Jill Stanek is a nurse turned speaker, columnist and blogger, a national figure in the effort to protect both preborn and postborn innocent human life.
So a brief blog post today on one of the more utilitarian reasons that I have heard for abortion/contraception – it saves money….
This sounds to me like something I heard from a colleague last year that the reason that New York’s prison population was down… because of Roe v Wade – since then, thousands of poor people have had abortions and a large number of those aborted babies would’ve committed crime and ended up in jail.
I should have suggested to him that an even better way of reducing prison population would be to kill everyone inside, but that would’ve made things awkward and I had only half-finished my drink at the time (and so no quick escape from the awkwardness).
Surely these sorts of arguments are completely beside the point when it comes to abortion. Either abortion is killing of the most innocent, in which case utilitarian arguments like this are sickening and deeply perverse, or abortion is nothing more than a medical procedure, in which case how much money it may save the state is neither here nor there… unless the state is thinking of using it as an argument for compulsory abortion as a cost saving device, a la China?
So, as with most abortion arguments, they are a smokescreen which obscure the real argument: are we killing a human being or not?

Get me a barf bag. Obama just gave his gun control speech and said that we must do something ‘now’ to protect the most vulnerable among us.
AWESOME AD!!! Using the words of the most pro-death president who celebrates the death of not just unborn but post-born babies targeted for abortion as a “fundamental woman’s reproductive choice”. WOW!! Creepy stuff, take away life when you choose and defend life when it’s convenient. Schizophrenic. Makes me want to vomit too truthseeker.
“Sponsored by the March for Life?” An annotation at the end of the video says “Not endorsed or affiliated with the March for Life Education and Defense Fund.”
This is actually a very interesting video. I wonder what if Obama saw it, if it would jog something in his mind and make him look at that attitude he has towards born, wanted children and wonder why he doesn’t feel the same about unborn kids.
Cool!!
I wonder if any of the parents of these Newtown children who were murdered found his speech schizophrenic and conflicted, if they knew his pro-death stance (BHO is not just pro-abortion but pro-death as Jill exposed him during the BAIPA hearings) . I wonder if some of these children were “not wanted” or “not convenient” or maybe their parents were even teens when they found out they were pregnant but they ”chose” to give them life anyway, to find out their child was the most awesome blessing that ever happened to them.
No one is “pro abortion” or “pro death” as some of these comments state. It is a difficult decision for any woman/couple to make whether or not they’re ready to take care of a child. More-so – are they ready to deal with the emotional stress of having a child or putting a child up for adoption? Obama makes the case that all children should be cared for – bringing an unwanted child into the world isn’t a great way to ensure they’re cared for and protected.
It boils down to a very difficult choice – maybe the view should shift from “why does Obama want to kill unborn babies?” to “why isn’t there better sex-ed to keep unwanted pregnancies from happening?”
“It boils down to a very difficult choice”
If an abortion is just another healthcare procedure and a fetus is not a person then WHY is an abortion a “very difficult choice”?
I had 4 good teeth extracted so my teeth could be straightened with braces. Removing my first premolars was not a difficult choice…I really wanted straight teeth. It was an easy choice that was right for me.
Prochoicer: Help me understand the difficulty of an abortion.
“I wonder what if Obama saw it, if it would jog something in his mind and make him look at that attitude he has towards born, wanted children and wonder why he doesn’t feel the same about unborn kids.”
Jack. Lovely thought. If only huh? But it is really naive to look at Obama as if he is really capable of feeling for the unborn. Obama has thought about this and he has calculated the lives of unborn kids are worthless to him politically so he is able to completely disregard them when he makes his grandiose speeches like this one.
“No one is “pro abortion” or “pro death” as some of these comments state.”
Planned Parenthood was founded as a population control organization. One of the ways they control population? Abortion.
“It is a difficult decision for any woman/couple to make whether or not they’re ready to take care of a child.”
And yet pro-abortion Hollywood celebrities make light of it. Sarah Silverman joked about getting a “quickie aborsh”.
“More-so – are they ready to deal with the emotional stress of having a child or putting a child up for adoption?”
Are they ready to deal with the stress of killing their child?
“Obama makes the case that all children should be cared for”
Except for “unwanted” children.
“bringing an unwanted child into the world isn’t a great way to ensure they’re cared for and protected.”
So unwanted children deserve to die, then?
“It boils down to a very difficult choice”
To kill or not to kill?
“maybe the view should shift from “why does Obama want to kill unborn babies?” to “why isn’t there better sex-ed to keep unwanted pregnancies from happening?””
So women who get abortions just don’t know that sex causes pregnancy? And I thought we pro-lifers we’re the ones who supposedly suggested that women were ignorant.
No one is “pro abortion” or “pro death” as some of these comments state.
Why do you people keep repeating this obvious lie? I have personally spoken to people who absolutely beileve abortion can be a “moral good” and can help to save the environment, because they think humanity is destroying the earth. These people are most definitely PRO-ABORTION and pro-any means necessary to curb the population.
And as John pointed out, Planned Parenthood was founded on the idea of “curbing population” and is still doing that work all over the world – by any means necessary, including abortion.
Awesome! This gave me goosebumps! Love the guy with the flag!
