On July 15, Planned Parenthood Federation of America issued a response to an undercover video released July 14 that showed Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, casually describing how she and other PP abortionists appear to violate several state and federal laws. PPFA denied everything.

Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee called Planned Parenthood’s bluff, while at the same time asking Nucatola to explain herself, writing in a letter to PPFA’s CEO Cecile Richards:

We were shocked on July 14 by the blockbuster release of an undercover investigative video showing Planned Parenthood executive and abortionist Dr Deborah Nucatola blithely discussing the value of keeping a baby’s organs intact during a late-term abortion. It was like a new Grimm’s Fairy Tale: “The better to harvest from you”!

Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL) movingly spoke for many as the news broke on the floor of the House:

In the wake of The Center for Medical Progress’s release on July 14 of a video (1.94 MILLION views and counting), which implicates Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its affiliates of committing several illegal activities, announcements of investigations by state and federal officials have exploded off the map.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its allies want desperately to steer the conversation away from its senior medical director, who cheerfully discussed harvesting babies’ livers over some salad and a nice chianti, to borrow a line from Hannibal Lechter.

And away from the fact the abortion giant illegally trafficks baby parts – and commits illegal partial birth abortions to do so.

Planned Parenthood wants to suck us into side debates to get away from the reality of what it does.

The conversation Planned Parenthood wants to derail us to is on the merits of embryonic stem cell and fetal tissue research. Hence, its statement yesterday:

In health care, patients sometimes want to donate tissue to scientific research that can help lead to medical breakthroughs, treatments and cures for serious diseases. Women at Planned Parenthood who have abortions are no different….

A friend on the Hill emailed me yesterday afternoon, “Members are lined up on the House floor taking their names off of the coin bill.  This is VERY unusual.”

Indeed, as apparent fallout to the firestorm created yesterday by a video released by The Center for Medical Progress, which showed Planned Parenthood’s ghoulish participation in aborted baby parts trafficking, the relationship between breast cancer organization Susan G. Komen Foundation and the abortion giant was recalled by pro-life legislators with a vengeance.
