Pro-life vid of the day: Should men say, “We’re pregnant”?
by Hans Johnson
Actress Mila Kunis, who is expecting a baby with fiance Ashton Kutcher, recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! When Jimmy off-handedly said: “My wife and I are pregnant”, Mila then went into a sketch/rant on men appropriating this phrase for themselves. It was all in good tongue-in-cheek fun, but one can see the frustation felt by mothers in dealing with the many side effects of a pregnancy while their significant others must instead play the supporting role.
So, is there a serious point here, or not?

When my wife and I were pregnant, we would have been insulted by someone’s insisting that we were not pregnant together.
A father’s sharing does not diminish the mother’s tremendous dignity. On the contrary, motherhood is enhanced by the co-support of the father. And so is fatherhood.
So in one breath, it’s “nurturing a human life” and in the next, it’s “we’ve got your little love goblin inside of us.”
I guess I should at least be happy she admitted that it’s a human life. More than I can say for a LOT of pro-choice people.
I think this depends upon the couple. Unfortunately, I’ve known couples were it would have been inaccurate to say ‘we are pregnant” because the father was so disconnected from the pregnancy or the wife’s needs. But I think, in general, in any sort of healthy relationship, it’s totally normal and appropriate to say ‘we’re pregnant’.
It’s the phrase “father-to-be” that I don’t like. They are mothers and fathers in-fact.
When my husband attained his professional licensure after a long road where the rug was pulled out from under “us” multiple frustrating times, I thought nothing of declaring his accomplishment with my own glow of personal satisfaction. I may not have been the one taking the tests, but I was sacrificing with him and putting in tangible effort to create a study dynamic, and I was absolutely all-in with him in my heart. I have no trouble sharing pregnancy credit with my husband even if I’m the one directly carrying the pressure. :)
I like her and I saw this. Yep she did indeed say human life….enough to send the pro aborts scowling. My husband was actually sick with me during my pregnancy with our son. It was a rough one. A lot of vomiting! My poor husband would vomit with me!!! ???? I used to tell people that we were pregnant!
Not a big Ashton fan but so glad he got away from extreme pro abort Demi. She even did a movie where she was laying on a kitchen table having an illegal abortion with a kitchen knife. Cant remember the name of it. A shame she was so darn pro abortion. And the rumor mill said the pair split because AK wanted a baby.
I wish all arguments were this fun! Whether she or they get to be pregnant, I’m delighted these two are building a family :-) .
Sorry…but it’s a personal “pet peeve” of mine.
Yes….WE are having a baby but, no..WE are not pregnant.
(Fine then, honey – YOU do the vomiting, swelling and constant urinating…I’ll just RELAX ) ;)
