know about her personality based on a few blog posts. I certainly wouldn’t lambaste her personally based off of it.
And I’d say that the whole trying too hard to come off as sexy thing happens on both sides of the aisle. I think actually it’s more likely a result of women’s “liberation” movements that argue that women should be able to dress in low-cut belly shirts with mini skirts on and expect men not to stare because women deserve respect regardless of their garb. But regardless of WHY it happens, the truth of the matter is that women who wear clothing that hugs the body tight and shows a little more cleavage than is strictly modest are all over the place and in all political parties.
Ashley,
You are the sexy one. :)
*Sigh* it’s a shame about Gloria. I used to admire her so much! Someone in her position could come out and say, “Hey, this doesn’t work, I was wrong.” Women are being hurt by this promiscuous, abortive lifestyle. Back in her day, she was outraged at the treatment of Playboy bunnies. Now look at the porn industry! It’s merely huge. Gloria, women are more objectified now than ever before in all of human history.
Ashley,
:)
Saw the article about sexy conservative bloggers and you were in the top. 10 or 20? I can’t remember.
