The 33-year-old, who has faced much pressure from her parents
to start a family, told Glamour magazine while conducting

Chelsea added: ‘Call my mother and tell her that. She asks

Yes – they’re excited. They get to PLAN their family. Nothing wrong with that. Pro-choicers don’t hate babies, despite what you seem to believe.

Right right. Babies become babies WHEN THEY ARE BORN! And only if they are WANTED and/or PLANNED!
Otherwise they are “blobs of tissue” or “clumps of cells” and deserve death by vacuum suctioning, or having their bodies torn apart and removed piece by piece. Cause they aren’t really babies.

How do you “plan” a baby? Do you prepare yourself mentally for a year and give yourself a tune-up in some areas? Do you get the nursery together or think about the name for the baby for over a year ? You don’t plan babies Kat! You make babies. You plan lunch with a friend. What’s so difficult to grasp about that?
You have to have enough money Thomas R.!!!! Silly.
You have to have all of your own selfish goals and ambitions figured out and then PLAN the exact perfect time to have a baby.
BUT if a baby is unplanned well then Planned Parenthood can fix you up!!

I know Carla right? I can understand if a couple has difficulty conceiving and tries and tries and tries. Credit is deserved there. Chelsea and her hubby , however, have no such difficulties and it seems that they are just using protection now. One question – what if by next year one of them is gone? God forbid but – out the window the plan goes.

Considering parenthood is a really big step and most people want to be good parents, then yes, I’d say you DO talk about names, prepare for how your life might change (as well as you can), make plans to start savings and college funds and talk about life insurance. See your doctor to make sure you’re healthy and if you need to lose weight or change medications or eat better, whatever it might be - do that. Goals and ambitions are not SELFISH – everyone has them. The only people who think that way are pro-lifers who apparently think the only goal that isn’t selfish is to bring a child or children into the world, no matter if you can’t actually feed them. Pro-choicers are the ones that think goals and ambitions are how you actually support the babies – planned or unplanned – that are born. How exactly is that a BAD thing? To make sure you can feed and clothe and shelter a child? Considering how much you all profess to love babies and children, you’re rather blase about the fact that there are some costs involved – no matter how cheaply you do it (by the way, I’m a mother. I breastfed – which is cheaper. My husband and I have one car. I stay at home. We don’t take big vacations. I made my own baby food. And it’s STILL expensive.) But maybe that’s because we want to make sure she is provided for with health insurance, life insurance, a savings account for college, and yes, even vacations because we think they are a part of education – all those HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE things. Babies can apparently just live on prayers in your world.

If you don’t have the money, the insurance, the goals, the ambitions, the vacation plans and you get pregnant you abort right?

Are you saying that Chelsea cannot feed her child. With all that trust fund money and a banker hubby its difficult for me to believe that.
I understand it takes sacrifice from the parents but don’t run this I cannot afford to feed my baby nonsense. Breastfeeding costs money (you said its cheaper and I thought it is always free) ? There is always formula you can get subsidized by your state’s welfare program if qualified.
Babies are expensive if you want them to be. Living in the US you do not know how many options to provide for the baby exist? Please talk with your pediatrician first…

Let’s be glad that GLAMOUR is celebrating “The Year of the Baby” with Chelsea. Anything that encourages people to think about children as a joy ALWAYS — and not just an expensive burden, like some of the posters here seem to think.

Unfortunately my children only have one of those things, health insurance, out of all that. I should just kill them, right? Because if you don’t have much money or external things, life isn’t worth living? If you have to live on loans and Pell grants when you go to college, or *GASP* never go to college at all, you might as well have never been born? Most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
People should have kids only when they are ready, if at all possible. However, that doesn’t mean that “surprise” babies aren’t human and don’t have the right to live just because you don’t have life insurance or whatever.

What a foolish and arrogant thing to announce. She is not the one who opens and closes the womb.
I pray the Lord may reveal himself to her, either in his goodness and mercy in giving her a precious child, or in his power and sovereign might in closing her womb until it is his will to open it. I pray at such time that her eyes be opened and she believe and be saved and trust in the Lord.

She seems pretty confident. That’s disturbing. I mean, I could declare 2014 to be “the year of my new minivan” with a lot less certainty. Maybe she’s buying a baby. Chelsea want, Chelsea get.
Well, if she and her husband try adoption, and a birthmother agrees to let them adopt the child (if she is the one who chooses them) hopefully it will be a legal adoption, and not a sale on the black market.

Whew, how arrogant. Just because you want a baby doesn’t mean you get a baby. How does she know she won’t have problems with infertility? Won’t have a miscarriage? Won’t have a stillbirth? She *doesn’t* know. How about something more humble like, “we’re praying that God will bless us with a child in the next year or so”?

Let’s just say Chelsea’s pro-choice ideology is not in conflict with her United Methodist membership. Paraphrase alert: We at the UM church believe God is the creator of all human life. However … blah blah blah, something about medical advances, difficult choices, blah blah … We are members of the religious coalition for reproductive choice. Sloppy but fair summation. I fail to see a connection (link?!) between their supposed faith and their support of abortion. Warning: I’m still on the move, so this may still sound like crazy talk.

I once went to a Methodist church, on Christmas mind you – they talked something about a light, hope, love, issued bread and wine (were they snacks perhaps?). I know not all Methodist churches preach or practice the same way, but this marked lack of Christ in a so-called Christian church leads me to think she would be equally concerned about the Lord’s ways if she were indeed Jewish.
Jack, you ask what’s wrong with the Methodists. I can answer that question; many are pro-homosexual, and that too is against God’s Word. In fact, homosexual acts are the ultimate form of contraception.

I really wish people would differentiate between being anti-homosexual and anti-homosexual acts. One is just bigotry and the other is a moral position.

P.S. My oldest child graduated from a one-year tech program. I had no savings or college funds for him. My second child is in her second year at a private college. I had no savings or college funds for her. My third child has plans to attend a public college. I have no savings or college funds for him.
What the heck was I thinking? Those rugrats would have been better off dead than to have to pay for their own educations.
I’m so tired of people acting like not going to college is a fate worse than death. Or that there’s something lesser about people who didn’t get an education.

There’s nothing wrong with planning a baby or trying to avoid pregnancy if you aren’t ready. There’s definitely something wrong about killing any babies who have the gall to muck up your plans by getting conceived anyway.

I agree. I think HEALTH insurance is a necessity, but plenty of people don’t go on vacations,aren’t well educated, and have wonderful lives. And then there are others who were planned, have trust funds, vacations etc. and are absolutely miserable. As for vacations, there’s plenty of nice places to visit within 50 miles of Miami so your kids won’t be deprived. When I was a kid, spending the night in pup tent in the backyard was a big adventure.
P.S. – Jack, I’m sure you’re a fine dad. And I wish the whole Clinton clan would just GO AWAY!

It’s a pretty awesome thing, and not necessarily a Christian thing apparently – neither necessary nor sufficient – but it’s only a natural consequence of letting the good Lord breathe through you His grace. So much goodness is subsumed by a real relationship with the creator of the universe and YOUR biggest fan!! I still pray for you, dear Jack.

Thank goodness Obama’s girls aren’t old enough to get married.* If the one who’s old enough to get pregnant got pregnant and decided to have it though, (and didn’t consider it a “punishment” as her father has said) and raise it, I’d be fine with that though. I imagine they probably would help her with education and career issues in this case, despite what I think of their politics.
*I imagine if the girls decide to get married (and I would think that at least one of them will) and agree with or just go along with what their parents will most likely want… they’ll have lavish weddings, probably on a golf course in Hawaii! (-:

It is an exciting thing to try to start a family. When my husband and I started trying, I was so confidant that we would conceive right away. We were both young and healthy, I had regular cycles and I had never been on birth control… how easy it was to take my fertility for granted. It really was a form of arrogance to think that it would happen when I wanted it to and it was a really, really hard lesson to learn. Happily, three and a half years later, we were able to conceive naturally and are now expecting, but infertility or sub-fertility is not something I would wish on anyone. Not even Chelsea. I hope it happens for her the way she hopes it to, but God’s plan trumps all.
Chelsea is just following the cr*p her parents have taught her. Plan plan plan. Wonder if she’s ever asked her dad about her aborted sibling from Gennifer Flowers…you all remember the one he coerced into an abortion. Or mom on keeping abortion safe legal and rare. Nah I doubt it. And yes plenty of people make it just fine without college. Oh well wishing Chelsea well on motherhood. I’m sure it will happen soon. I also wish the Clinton family would just all go away!!

Infertility happens. Miscarriages happen. Fetal distress happens. Emergency C-Sections happen. Still birth happens. Early infant death happens.
Life happens.
So glad I have God to turn to in the trials of this life.
