Pro-life vid of the day: Sid Dinsdale wobbly on pro-life stance
by LauraLoo
At RedState.com, Erick Erickson wrote regarding the wobbliness of Sid Dinsdale who is running for
I would never compromise on abortion and to insinuate otherwise, is nonsense….
I’m Pro-Life and I’m not embarrassed about that. I’m proud of that but I see a time in our country where you have to set aside something like that and try to work on the things you can get done.

Hmm. “Never compromise on abortion” or “set aside something like that.” Which is it, Sid?
[HT: Jill]
In the best possible light, what might he be saying?
By “Never compromise on abortion,” he may be saying that he will never vote to support or fund or advance abortion.
By “set aside something like that,” he may mean the hard-line, “ban all abortion now” sorts of legislative efforts.
By “things we can get done,” he may mean incremental advances in laws to protect life, such as defunding Planned Parenthood. He may also mean to say that he will not be one of the pro-life leaders (being concerned as he is with other issues), but he could still be a reliable pro-life vote.
I don’t know Sid Dinsdale from beans, but hide remarks deserve further investigation — not outright condemnation. Since he seems interested in stating his position, we should invite him to explain his nuance.

Well said Del. Setting something aside doesn’t necessarily mean surrendering ground gained, failing to stand firm, or turning apathetic when opportunity to advance presents itself. I “set abortion aside” every time I elect to post something different on my facebook page.

I wish I could be as optimistic or as temperate as you guys.
But I’ve reached the point where I classify people as ardent, passionate defenders of LIFE, that feel morally obligated to do whatever they can to stop the genocide, to stop the innocent bloodshed…or not.
There was a Stand4Life event Saturday and every abortion clinic in Michigan and most around the world had prayer teams interceding in front of the mills from 10 AM to noon. But it was a pretty small remnant. The church needs to wake up.

We would love to hear ardent, pro-life rhetoric from a candidate. But maybe he does not feel that ardency, in which case he would just be pandering to us “extreme right-wingers.”
Or maybe he does feel strongly, but he wants to soften his position in an effort to appeal to broader voters. After all, even Abortion Barbie has backed off from her very public position for abortion, hoping to close the gap by a few more percentage points.
Either way, we should just keep an eye on Dinsdale and examine his past voting record. If he is honestly pro-life and moderate, then that is what he is.

I hear you Del. I get political posturing but I still remember Bart Stupak selling out and am pretty fed up with the lukewarmness all around, especially in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. If the church would wake up then politicians wouldn’t have to be barely ProLife they could be boldly ProLife and we could change the death and genocide culture in our nation.
Wake up sleepy church!

Oh, and correcting an earlier comment, Stand4Life was a national event, not world-wide. I think that was probably a low blood sugar brain cramp.

The Sleepy Church problem is our problem to solve.
We pro-life activists need to be aggressively inviting people to join us on the sidewalk.
