Quote of the Day 12-11-10
As it is, all we did was kiss. Nowadays many children are at it younger than 14. And I worry they’re being pressured into it.
There’s a lovely stage of innocence that is essential to one’s development and to be constantly battered with the fact that you’ve got to have it off with somebody or as many people as possible, and if you’re not you’re a wimp, is awfully sad.
~ 77-yr-old British actress Sheila Hancock, as quoted in The Telegraph, December 3

Exactly – which is why we need to help preserve our children’s sense of self, responsibility and sensibility. This is why abstinence education is key – it’s about self-mastery. It’s about loving yourself and others. It’s about promoting the very best – not a second-rate imitation of what adults have in a sacramental, covenantal love-based and true marriage.
The culture is going the wrong way and parents are the first line of defense. Social policy should help toward the common good – not entice the young into a lifestyle that is bankrupt and deadly. We have lost too much and too many to a life style that is fake and usury.
I love her use of the word ‘innocence’ – something that we have lost today.
But all is not lost. One family at a time, one community at a time… After all, God’s grace is powerful and beautiful.
