Lunch Break: Brand new pair of roller skates comeback!
To give us a break from the daily grind…
My new favorite commercial features an adorable baby and a song that is a BIG comeback hit.
And here’s the original commercial. Look at the clothing, shoes and hairdo’s that the kids are wearing. LOL!
Who is brave enough to admit wearing those roller skates from 40 years ago?
Finally, should we tally our votes as to whether or not we like this song? I vote a big YES - love this kooky song!
Email LauraLoo with your Lunch Break suggestions.

I have the metal pair I used to wear when I visited my grandma. And yes. I still have the key!!
Saw the commercial last week on an online episode. I had a feeling it would turn up here!
Never wanted to skate. I have enough trouble walking! And since I could never even learn to whistle or blow bubble gum, why take the chance? :)
Carla – how exciting that you kept the skates and key. I forgot where you inserted the key, can you help me remember?
Hans - I agree, why take the chance? :)
I just took them out and used the key to tighten and loosen the metal part where the toe of you shoe goes.
Thanks for checking! LL
This happy-go-lucky song never bothered me until I saw and heard the book tour interviews of the Girls Like Us book that came out a couple of years ago, about the lives of Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Carly Simon and their part in our changing culture of 40 years ago. Gave me pause.
Kate, I hadn’t heard of that book before. Sounds interesting. I thought the original singer of the song was Melanie.
Editing…
Okay, I finally found the video with the original song, lol. What a hoot! Loved the trip down memory lane.
That commercial has been playing on TV in our area, I’ve heard the song, but just now saw it. Enjoyed it too!
