As a parent I know 100% that I would donate anything my daughter needed no matter what the price to myself. I think most parents can identify with this mother wanting to give her daughter every chance at happiness.
That being said wouldn’t adoption be better and a lot less dangerous option for all parties concerned. This surgery puts both mom and daughter life in danger and on the chance that it succeeds there is no way to tell if it would have adverse affects on any baby in the future.
I applaud the mother courage but why risk it when there are so many children praying for someone to take them home.
Just my 2 cents…
Has this surgery been successful in the past?
Curious.
And yes, Biggz. Adoption!!
Carla – It says in the story that it has only been performed on farm animals thus far… this would be the first attempt on humans.
Thank you, Biggz.

I think this may be a first: I agree with Biggz. :P
There are actually waiting lists to adopt. It’s a very long and expensive process. One of the arguments made in favor of legalized abortion is that any additional babies put up for adoption will go into the system. This is a lie of course. There are millions of people waiting to adopt babies of all races. The children in the system now are older and generally due to abuse and neglect. A very small percentage are under five and available immediately for adoption.
I have done some charity work for the Dave Thomas Foundation in the past and although I do advocate adoption I am not so naive to think that adoption is a rosey path to parenthood or childhood. It is mostly making the best of a bad situation. A lot of the kids I have met through the Dave Thomas Foundation will never be adopted as they are over 5 years old… So even for a new born baby there is a ticking clock to be adopted because as they get older their chances get smaller.
I wish I could adopt them all myself… I truly do.
“I wish I could adopt them all myself… I truly do.”
Me too! It’s so mean how older children don’t matter to some people, makes me cry.
It’s not that they don’t matter. It’s just adopting older children out of the system comes with special challenges and risks. It’s not comparable to adopting a newborn or having a biological child. It’s offensive that it is automatically thrown out as a perfect solution to infertile couples, as if it primarily their responsibility to save difficult to place children.
