Pro-life vid: Parents recall birth of daughter with anencephaly
Bonnie and Phil Walker (pictured right, with their children) were told during a routine prenatal scan that their fifth child, a daughter, had anencephaly. Doctors recommended abortion, but the Walkers refused. From Life News:
Bonnie and Phil Walker discovered that their unborn child might die at birth and so doctors offered them an “option” which they found shocking….
They were told it was… not a “viable” pregnancy and were offered an abortion within the week.
“It was that blunt”, said Bonnie Walker, who has four older children with husband Phil. He added: “There should never be a choice like that.”
Grace Walker was born and survived 15 minutes. Watch as Bonnie and Phil tell their story:

And those 15 minutes were precious to them! Every minute you have with your child is precious. We should not murder people because they are dying. I’ve never understood that logic.
I loved it when the father said, “…she was with us for 7 months…from the beginning she was part of our family…”
God love them. All of them.
Very sweet. :'(
See ? No regrets. I’ve never heard any parent of a baby that was allowed to be born despite a ‘life-ending’ condition EVER say they ‘regretted’ letting their baby live- however little time she/he had with them.
The regret usually haunts the ones who DIDN’T (let their baby live).
And think of it, that precious little girl has a birth certificate as well as a death certificate, written proof that she lived. And she can be baptized, held, and photographed for future memories. She got to meet her siblings and be loved by her whole family for those few minutes.
I’m currently following a facebook page of a couple awaiting the birth of their little boy who also has anencephaly. They made a bucket list for him and have already checked off almost everything. The page has thousands of followers, and I know this child’s life has already had a wide impact on the world! How can anyone say a short life is not worth it?
