Pro-life video of the day: Is campus censorship the “new normal”?
by Hans Johnson
There was another incident – the third last month – of a student knocking over pro-life signs from Created Equal. This time it was at Otterbein University in Westeville, Ohio.
When questioned, the student made it clear she felt her First Amendment rights included denying them to others.

She keeps talking about abortion pictures being a trigger to people. Well, yeah. For some, it’s a trigger to cry. For some it’s a trigger to act the way she was. But that’s the point. If it didn’t trigger emotion, then that would be a point of worry for me because that would mean we decided it was perfectly fine and nothing wrong with it. And there’s most definitely something wrong with abortion.
God bless her friends. I can’t imagine living with that. If abortion is so fine and wonderful for women, then why did she react so negatively to the illustration of what her friends did?

As someone who is “triggered” by the graphic abortion images, to the point I’ll go miles out of my way to avoid seeing them, I don’t act like this person. It’s perfectly possible to avoid/ignore the signs to allow others their right to free speech.

I would welcome pro-aborts to come set up signs of hangers and Gerri Santoro photos any time. I would in no way try to censor them or cover up their signs. Because next to my photos of aborted babies…a hanger just ain’t convincing. Even Gerri Santoro’s naked, bloody body only adds credence to what I’m saying… ABORTION is cruel to women AND children. The problem is abortion…legal or not. We can do better than that.
But it is so telling isn’t it that these students must harass pro-lifers and try to silence us and cover up our message. THey know we have truth on our side and they only have anger and tired slogans…hence the bullying.

Her usage of the F-bomb triggered memories of how I was talked to by my abusive ex-husband.
I’ll talk to administration to see if I can have her committed.

Exactly, M.I.T., the whole point is that it’s a trigger! People are so callous to violence today that they have to be jolted back to reality.

Sydney reading your post made me realize something – the prolife movement should appropriate that photo of Gerri Santoro. Prolifers want to help the Gerri Santoro’s of the world. Her photo should be shown along with the aborted babies – then prolifers would have an opportunity to explain how they are for mothers too.
As for the freedom of speech issue: if you don’t like the pictures of aborted babies, don’t support the event that gave rise to those pictures.

in answer to the question posed: is censorship the new normal?
yes – for the proaborts – although I don’t know if I would say the “new” normal, or the “same old tired” normal

Irony just bit her in the butt.
Thinking things through does not appear to be her strong point.

What about a display of autopsy photos of women who die during a legal abortion i.e from the Safe & Legal brochure?
