Quote of the Day 1-7-11
That’s one of the things I like about abortion doula work – I can make time for it in my schedule, in my life, without having to be ready to drop everything for 24 hours for a long birth.
It’s selfish, I know, but it’s been part of what’s allowed me to get back into it.
~ Miriam Zoila Pérez, Radical Doula, January 6

Ewwwww. Wish I hadn’t read this before breakfast. How absolutely sick-making.
Abortion doula = accomplice to murder.
I round the corner and enter the floor, delicately labeled Women’s Choices where the procedures will take place. I walk into the makeshift office/empty procedure room where the Residents/Doctors who will be performing the procedures sit debriefing the morning’s cases.
chock full of euphemisms…..
funny how she just can’t bring herself to face what it is she helps with. Let’s help her:
“I round the corner and enter the floor, Abortion Ward where unborn babies are killed.I walk into the makeshift office/empty abortion room where the abortionists who will be performing the abortions sit debriefing the morning’s cases. ”
The procedure itself takes under ten minutes, including set up and clean up. ….
Some brief suction, a quick examination of the contents by the doctors and the procedure is over.
should read:
“The abortion itself takes under ten minutes, including set up and clean up…
Some brief suction, a quick examination of the mangled parts of the dead baby by the abortionists and the abortion is over.”
I doubt this will help this poor deluded young woman.
What an affront to those women who are practicing doulas. I had a doula for three of my births. She was wonderful. Another honorable profession corrupted – we now have to specify we want a “birth” doula???
“Doing this work so glaringly reveals the deficiencies of our health care system. How little support doctors and nurses are able to provide, either because they are too busy, because they don’t speak the right language, because they are attending to process and procedure. Because they can’t bill an insurance company for simply listening. It also shows the deficiencies and injustices in our society. How many people feel mistreated in their lives, feel unsupported, feel unheard.”
what about the unborn baby – abandoned and definitely unheard.
God have mercy on you woman. :(
This reminds me of an OB GYN in Wilson County TN who gave up her practice to do abortions in Nashville. When some of her former patients who were shocked and outraged went to her to beg her not to do such a terrible thing, she actually told them she could make more money working part time doing abortions than she made full time delivering babies and then she could spend more time with her own children!!!!!!
“The abortion process, on the other hand, is very predictable. Procedures are very similar, usually quick, a patient not staying in the clinic of hospital more than a few hours max. My abortion doula work so far has been with women having first trimester procedures, which are the quickest and easiest of the procedures one can have. That’s one of the things I like about abortion doula work–I can make time for it in my schedule, in my life, without having to be ready to drop everything for 24 hours for a long birth. It’s selfish, I know, but it’s been part of what’s allowed me to get back into it.”
Doesn’t this quote sum up the whole mentality of the abortion worldview? Bottom line, isn’t this the real reason why most women have abortions? Life is busy. We Americans have places to go and people to meet. We can’t let an unplanned pregnancy stop our forward progress. Yes, my dear. It is selfish. You’ve got that right.
She says they are aborting ectopic pregnancies in an office space? Not likely. Big fat lie. That requires surgery. In a HOSPITAL.
First abortion corrupted the medical profession and now they are taking doulas which used to mean helping bring life into the world and tainting a worthy profession with death. DISGUSTING.
And will this doula be there for these women in two years when they are bawling over the loss of their babies? Will she be there to explain away the guilt when they are pregnant with a wanted child watching that baby move and twirl on ultrasound? Will this doula be there when years later these women have trouble getting pregnant because of scar tissue caused by the abortion? Will this doula be there when the women have nightmares, are drinking themselves silly and suffering in relationships poisoned by the abortion? Yeah, didn’t think so.
The reason the procedure is done quickly is because there are other women sitting around waiting. Time is money!
It was like a cattle drive when I had mine.
A couple of my friends got into it with me about abortion doula’s at PP. One claimed she had a friend who did them and she was actually convinced her friend was delivering live babies, which would be funny if it wasn’t so terribly tragic. The other defender would go on about how many wonderful health services PP offers. Well, recently she was really ill, at the moment has no health insurance, and she went to the PP building to see if they would treat her for her cold/flu. She was turned away, of course! I privately laughed my tuckuss off, but I didn’t have the heart to say, “I told you so.”
Wow! An abortion doula how pathetic, I think I will go puke now. You stand by and watch a woman deliver a dead baby and cheer the woman on. I worked with laboring women for years never was I there to support a woman that was deliberately killing her unborn baby. You could not make up this stuff. This is from the pit of hell, it is satanic and sick. Yuck! PP’s mantra “Every woman who wants a dead baby deserves to get on, for $400-500 a pop, and we’ll let you hire a death guardian to boot, for a price.” How much does she charge?
Evil.
I agree, Gina. Life gets in the way; people get in the way. Babies “get in the way,” both for the mother and for the healthcare profesionals who deliver babies. Abortion is quick and easy – back to business as usual, without any of the inconveniences of life getting in the way of your plans. Take your exams on schedule, don’t bother canceling your diinner reservations – in, out, and back to normal.
I feel similarly about our general trend in medicine, especially labor/delivery – inductions, scheduled c-sections, etc. The doctor can go home on time, the mom doesn’t need to wait around, everyone can just go on with as little inconvenience as possible. It’s weird. I wish we could all slow down. (I am not saying that inductions or c-sections are never necessary – they are vital sometimes! Thank goodness we have such technology. I just get creeped out by using things like that for the sake of convenience.)
I don’t begrudge anyone a non-invasive, undemanding career. If that’s what you want – go for it! I see no moral issue with wanting a convenient job. But I do find it revealing that it is being an abortion doula that is the ‘convenient’ job, the easy-to-work-with-my-other-plans job. Because that’s what abortion is. Life is inconvenient and hard to work into pre-existing plans, but what do we - as individuals and as a culture – sacrifice, knowingly and unknowingly, for the sake of convenience?
I looked up the Oxford Online Dictionary to look up the meaning of the word “doula” so I wouldn’t be mistaken in my comment about the definition.
Nowhere in the definition did it say “helps perform abortion” http://oxforddictionaries.com/view/entry/m_en_us1241767#m_en_us1241767
I’ve heard other times of so-called “abortion doulas”. It’s a sad commentary on our times when something that’s supposed to mean assisting a woman in childbirth and offering support after to the family comes to me assisting in the ending of a pre-born human being’s life.
“selfish”..indeed! This makes me ill. “That’s one of the things I like…”. One of the things? What’s the other…dead babies? You like seeing dead babies?
I looked a couple of other places…still no mention of “doula” being associated with abortion (I even looked on WebMD):
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary also doesn’t have abortion services in its definition of “doula” either: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/doula
I didn’t find abortion in the definition of “doula” on this Dictionary site either: http://fact-archive.com/encyclopedia/Doula
Well, if I decide to use a doula when I give birth in August, I’ll make sure I request a birthing doula and not an abortion doula.
Sydney, no, this doula will not be there later when the post-abortive women are hit with regret, anger, and depression. The abortion clinic staff wasn’t there for me when I reached out to them for help. What happened to their motto, “Abortion with counseling?”
This is so disturbed.
And I’m sure PP and other abortionists love this! Her primary job is to tell the woman “you can’t” under the guise of “you can”.
you can’t… support this child
you can’t… handle pregnancy
you can’t… deal with everyone’s judgement
you can’t… afford the prenatal/l&d costs
you can’t… be useful with a child
you can’t… be happy with a child
you can’t be happy with a child
you can’t be happy with a child
:(
(you can go through with this. you can get on with your life. you can undo having gotten pregnant. you can “terminate the pregnancy” without repercussion. you can feel good about your decision forever)
It’s so upsetting. And doulas are such a wonderful blessing to expecting mothers, that it’s just awful, having these hacks butcher the title! Doulas, who devote their profession to helping women bring forth life! “Abortion doulas,” who devote a small chunk of their time to making money off of scared and isolated women, by encouraging them to kill their babies. :(
I’m off to go cuddle my boys.
Mary Rose, your list of “can’t” is unsettling and true. How does abortion empower women? How?
And abortion “doula” is the wrong term. It should be “accomplice.”
I’m sorry, I know this isn’t going to change anyone’s mind, and everyone commenting is set on condemning anything abortion-related, but… deal with it. Life isn’t all sunshine and giggles. There are BILLIONS of people living on this Earth right now and not everything is going to go smoothly. Just because you people like children and having them doesn’t give you the right to condemn those that don’t. Think them cold, cruel and callous but I don’t see any anti-abortionists adopting all the unwanted babies. Face facts- life isn’t perfect. You can take away legal abortion, but I guarantee- GUARANTEE that they will always exist in one form or another.
That all said, I wish abortion didn’t have to happen and I personally never would go through with one, but I accept it and realize that everyone makes their own choices in life and I cannot stop them. Get over yourselves and find a cause that isn’t so inflammatory. Neither side will win, sorry.
Hi Rianne,
Welcome!!
And good luck to you!!
Rape is going to happen, deal with it.
Child abuse is going to happen, deal with it.
Armed robbery is going to happen, deal with it.
Murder is going to happen, deal with it.
Embezzlement is going to happen, deal with it.
….Okay……
Sorry, Rianne, the senseless killing of babies (and their dehumanization) for the sake of convenience isn’t something I am willing to “deal” with.
I don’t care if people don’t want children. They can use birth control. Women don’t HAVE to have babies. But once a woman is pregnant, she is already a mother, and she has no right at all to have that baby dismembered and incinerated–and nobody has the right to take that life away from that child, ever.
Mary Rose,
Quite a list. And yes that is the message.
I will cuddle my boys too! :)
Thanks,
Another point I would like to address is that the quote is definitely taken out of context. If you read the actual article, she expands on her experience and is doing it to be there for the woman in such a stressful moment. No one is saying abortion is a happy or easy decision, but if one chooses to go that route, there needs to be a support network, instead of a bash-fest from internet judges.
Whatever, I just happened upon this site and decided to speak my mind, pointless I know, I just felt compelled to do so.
Peace to all of you! :)
Rianne
Marylee,
I get what you are saying, I do, truly. But, you seem to be de-humanizing the people that have and perform abortions. These are people that are making a tough decision, and the people that perform them are providing a service that there is a demand for. Not everything is as black and white as you would believe. We don’t know the lives of these people, and we don’t know what brought them to this point.
I don’t know, I am just trying to see things from both sides and it’s so extreme (the viewpoints) that I feel I must take the approach of an unbiased observer.
I didn’t NEED an abortion doula 20 years ago Rianne.
I needed someone to get me the H*** out of there before I went through with it.
There are several post abortive moms here that would love to let you know how it went for them!!
Rianne,
Welcome!
There is so much hurt and injustice in the world. There are so many difficult decisions to be made. There is so much pain and suffering. Why do you support the perpetuation of this injustice? Why do you support extending this pain and suffering to the most vulnerable and weakest of our kind? Why not shelter them?
Women who have abortions are victims of Satan’s lies. The abortionists who neatly kill their children are somewhere between deluded by Lucifer and self-deluded. The nurses and those who help sadly also have been fed lies by the Enemy. Do not allow yourself to be so deluded. Open your eyes to the atrocities we are committing! Open your eyes to the life being taken! There are such better more wonderful options out there! Do not allow despair and lies to rule your life!
These are people that are making a tough decision, and the people that perform them are providing a service that there is a demand for.
Uh, there’s a demand for hit-men too.
This woman is an abortion ghoula not doula.
Rianne said: ”But, you seem to be de-humanizing the people that have and perform abortions.”
What is the decision they are making?
Do we dehumanize their children by ignoring them?
Aren’t their children dehumanized into blobs of tissue so there’s no emotional attachment?
Life and death are not merely talking points in some sort of debate – they are reality.
You’re not unbiased – there is no neutrality when it comes to life and death.
Rianne, I understand what you’re saying. I’m guessing you’re pretty young. I’m a little older; I’m a pescatarian rape-survivor, and for a while, I was also a single mother. So I know how tough this world is. Some things ARE black and white. Killing is NEVER OKAY. Never. I’m not dehumanizing the people who have abortions—I’m angry with them. I would never call them NOT HUMAN. I would never make excuses to kill them. I don’t agree with any killing at all. Except, well, I do eat fish (doctor’s orders)….
Rianne, I’m afraid you’re wrong when it comes to the issue of abortion. It IS “black and white”. Killing a child is ALWAYS wrong. You’re right, though..life IS hard, but killing your child doesn’t make life easier. Just ask any of the post-abortive mothers on this blog. They’ll tell you that, in so many ways, abortion makes your life HARDER. My niece found that out. Having an abortion doesn’t get rid of your problems… it just gets ‘rid’ of your baby.
Plus 3 from the new kid = $37
You know, before Coca-Cola and Pepsi were marketed, there was NO DEMAND for them. Nowhere in historical documents do you read that John Hancock couldn’t sign the Declaration of Independence until he had his ice cold Pepsi. It’s called M-A-R-K-E-T-I-N-G.
And I just love the adoption knock: Hey, Ri, if you’d all stop killing so many babies, maybe I could adopt instead of being told I’m beyond the cut off age. Or maybe you think celebrities have to buy kids in foreign countries because American kids aren’t as cute.
I wonder how many people adopting from Reese’s Rainbow are pro-choice? Would they be willing to spend 10 000$-25 000$ to adopt 1, 2,3,4 children with disabilities on the verge of going to an institution for the rest of their lives? How many give 10$ or 5$ to help someone with the cost of the adoption?

Rhi… tell the politicians to stop trying to mandate adoption laws into making them so flippin’ HARD to adopt… there are so many families out there crying out to adopt. I know so many families that have adopted and guess what.. they didn’t adopt newborns, let alone children of their own race/ ethnic background. I’ve got a friend that is as lilly white as the snow with the darkest of children because they’re adopted. She would LOVE to adopt more but DAAAYUM it’s SO stinkin’ expensive and the paper trails are LONG. You tell me why it’s so stinkin’ expensive for people that WANT to support these babies but yet it’s SO cheap for the mom’s to just kill the baby instead. Guess who’s making the most money? Sure isn’t the adoption agencies!
The definition of doula includes the word “childbirth”. So by definition, doula shouldn’t even be used to describe a woman that assists another woman in killing a child.
Rhi, it doesn’t matter how many children are or are not adopted. Even if no child is ever adopted again, it doesn’t make KILLING them in the womb okay.
But for the record, I know many pro-lifers who have adopted. My own sister is trying to adopt right now but as dirtdartwife pointed out it is insanely expensive. If you are not upper class you can pretty much go into major debt trying to adopt. You got 30-40K to pull out of your pocket Rhi? Yeah. I didn’t think so. Pro-lifers don’t either. Yet many do try to scrape funds together to adopt. And don’t even mention foster care. The majority of kids in foster care are NOT eligible for adoption. Most judges try to reunite the parents and children even after YEARS of being “in the system”. There is a family at my moms church whose children are grown but they were foster parents to this toddler. They took care of her for years and now that they are trying to adopt her the birth grandmother has suddenly decided she wants this granddaughter she has never even tried to visit. Its so sad. Adopting foster children can be an emotional nightmare.
And yet the amount of children I do or do not adopt does not change the fact that abortion ends the life of a living human child developing within his mother’s womb.
Doula is a “bond slave”. A servant totally at the disposal of their master. A doula who ties themselves with the death culture is totally confused. A huge distortion of truth. Service to Satan. We are to honor life with humility and gentleness. We live in a messed up world, sick in the mind. (Rom 8:7-8) calling “good” evil, and “evil” good.
Having affection for the mother and not her child, just doesn’t make sense.
I believe that women definetly deserve better than abortion. It’s a violent act. Isn’t there enough violence against women in the world? But instead of people being accusatory and judgemental shouldn’t we focus our energies towards charities that help counsel women (and not just a half a dozen times–I’m talking years) before and after they decide to parent or adopt? As well as their families, and the fathers (who often aren’t accepting of a decision to not abort). Shouldn’t we focus our energies to providing places for these women to live, and towards baby supplies and job training that will ultimatley make a woman’s life better. I believe that a majority of abortions occus because women feel that they don’t have any other choice. Something like 48% of abortions are done on college women. Because of no or limited resources on college campuses women feel the choice between an educations and her baby is the only option. Why can’t college give a leave of abscense for women who give birth, why isn’t there housing for women who are parenting or pregnant (and their partners if they decide not to marry). At the college I went to you had to move out of married housing before a child was born and STILL not get back the deposit required (ironically, about the price of an abortion) when moving onto campus. And off campus housing is usually very pricey. If more Pro-lifers with extra money (or even 10 dollars) donated to causes that built family housing on campuses, and childcare, affordable off campus housing for parenting colleg students, as well as lobby for legislation that requires housing for student who chose to live on campus and parenting students–married or not– (not letting a child live on campus, in my opinion, is a form of ageism and discrimination). And seriously, their arguements of , well girls will get pregnant on purpse is absolutley ridiculous. Where I went to school a friend of mine got pregnant. When she went to health services the doctor actually told her that an abortion was the best option for her. And housing didn’t want her to move in to the dorms 4 months pregnant (her baby was due over Christmas and she was making an adoption plan or was going to live off campus). It was ridiculous. If we all did simple thing, lobbied for better conditions for parenting students, and policy that encouraged parenting students to get insurance for their child and services through health services, as well as tried to raise money to help build places for them to live on or adjacent to college campuses I firmly (as well as many others) believe that the number of abortions would drop dramatically. As for an abortion “doula”…there needs to be a different name assigned at the very least. I know several that would be appaled to know their choice calling in life, as they feel it to be, was associated with abortion. If we give women more options, there would be less abortions. It’s time we quite throwing stones and helped those in need out.
Hi Haley,
the pro-lifers who comment on this site DO all that while we condemn abortion. I am perfectly able to donate my time and my money to helping moms AFTER they give birth while speaking out and “judging” abortion and abortion providers at every opportunity. I will never be silent as women are hurt and babies are killed.
But I agree that pro-lifers should put their “money where their mouth is”. Many do, but many more do not and that is something I actively try to change.
I wonder how many people adopting from Reese’s Rainbow are pro-choice? Would they be willing to spend 10 000$-25 000$ to adopt 1, 2,3,4 children with disabilities on the verge of going to an institution for the rest of their lives?
My heart ACHES for those precious little ones. I wish I had that kind of money. That is what holds me back at this point.
Me, too, Kel :(
Oh, she’s radical alright. I think a better name for what she does would be “Death Doula.”
It’s selfish, I know, to want to coin her new official title, but it’s what allowed me to believe in the power and truth of words.
Hello Haley,
There are many of us who do more than comment on this prolife blog. We donate our time, money and resources to the movement.
I do agree though that there is always more that can be done!! I know quite a few prolifers in name only. They claim to be prolife but only because they are disgusted by abortion and that is as far as their involvement goes.
The blogs on each adoption story are heart warming. The only thing stopping the children from being adopted is money. My family situation in the moment is not permitting me to adopt, so this year I will focus on sending money to help the adoptions. One of the most beautiful story is of a three year old girl who has spend her life in her crib. Her disease, cockayne syndrome, will probably cause her to die prematurely. Despite this, a family has recently committed to adopting her. :) I find it, more and more disgusting when a pro-choicer accuses pro-lifers of not adopting.
Hailey,
Regarding college campus and housing, I agree, there is still alot to be done. I’m sure the idea is brewing in the hearts and minds of pro-lifers. We really do care about the mothers and the babies. Our hearts ache for the mothers, and their babies.
I do wonder, Hailey, when there is housing and programs for pregnant students, what will be the next accusation coming at us?
Lovely. The perversion of yet another institution/profession.

While more can be done, your hope that abortions will decrease if enough support is provided, is, in many ways, naive. You lack in-depth understanding of the real problem.
The true nature of the abortion beast is about as ugly as they come. Ultimately, it comes down to self-control and reverence for marriage and family, but it’s also a matter of cultural impact. As long as money and power are involved (and they are – in spades) there will always be a bend towards subjugating others to profit from their condition. To abortion-choicers and the abortion industry, open unconstrained sex is equivalent to providing drugs, which requires the addicted to seek the “solutions” they peddle.
As you anecdotally indicate, the shame that pushes abortions doesn’t come from pro-lifers – it comes from pro-aborts, who use it to continue a culture of rejection and death. (If you don’t abort that kid – you’ll be rejected too!) This is about control – not choice.
So no amount of material or emotional support will convince mothers when you understand that up to 60% of abortions are coerced by those surrounding the mother (because they want control). It’s ugly. You’ll have to have many serious heart to heart talks with post-abortive mothers to understand what I’m saying is true.
When a woman understands a man rejects her when he rejects their child, and decides that alone is a basis for not having sex with him, things might change. But I’ve come to the conclusion that’s not going to happen until both women and men have a full change of heart.
Hi Haley,
I am post-abortive and donate time, money, and supplies to Care Net, a crisis pregnancy center. They have a Mourning to Joy program to help post-abortive women begin healing from abortion. After being slammed by pro-choice people when I reached out for help, after being turned away at the abortion clinic from the supposed “counseling” that was promised, and after two suicide attempts, Care Net was there to help me. The two counselors that volunteer for the Mourning to Joy program were not judgmental when I shared my story. Their stories were not much different from mine either. It really opened my eyes to how open and loving those working in the pro-life movement are. Time is not spent “fetus-worshiping.” Time is spent providing abortion alternatives and helping post-abortive women with regret regain control of their lives. I have been active in the pro-life movement since.
My husband and I looked into adopting and it is extremely expensive and there are so many of us on the list that it will truly be a miracle when our names come up. By the time we are contacted about a prospective child, we’ll have to go through the home study, paperwork, etc., because so much time passes between applying and actually receiving a call when a child is available. The best we can do at this time is foster parenting. Foster children are just as precious because they need a stable home until their parents can get back up on their feet.
