Pro-life video of the day: Pageant mom may lose custody of daughter
by LauraLoo
Mom dresses her young daughter as Dolly Parton – complete with padded bra and sculpting underwear – for a child beauty pageant that aired on TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras.” Now the mom could lose custody because her estranged husband has claimed she sexually exploited their daughter by allowing her to dress so provocatively.

As usual, the biggest victim in these sorts of scenarios is the littlest person - who doesn’t even understand what’s the heck is going on.

She should lose custody. The little girl has no idea what is being done to her, but in ten years it will affect every aspect of her life.
These pageants disturb me. Why would you want to sexualize your innocent little girl like this? They will grow up soon enough, trust me. Enjoy their innocence while you can.
And do these moms not realize that pedophiles frequent these pageants? I was friends with a police sergeant who a few years back shared with me that these pageants are meccas for the pedos.
This article fails to mention that the estranged husband demanding custody is a convicted felon with charges for DUI and Child Endangerment. Poor girl.
Do I approve of pageants? No, I think they are weird and a giant waste of money. Do I think this woman deserves to lose her child to a man who has been criminally charged with endangering a child? Nope.
I think an even WORSE instance of the show was the woman who dressed her three year old ( yes, THREE )up as Julia Roberts’ character in “Pretty Woman”! Imagine, dressing a TODDLER up as a prostitute..complete with blonde wig!
I have only seen bits and pieces and mostly just commercials of the show “Toddlers and Tiaras”, but my husband and I both agree..that show should be taken off the air!
These innocent children are being used/exploited enough by their own parents without adding television cameras.
I refer to this show as “Pedophiles Paradise” and “Bad Mothers On Parade”. I believe, at some other time, I had mentioned the episode where the little girl disappeared, right before she was to go on-stage. The mother was running around in a panic, NOT because her 6 year-old was missing, but because she was about to miss her “stage time”!
A lot of these “pageant moms” are former beauty queens themselves, and the ones who aren’t, WISH they could be. They’re living vicariously through their children.
It’s sick.
Maybe she should go to her grandparents, then. There must be someone in the family who understands adequate child protection.
Child pageants are pedophile central. I really just…worry about these kids. I worry a lot.
There is a tendency for men to sexualize things slightly more than women do. I am careful to say “tendency” and “slightly” because these aren’t hard and fast differences but just generalities.
The people in charge and running these pageants are women. They encourage little girls to play dress-up because it looks “cute” to the women. The women fail to realize that such outfits might appear sexual to men as a gender.
Regardless of who the child ends up with, the damage has already been done.
This is child abuse. Period.
That idiotic program should be cancelled asap.
I agree the show is really wrong.
Its basically part reality show and part soft child porn. And all pointless.
Those pageants are like, legalized pedophilia. I’m not even exaggerating much, I think they are sick. I don’t know if this mom should lose custody, but I think both parents should be made to take a parenting class. And child pageants should be illegal, no lie.
I would seriously try to take away my ex-wife’s visitation if she put my daughter in a pageant.
BREAKING NEWS
Sandra Fluke stopped having sex long enough to notice:
“Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan tried to distance themselves from the remark — but the fact is they’re in lockstep with Akin on the major women’s health issues of our time. Just this morning, the Republican Party voted to include the ‘Human Life Amendment’ in their platform, calling for a constitutional ban on abortions nationwide, even for rape victims.”
missy Sandra Phluck [Fluke’s pronunciation] leading illuminary in all things leftist
Thirty years after the fact the democRATs notice there is a pro-life plank in the republican platform and they are ‘shocked’.
democRAT Nancy Pelois is still trying to remember what she did NOT know and when she did NOT know it about ‘waterboarding’.
But the democRATs are showing what appear to be signs of improvement.
It only took the Congressional [Liberal] Black Caucus 6 months to notice they had been insulted and finally realize they were offended.
How long before they discover their emperor has no clothes…of his own.
[According to the CDC the top ten leading causes of death in women in 2007 are:
1. Heart disease, 2.Cancer, 3. Stroke, 4. Chronic lower respiratory disease, 5. Alzheimers,
6. Unintentional Injuries, 7. Diabetes, 8. Infuenza and pneumonia, 9. Kidney disease,
10. Septicemia.
In females age 15-34 pregnancy related deaths were less than 2.6%. Pregnant women over 34 did not make the list.
If there was an epidemic of pregnancy related deaths it escaped the notice of the Centers for Disease Control]

Meanwhile, back on the ranch…
There’s a whole lot more talent on display in those 2-minute Shirley Temple commercials than in 2 years of Toddlers & Tiaras. Not that I’ve seen more than 2-second clips. Just my 2 cents. Poor girls.
@JackBorsch: Do you think the people who create these pageants — mostly women — can SEE the sexualization? As a man, it may be far more evident to you. To women, it just looks “cute” like little girls playing dress-up.
I see a few women saying about the same thing I am, I dont think the opinion that these pageants are sexualizing children is exclusive to men. My kids play dress up, that’s cute. I don’t put my toddler daughter in a pushup bra and sculpting underwear, because that’s not dress up, it is sexualization.
@Denise Noe: No, no, and yet still more no. Women are not somehow magically unable to tell what is or isn’t sexualized. These women know what they are doing and they don’t care. Maybe you don’t see the sexualization, but I noticed it right off the bat. As did Serena Rainey, Sydney M., Pamela, and Mary Ann. You do not speak for all women and women do not all perceive things the same way. Based on this thread, I think your view of the situation is in the minority.
It is child abuse, child sexualization and exploitation.
Not sure why the gender of commenters matters at all.
These pageants are SICK and the moms need HELP! I guess I thought it went without saying………:)
It is not “cute” or “playing dress up” as mom tries to help her daughter learn to walk sexy, swing those tiny hips, shake it and pout for the judges!!
Let’s dress our little girls up as prostitutes “just for fun!!”

(Denise) Actually, I DO see the sexualization. I saw it IMMEDIATELY when I saw film of JonBenet Ramsey in pageants and was terribly shaken by it. But the reason I see it easily is that I am a woman who is unusually sexually oriented. I recognize that many less sexually oriented women only see “cute” and can’t imagine how a male pedophile could see it.
Denise Noe,
YES we all KNOW you are highly sexualized and apparently obsessed.
You tell us every time you comment.
Give it a rest. Please.
Apparently every other woman here is “unusually sexually oriented.” Or something. Good grief.
Sorry Denise, but as these mothers teach their young daughters to walk, prance, dance, pose, and express themselves in mature ways completely foreign to their off-stage personalities, there is NO WAY they don’t recognize that they are sexualizing their daughters.
I’ve watched the show and I think these pageants are sick. The parents are so proud when their beautiful little girl wins. Um, you gave her fake teeth, fake hair, fake eyelashes, covered her perfect skin in inches of makeup, and taught her to behave in ways that do not come natural to her. Yeah, congratulations. You covered up all of your daughter’s natural beauty and turned her into a freak show.
@ Lrning and everyone else who has criticized my post: I dislike these pageants just as much as you do. Little girls made up so extravagantly look bizarre to me. It is also extremely troubling. Again, when I first saw the JonBenet Ramsey beauty pageant film, I was terriblyshaken. I automatically wondered: Did this set off some horrible crime by a pedophile?
Everyone deserves to be “liked” once in a while. :)
:)
Thanks, Has Johnson.
