Squeamish pro-choicers need to “get over” sex-selection abortion
It doesn’t matter that sex-selection abortions are rare in the United States. They do happen. And it doesn’t matter how slimy and slippery slopey the anti-choicers tactics are. (Aren’t you used to that yet? They’re good!) What’s relevant is that it’s entirely irrelevant why a woman wants an abortion.
Also, let’s just remember that we are talking about fetuses. No matter how many ultrasound pics get posted to Facebook, these are fetuses with female genitals or male genitals — not little girls and little boys.
If pro-choicers object to aborting because of the sex of the fetus, aren’t we then saying that abortion is “murdering” girls?
Aren’t we basically arguing that a fetus is not a blank slate but a future possibility? That is not the case to make if your goal is to protect abortion rights.
Gulp for a second if you must, then get over it.

Uh, a fetus is a blank slate, but does have male or female genitals?? Well, that still puts them way ahead of Ken dolls. How does one argue with such ignorance?
Yep, just like it’s a “choice”; it’s not killing something. Tidy up the language and everything is neater.
I love it when they say what they really think! It’s so helpful to our side!
What kind of fetus is she talking about? – or is this some whole new kind of creature, sort of like a zombie that morphs into a baby when it goes through the “magical birth canal”?
I would rather have someone make the case, that yes – abortion kills a human child, and argue the case that killing innocents is justified, than to have poor Benedikt opine with such a non-sensical argument to just “get over it” because it’s only a “fetus”.
In the former case, you can at least appeal to the humanity of the child, in comparison to the humanity of the abortion proponent, but when someone touts abortion without the slightest hint of the child’s humanity, complete with sexual organs, then you’re dealing with someone who doesn’t understand their own humanity, and the ability to empathize is in doubt. Such a disconnect leads to cruelty.
And Allison, if you take your charade to it’s logical conclusion, you’ll go utterly insane.

Ethnic cleansing is necessary to keep our own ethnicity strong, get over it!
Honor killing is necessary to protect our family’s reputation, get over it!
Suicide bombing is necessary to advance the goals of our religion, get over it!
It’s amazing what you have to stomach to be proabortion. Maybe proaborts are born without the gag reflex.

How is a fetus a blank slate? They really do think that fetuses are like little mannequins. All plastic, all eerily still and staring, all with the same eery faces.
My friends who lost children even early in the pregnancy were astounded to see that their babies looked like the family! Michelle Duggar said Jubilee (lost half-way through the pregnancy) “looked like a little Duggar”.
My first son sucked his thumb on every ultrasound and is still a thumb-sucker (when he is tired) at age 5. My second son had big feet on ultrasound and has very big feet now as a 3 month old. Their characteristics were already visible while they were still in the womb! Because it was THEM not some standard, “one size fits all” fetus that got stamped with characteristics as it slithered down my birth canal. Seriously. And we’re the side who doesn’t know science? They are utterly delusional. But I guess you have to be to defend baby killing.

Courtnay, interesting that you should mention the gag reflex. There is some very interesting research indicating that conservatives and liberals process “disgust” in some significantly different ways. Not only do conservatives feel disgust more strongly than liberals, they also gaze at images that induce disgust longer than liberals do. So given a photo of a man with a mouth full of maggots, for example, a liberal might look at it and move on, while a conservative would experience a physiological revulsion but yet have a harder time averting his gaze. So, your joke may not be too far off, in that things that make conservatives literally gag might be shrugged off by liberals.

From what I’ve seen, most pro-aborts still have qualms about abortions in certain situations, which means that despite any furor they may raise about abortion being necessary, they still see something wrong with it. Let us always be ready to help them broaden that awareness and see the whole picture.
After all, a grudge against a deceptive movement that used you can be a powerful motivational force to propel your efforts to destroy said movement once you leave it.

Wow, if a fetus actually was a “blank slate,” that human embryology class I took in college would have been a lot shorter and easier.
A fetus is neither a blank slate nor a future possibility. It is a person, in existence, right NOW.

Jespren, that reminds me of something my brother pointed out when he and his missus were expecting their first child.
Apparently, 25% of all the children born in the world at that time were Chinese, so he insisted (jokingly, thankfully) that there was a 25% chance that they would have a Chinese child (they’re both Caucasian).
As you can probably imagine, he and his wife have beaten the odds every time.
Someone should tell them to watch the National Geographic program called “In the Womb”. Amazing 3-D and 4-D ultrasounds and computer animations based on scientific study that shows the entire process from conception to birth. The development of the baby is such an amazing process that if you see this, it would be impossible for Atheists to argue that there is no God. They have to put there heads in the sand, not look at scientific evidence, not look at ultrasound pictures etc. in order to argue their position. They are making themselves out to look really ignorant. I think everyone should see this film because you can see that when the so-called cell clump is only a few days past conception (well before a woman even would know she was pregnant) the clump of cells starts beating on its own and will form the child’s heart. With so much scientific evidence out there, why is there still this debate going on? Are pro-choice people also anti-science? Or are they too busy watching the Kardashians?
