Pro-life vid of day: Seeking burial for Gosnell’s youngest victims
by Hans Johnson
Father Frank Pavone of Priests For Life is seeking the bodies of 45 newborns taken as evidence in the Kermit Gosnell case. When the trial is over, he desires to give them a proper burial.

Bless him.
Wonder how long it will take for “Reality” to come by and say “he has no right!”
These children need a proper burial.
Exactly Lrning.
Father Frank, you are my hero!
Shouldn’t be a problem as long as there are safeguards to ensure a few of them don’t slip into some antiabortion protesters’ hands who will use them as props to give the impressions that all aborted fetuses look like that.
Actually Merit those babies look incredibly less mangled than what a D & E abortion would do to them. Question, since we know what unborn babies look like, and we know how various abortion procedures work, how do you validate your contention that aborted babies don’t actually look like aborted babies? If an aborted baby at say 16 weeks gestation is torn apart by a D & E abortion, how do they somehow transmogrify into something other than a 16-week-old baby torn to pieces? Do the abortionists make them magically disappear? You must be a troll, because there is no way you sincerely can deny that an aborted baby somehow does not look like an aborted baby, or if you scramble an egg it somehow looks exactly like a whole egg. That or in your cognitive dissonance you imagine what you are advocating for is not in fact the most brutal and inhumane treatment of a real human being imaginable.
God bless Father Frank Pavone. May justice be done for these children and may they receive proper burials.
It’s the right thing to do to give these little ones a proper burial.
God bless Fr. Pavone. God bless the babies. :(
I think it also serves as a good reminder to a culture that is waking up to the violence of abortion and the humanity of little girl and little boy fetuses. We don’t bury parasites or blobs of tissue. We do bury fellow human beings.
Shouldn’t be a problem as long as there are safeguards to ensure a few of them don’t slip into some antiabortion protesters’ hands who will use them as props to give the impressions that all aborted fetuses look like that.
The complete wrongheadedness of comments like these from pro-choices never ceases to amaze me. Where do you even begin with someone who worries not about the dignity of innocent human lives but about whether or not people will use their images to let people know that abortion kills real human beings?
Does one’s humanity depend on one’s appearance?
Kel, you probably also believe a zygote is a human being.
BTW, do the dead in West, Texas mean as much to you as an 8 week aborted fetus?
That a human zygote is a human being is not even a question.
“Human development begins after the union of male and female gametes or germ cells during a process known as fertilization (conception).
“Fertilization is a sequence of events that begins with the contact of a sperm (spermatozoon) with a secondary oocyte (ovum) and ends with the fusion of their pronuclei (the haploid nuclei of the sperm and ovum) and the mingling of their chromosomes to form a new cell. This fertilized ovum, known as a zygote, is a large diploid cell that is the beginning, or primordium, of a human being.”
[Moore, Keith L. Essentials of Human Embryology. Toronto: B.C. Decker Inc, 1988, p.2]
“The development of a human begins with fertilization, a process by which the spermatozoon from the male and the oocyte from the female unite to give rise to a new organism, the zygote.”
[Sadler, T.W. Langman’s Medical Embryology. 7th edition. Baltimore: Williams & Wilkins 1995, p. 3]
“Zygote. This cell, formed by the union of an ovum and a sperm (Gr. zyg tos, yoked together), represents the beginning of a human being. The common expression ‘fertilized ovum’ refers to the zygote.”
[Moore, Keith L. and Persaud, T.V.N. Before We Are Born: Essentials of Embryology and Birth Defects. 4th edition. Philadelphia: W.B. Saunders Company, 1993, p. 1]

Merit, really, are you sure you’re not just a troll? Of course a human zygote is a human being. What else is it? A flamingo? And, yes, of course the people who perished in West, TX mean as much as an 8 week baby. They’re all human beings with immortal souls. Did anyone ever say they didn’t mean as much? That’s not even good enough to be called a straw man argument.
God bless Fr. Pavone for trying to take care of the mortal remains of these little martyrs.
” BTW, do the dead in West, Texas mean as much to you as an 8 week aborted fetus?”
Why do you keep saying stuff like this? Have you ever actually had an in-depth conversation with like, ninety-nine percent of pro-lifers? You have the odd duck who mostly only cares about fetal life (and I think those people are as insane as you probably do), but most of us genuinely care about all of humanity.
It doesn’t seem like you have an interest in learning or discussing, you simply want to post little comments that you imagine are “gotchas” when they are pretty ridiculous. Of course the conversation around here is mainly going to focus on abortion, that’s kinda what it’s for, but there have been posts about gang violence, about euthanasia, about child abuse, etc, etc. But it doesn’t appear that you actually want to learn about people’s general ethics, you just want to score points.
Gee I believe Gosnells PC medical assistant took these photos. I remember in drivers ed we had to watch grizzly pictures of automobile fatalities as a LESSON so we wouldn’t drive drunk. Tell me Merritt if someone is ripped apart in a motorcycle accident should they receive a proper burial? These babies are actual people no matter what you say. God bless a selfless priest for seeing to a proper burial rather than a self absorbed person such as yourself who could care less.
Merritt when you die did you tell your family to toss you in a landfill?
Kel, you probably also believe a zygote is a human being.
If that zygote is the offspring of human parents, then yes. (Thanks, elementary biology class!)
BTW, do the dead in West, Texas mean as much to you as an 8 week aborted fetus?
Wow, you are an angry individual, aren’t you?
After all pro abort Merit isn’t it me me me I I I your favorite subject? Just like someone commented on the book The Choices We Made about women who aborted both legally and illegally …the person wrote …never in my life have I read a book about so many narcissistic women who listed every other word I me and my. Made this person ill.
I had to have an abortion because of my career. my schooling my life my weight. Me myself and I….ever hear the song? Makes me think of pro choicers.
Actress Anne Archer had an abortion in Mexico saying a baby would have ruined her career. No no no! You could have had your baby and given it up for adoption and gone on to be the fabulous actress that you are!
Thank you Father Pavone for thinking of the dignity of those murdered victims. I hope the Trappists in Louisiana make 45 little caskets, high profile people pack the cathedral, and a Philadelphia cemetary donates the space. These children deserve a hero’s funeral procession with bagpipes and a Knights of Columbus honor guard. Their lives, though cruelly cut short, should stir the conscience of every American and bring a nation to its knees in sorrow over this tragedy.
Fr. Pavone is a servant of the Lord.
I would love to pay my respects to these precious ones and honor them with a service.
Lord have mercy on us.
What else could a human zygote possibly be other than a human being in the exact stage of development that ALL of us go through???
Good grief. Let’s put our thinking caps on and tie them tight.
If I had no interests except the daily massacre of children, it would still not trivialize their deaths.
I am constantly amazed at how easily we blow off the possibility that we are denying a basic right to a large group of people, especially given all that history has taught us. Not only is it possible and established that mankind can convince themselves to do atrocious things, it is almost established that we will not avoid it.
-Slavery, both the trade of slaves and the practice of slavery
-The Jewish Holocaust
-Apartheid
-The Japanese Concentration Camps
-The treatment of immigrants, particularly Irish and Chinese
-The treatment of women in factories
-The general treatment of Jews throughout time
-The human sacrifice of the Aztecs
Need I continue?
One day, our descendants will wonder how we could be so brutal and hellish, while they inflict some other torture on innocents.
