Pro-aborts have expressed alarm that so many candidates are pro-life with no rape/incest exceptions – at least 73 federal candidates alone at last count.

Pro-abort Amanda Marcotte wrote October 24 that the tide is turning against these “extremist” candidates, although 2 of the 6 she cited as evidence – Christine O’Donnell and Carl Paladino – were already losing for reasons other than their strong pro-life stance, and we’ll just see about the others (Sharron Angle, Ken Buck, Joe Miller, and Rand Paul).

Pro-abort groups have started to pick up the spending pace in the final days of the campaign after realizing their candidates were being “flooded” by attack ads.

Pro-abort candidates reluctant to discuss the issue are also pulling out the stops.

And one of them just went too far.

Democrat pro-abort Florida 27th district state senate candidate Kevin Rader (pictured right) recently began airing a typical disingenuous ad attempting scare tactics.

Rader’s ad accused his opponent, Republican pro-life candidate Lizbeth Benacquist (pictured below left), of accepting donations from “extremist groups” that believe “choice” should be “illegal in all cases, including rape incest and to save a woman’s life,” therefore making aborting mothers “into criminals”…

Last week Benacquist demanded that Rader retract the ad because “it’s a very gross mischaracterization of who I am,” she explained. One glaring falsehood is that any mainstream pro-life group would oppose abortion to save the life of the mother.

But the fact is Benacquist has a rape/incest exception, and there’s one other thing. Benacquist was raped as a teen, an incident she has never made public… until now… in a  response ad she began airing October 27…

In the response ad Benacquist makes it obfuscatingly clear she would support abortion for rape/incest  (“For anyone to go so far in a political ad to characterize or claim that victims of rape or incest would become criminals crosses a line.”), which is too bad. Innocent children whose fathers are sexual criminals are victims, too, and Benacquist would have made a compelling spokeswoman for them as well as their mothers.

Still, even pro-abort Robin Marty at RH Reality Check called this “an extremely uncomfortable campaign moment,” wondering “how exactly can a candidate respond to such an ad without appearing to denigrate the victim?”

But it was Rader who brought it up. And in an otherwise obnoxious BrowardPalmBeach.com blog post, Lisa Rab pointed out, “[B]ut wouldn’t most women be nauseated by a political candidate who uses rape to win votes – for either side?”

Up to now pro-aborts certainly have not. For decades they have exploited rape and incest victims as trump cards to keep compassionate Americans from completely turning away from abortion on demand.

I’m confident even this incident will give them no pause to stop victimizing rape and incest victims for their own ends.
