Pro-life video of the day: The first time ever I saw your face

by Hans Johnson If you don’t believe in love at first sight, just watch Dennis and Carita Chen when they met their son Jacob, whose adoption they believe parallels their faith. Out-of-state abortion groups boost Wendy Davis’ bid for TX gov

by Kelli Wendy Davis, running for Texas governor on the strength of her stand in favor of late-term abortion, raised nearly $3.80 million in the second half of 2013. Nearly $1.07 million – 28 percent – of that money came from outside of Texas, according to my analysis of her campaign finance filing…. In fact, […]

  • Slate’s William Saletan refutes the mindset of pro-choice people who think pro-lifers are misogynists who don’t really care about abortion:

The assertion that pro-lifers don’t really care about abortion — that what really motivates them is misogyny, controlling other people’s bodies, and forcing anyone who has sex to have a baby — is morally comforting to a lot of pro-choice people. It reassures us that we’re on side of compassion, justice, and progress, and that there’s no reason to feel ambivalent about this issue. We have nothing to heed or learn from our enemies. Our only challenge is to defeat them.

This is one of those echo-chamber beliefs that won’t survive a reality test.

Pro-life vid of day: Golden Globe award “better than saving a life”?

by LauraLoo Were the twisted priorities of Hollywood liberals once again on full display during Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, or was this just a “joke” in extremely poor taste? During his acceptance speech for the best TV comedy series, Dan Goor, co-creator of the show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, said he was happy he opted not to […]

A future discussion between Obama and Pope Francis

by Carder Topics like O-Care’s contraception mandate and infanticide will, I take it, be discreetly avoided…. Meanwhile, who’s listening to Obama’s sermons on sharing the wealth and remaining unmoved by them unless/until they know the Pope would like to see a bit more wealth-sharing too? My hunch is that people’s views of redistribution are similar to their views of […]

  • A 20-year-old college student is suing Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, claiming he is pressuring her to have an abortion:

Norwood said everything changed when she told Foster she was pregnant and wanted to keep the baby.

“He’s like, ‘You can’t have this, you can’t have this kid, like, we cannot bring a child into this, like, think about my kids,'” Norwood said.

She said Foster began sending text messages urging her to end the pregnancy.

“You just can’t bring a life into this world under these circumstances. It’s not fair to anyone. It’s not just about you,” read one message, according to Norwood.

  • Jivin Jehoshaphat says abortion advocates can’t have it both ways when it comes to a new ultrasound study that purports to show how few women change their minds about abortion after viewing a sonogram. So, is viewing a sonogram inconsequential, or is it still an “undue emotional burden”?

If they’re not going to change their mind then why is it a undue emotional burden? It’s not a physical burden because they already receive the ultrasound because as the first line (!) of the study’s abstract notes ultrasounds [are] a “routine part of preprocedure abortion care.”

Pro-life vid of the day: New Zealand abortions drop 20% in 5 years

new-zealand-flagby Hans Johnson

As reported in stuff.co.nz:

The number of women having abortions in New Zealand has dropped to its lowest rate in almost 20 years and significantly fewer teenagers are having the procedure.

Wider use of contraception, better school-based education and even reality television are all thought to be behind the drop.

In 2012, 14,745 women had abortions in NZ, down from 18,382 five years earlier.

The number of abortions is at the lowest level since 1995, according to a report from the Abortion Supervisory Committee, which works to improve the quality of abortion services in New Zealand.

…The number of girls under 14 having abortions more than halved – from 104 in 2007 to 51 in 2012. The number of girls in the 15- to 19-year-old group also dropped substantially – from 4173 to 2489.
