I loved ‘Growing Pains’ as I was growing up! (Big crush on Kirk Cameron.) The Seaver cast reunited yesterday on GMA.
Also in the video, 4 small-part actors that would one day be BIG Hollywood celebrities.

I grew up with the Seavers! my only question is….where was Chrissy? They had a 4th child later on in the series…
They actually didn’t adopt Luke (leonarno dicraprio)….they fostered him and then his father came back into his life and he went to live with him.
And tomorrow is Princess Bride….gotta make sure I get up early for that one. Wish I hadn’t missed the 2nd part of the Growing Pains reunion on tv today.
Man… even in the 80’s I wished that these people would get hit by a bus… but no such luck. I wonder if people still call him Boner? Or did the speaker of the house steal that title from him?
It was quite an enjoyable show in its day although I was never that enamoured with the dad character.
I just wonder what caused Kirk Cameron to become such a screaming loon.
I know right? He went from teen heart throb to crazy Christian re-knob… I guess that’s what you do when you have no other job offers lol Anyone notice that none of these actors had any kind of a career after this show was canceled?
What they forgot to mention in this is that Kirk Cameron met his future wife on the show (Chelsea Noble) and that 4 of their 6 children are ADOPTED (yes, they adopted children!)
Funny, I guess no one noticed that it said this show helped launch the careers of several actors…Matthew Perry, Hilary Swank, Leonardo Dicaprio, etc
I wish there were some decent shows like Growing Pains on television nowadays. There’s nothing but 98% trash now.
It’s great that they have adopted children but I am concerned about some of the extreme and ill-informed ‘education’ that those children may be subject to.
Yep, there was footage and mentions of those people in the video. Haven’t seen much of the actual cast of the show in anything else though.

“Boner” -real name Andrew Koenig was the son of Walter Koenig (who played “Chekov” on the t.v. series “Star Trek”). Andrew committed suicide in Vancouver B.C. February 25, 2010.

Ha. Such life-affirming commentary from the pro-aborts on this thread. Wow – it only takes the Seavers to rile you people up? :D Most actors don’t ever land even ONE large part they’re remembered for, so I’d consider the Growing Pains cast to be pretty darn fortunate.
Kirk Cameron was an atheist who became a Christian.
Brian “Head” Welch from KoRn can also be counted among the “screaming loons.” There are lots of well-known “screaming loons.” But maybe we’re not all as loony as you’d like to think.

I’ve got to see “The Robe” again. I was sure there was a scene where Caligula asked: “Are you a Chrissstian?” Hissing it as an unfamiliar word. Reality and Biggz would have fit in well in his “amen chorus”. ( Chortling out loud).
I had to look up Young Earth Creationism. Oh, the horror. Not being 6,000 years old, I couldn’t tell you for sure. Is that any less scientific than being absolutely fundamentalist on “anthroprogenic climate change”? Tell the mammoths that a few cave fires ended the Ice Age!
Yes Hans, I am atheist. I don’t have a problem with people having faith as individuals. But when some go high-profile with nuttery such as YEC I think it needs to be responded to.

Finally, I’m not sure why Chrissy (youngest daughter) wasn’t a part of the reunion. Actually, I forgot she was even a part of the show.
i watched this show some. not really a favorite. i was like reality…..the dad just wasnt that funny. that said i have seen the mom in some lifetime (wifetime) movies. kirk cameron turned loony? when? besides tons of people on sit coms dont get future rolls. i can think of at least 15 off the top of my head. i doubt that kid on that stupid 2 and a half men goes nowhere after that. and ashton kutcher is totally annoying. i could never figure out how anyone could stand him. hes not even funny.
i think sex in the city and 2 and a half men are for brain dead people. and charlie sheen is not hot! how does he charm all these girls into bed both on tv and off? hes gross.
Why in the world would you be concerned about any education a child receives Reality when that said child could have been shredded in utero and you would have applauded it??

Hans, great movie, and I’m glad you mentioned it – haven’t seen it for decades. We watched that with our parents in the 1960s…

Growing Pains was not a bad program. It could be corny, yes, but it could also be pretty funny at times and Kirk Cameron once occupied pin-up status on my wall, courtesy of Tiger Beat. I probably wouldn’t buy it on DVD and it doesn’t qualify as classic the way that Family Ties, Alice, Eight is Enough, The Jeffersons, The Facts of Life and The Cosby Show do, but it was infinitely better than Mr. Belvedere, Charles in Charge and definitely better than Full House (then again, anything was). But I would watch Growing Pains if I saw a rerun playing on my TV, and would definitely prefer that children watch that over some of the junk that qualifies for TV today.

I’m not sure when Kirk went off the rails heather, but he certainly fell into some bad company.
Every person in society deserves the best education that can be provided Carla. Some of the stuff that Kirk espouses is far from educational.
Well, Reality, when that evidence doesn’t hold up, it inevitably leads to the conclusion that there was a Creator.
* The improbability of chemicals sparking into life. As likely as Dr. Frankenstein sewing together dead body parts and zapping them alive.
* Beating the trillion to one odds that a mutation will not only be beneficial, but be replicated each generation until they’re actually useful. Half-wings only slow you down.
* The missing links. A lemur-like creature’s fossil makes the front page as our ancestor. Then it’s buried that it was….a lemur.
* Isn’t it odd that the oldest lifeform - the bristlecone pine – is determined to be from the very century or two that many place Noah’s flood?
I know, this is all foolishness to you. But so is evolution to me, now. And to many in the scientific world who cling to it but tweak it a little. “Punctuated evolution.” Everything jumped ahead so fast no intermediary fossils were left. Or the funniest: aliens left an orange peel and life got a head start.
Your final dot point clearly illustrates the foolishness you admit to.
