Weekend question II: What have I missed?
This weekend question is a selfish one. I’ve been traveling nonstop in and out of country the past 10 days and feel like I’ve missed a lot.
Can you fill me in on the high and low points?

This is somebody who knows how to do it, who has the energy the stamina and the wherewithal to keep it going,” said former Rep. Marty Russo, a partner at the lobbying firm Cassidy & Associates who is a longtime Pelosi confidant.
“If there’s anyone who can put it all back together again, it’s her and she’s willing to do which I think is terrific.”

[“We didn’t lose the election because of me,” Ms. Pelosi told National Public Radio in an interview that aired Friday morning.]
I have this mental image of all the queen’s whores and all the all the queen’s castrattas scurrying about frenetically and frantically attempting to ‘un-ring the bell’. As soon as the munchkins have ‘deemed’ that task completed, they will begin putting Humpty Dumpty [b o and his liberal humanist agenda] back together again.
Meanwhile the Republican’s quiet whisper campaign is deafening:
“Run Nancy, run!
Hairy, keep your brown nose right on her tail.
b o, sacrifice more of your comrads in an attempt to advance your agenda.”
On another front:
Tifatul Sembiring, Indonesian minister of Communications and Information Technology, claimed circumstnces beyond his control conspired against him and forced him to shake the hand of first lady Michelle O’bama.
[I hope Tifatul Purelled immediately and took a long cold shower before the next call to prayer.]
However, footage broadcast nationwide on Indonesian television showed an eager Tifatul reaching with both hands to hold the first lady’s hands and slightly bowing to greet her.
Indonesian news channels repeated the footage over and over in slow motion on Wednesday, as if to assuage any doubt as to what had exactly happened at the reception.
Tifatul , a prolific user of Twitter, has some 108,545 followers and is known for his firebrand style of religious conservatism. He once wrote that AIDS was the result of “perverted sex acts.”
In another incident, while dealing with an official ministry issue, Tifatul shared a passage from the Koran that told of Allah “smiting [homosexuals] with rocks from a burning land.”
Meanwhile in a TOTUS assisted speech in Jakarta, b o asserted, …”all of us must defeat al Qaeda and its affiliates, who have no claim to be leaders of any religion – certainly not
a great, world religion like Islam.”
I wonder in which camp of Islam b o places a leader like Tifatul Sembiring and his 108,545 followers on Twitter.
Typical, moderate or extreme?

On a frivolous note, Dick Van Dyke apparently once had a near death experience while surfing. Lucky for him, he was rescued by a pod of porpoises!
wow, there’s been bloodsport on here?!! That’s a first! ;)
Keli, thanks for that clip. I love Dick Van Dyke. :) And actually, Crraaaig Faaaairguson is pretty funny, too. :D (I have to write his name that way so you can “hear” the Scottish accent.) lol
democRAT Prince George County Executive Jack Johnson, wife arrested in FBI sting
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/nov/12/pg-county-executive-wife-arrested-fbi-sting/?page=1
Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson, a democRAT, arrested in a corruption probe Friday, told his wife Leslie Johnson, to tear up a $100,000 check from a developer and stash tens of thousands of dollars in cash in her bra as federal agents arrived at Johnson’s home to search for illegal payoffs from a developer, federal prosecutors have charged.
[Sounds like Johnson is taking directions from the same democRAT emergency procedures manual as Sandy Berger.]
Caught in an FBI sting taking a $15,000 payment from an unnamed developer Friday, Mr. Johnson later told his wife by telephone not to answer the door when two FBI agents came to their home, authorities said.
The county executive, a democRAT who was previously the county’s top prosecutor, then told his wife, Leslie Johnson, to tear up a $100,000 check from the developer and flush the check down the toilet, according to charging documents.
“Yes, flush that,” he said.
FBI agents, in a search of Mrs. Johnson, recovered $79,600 in cash from her underwear, officials said.
[This might explain the motivation behind the TSA’s full body imaging and aggressive patdowns at the nation’s airports.
Suggested alternative: If you identify a democRAT politician attempting to board a commercial airliner, hang her/him by his heels and shake vigorously.
This is one non-traditional method of accounting for where the stimulus money went.]
Addendum to previous comment:
democRAT Prince George County Executive Jack Johnson, [democRAT] wife , Leslie Johson arrested in FBI sting
Johnson’s wife Leslie, a liberal democRAT who was recently elected councilperson, was also arrested yesterday.
The couple are both accused of “tampering with a witness and evidence relating to the commission of a federal offense, and destruction, alteration, and falsification of records in a federal investigation.”
or to put it more succinctly both are democRATs conducting business as usual.
Nebraska Cornhuskers football team barely beat Iowa State Cyclones in Overtime last Saturday (you didn’t say it had to be National News!)
HHS Kathleen Seblius hawking graphic images on cigarette smoking. First of all her boss still smokes and what about the hypocrisy of objecting to graphic images of abortions.
cranium is discovering the existence of the Holy Spirit in the actions of a just conscience. Or he is a troll. We will have to see if he can answer these questions he has avoided.
1) What is it that would make a woman with an unwanted pregnancy refrain from committing abortion?
2) What makes a person driving home from work risk his life by pulling over at the scene of an accident to try and pull a stranger out of a burning car?
And Ex-GOP-Voter used the liberal entitlement to bend definitions by voting for two Republicans in last weeks election.
Ok. So.
Joanie was OH YEAH?
And Gerry was all YEAH!
I was all like GO GERRY!
Then cran was all like YEAH RIGHT!!
So Gerry and Kel and I were all like YEAH!!
And that’s pretty much what’s been going on while you’ve been traveling, Jill.
LOL, Carla. I think you pretty much nailed it. :D
truth – your sentence doesn’t even make sense.
Liz – GOOOOOOO Huskers! Up on Kansas right now!
It makes more sense then somebody named Ex-GOP Voter who votes for GOP candidates.
Mike Pence of Indiana has started the ball rolling on totally defunding Planned Parenthood.

Deficits, baby, deficits.
Sorry truth – “Ex-Straight-Ticket-GOP” or “No longer is voting GOP at federal level” both seemed to be a bit too lengthy.
Ex-GOP-Voter
Do you support a party that makes it part of their platform to fund an organization (hire people) to kill other peoples babies in the womb. You elected a party leader who held fundraisers to try and keep partial birth abortion legal up until the SCOTUS outlawed it. Do you call yourself Ex-Pro-Life too now?

Carla,
Oh my gosh that’s so funny.
Next you’ll paraphrase using the following :
“was like NAH-UH” and “like YEAH HUH!” LOL
:-)
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! (Got a problem with that?)
The Indianapolis Colts lost by one in last week’s game, 24-25 I think. Anyways I don’t think they’re having a very good season far with a couple injuries and a suspension early on :(
Thanks, all! The best synopsis was Carla’s. The best news was Pelosi is not wanting to give up the gavel, even if it’s a smaller one. I’d love to see her as spokeswoman for the other side for the next 2 years.
Jill,
Nancy Pelosi’s mantra for the next two years: It’s all Bush’s fault!
“EMC Frontline in NYC is facing difficulty –Nov. 16 they are asking for support (Chris Slattery runs the operation) — the city counsel and Planned Parenthood are trying to make it very difficult for them to exist.”
Hi Debbie,
The main villain in this story is a one Jessica Lappin, former PP death-scort and now Councilmember NYC. This daughter of Satan needs to be stopped in her tracks..
http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/ny-city-targets-pregnancy-centers-as-part-of-nationwide-strategy/
maybe Jill will do a story on her…
truth?
My answer – no
Jill/others – I understand the Pelosi stuff – sometimes it is best to have the divisive in key roles – I’m rooting for Palin for the nomination in 2012!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Gerry you are one cool customer LOL

Local news — The 2010 Divine Mercy Care Gala took place last night (Saturday, Nov. 13) to help raise funds for the Washington DC area’s only fully pro-life healthcare organization, which includes the Tepeyac Family Center. TFC is a pro-life OB/GYN practice headed by Dr. John Bruchalski and a team of 5 doctors.
In a word, they rock. In two words, they rock hard.

Glad you enjoyed your journey. Pity your euphoria of being in an ‘abortion-free country’ was a bit self-deluding.
truthseeker seems to miss an answer to a question, also leading to a bit of self-delusion. “discovering the existence of the Holy Spirit” – yeah, right.
Dr. Nadal gets all snarky again.
A couple of sock-puppets seemed to emerge temporarily.
Other than that, business as usual.
The valet at the condos where I work informed me on Monday that I have a secret admirer.
When I inquired ‘who’, the valet said, “I do not now HIS name.”
I have to confess I was disappointed.
I was hoping that it was that attractive young Jewish lady that lives in 13H.
I am a flaming heterosexual who is happily married but we all like to believe that we still ‘gots it’.
Look on the bright side Ken, Mrs. Ken still thinks you gots it, otherwise you wouldn’t be happily married.
Peace bro!
Jill,
Pelosi is our best asset for the next two years. She’ll keep telling Americans that they’re knuckle-dragging dullards who really need her and the Anointed One to do their thinking for them.
rather than Glenn Beck Dr. Nadal? Or Sarah Plain? Maybe Christine O’Donnell will become a guiding light if she is successful in gaining a place on committees.
yor bro ken, don’t be disappointed. You must still have something to have an admirer of either gender :-) – by the way, I see China is looking into buying some GM stock, along with some Asian and Middle Eastern companies.
After 25 years of close friendship, one of my gay friends admitted he’d always had a deep ‘admiration’ for me. The closest he ever got to propositioning me was a light-hearted offer to show me ‘the other side’ when I advised him of the end of my marriage. The best dinner parties I’ve been to are the ones where the one I love and I are the only heterosexuals.

cranium, the reason you are unable to answer the question is because the answer to the questions is The Holy Spirit and you fail to recognize His presence. I’ll post the questions one more time so you can tell a more logical answer than the Holy Spirit.
1) What is it that would make a woman with an unwanted pregnancy refrain from committing abortion?
2) What makes a person driving home from work risk his life by pulling over at the scene of an accident to try and pull a stranger out of a burning car?
I have given you both answers already. I see/hear/feel no holy spirit. The answers I gave were logical and also indicative of how most people respond.
Your answer was about some “defense mechanism” and it made no sense in this scenario. How is it logical that a defense mechanism would cause somebody to run towards a burning car?
Because inside your head a little voice very quietly says “s..t, what if that was me”
Question I thought of this morning: If a tonsillectomy is a “routine, everyday procedure,” why are there no post-surgery support groups? Why would an appendectomy be less traumatic than abortion, if they’re just the same type of operation?
cranium,
you are correct. And in some people that little voice of care for others is even stronger than the other voice of self-preservation that is screaming RUN AWAY or you’ll get burned or even killed. Sure I would want others to do that for me, but that doesn’t explain why I would do it for others. What is the force behind these voices? Could they come from a spiritual core that animates our thoughts and actions and even overriding logic and reason?
It’s intrinsic self defense, cooperatively. No ‘spirit’.
The person would be safer driving past the fire and they have no “cooperative’ deal of any kind with the stranger in the burning car yet you continue to cling to that self defense argument . Do you deny any spiritual existense at all?
They do have a ‘cooperative deal’, that the stranger may well attempt to save them if the roles were reversed.
No, none at all.
I don’t see how you can keep insisting there is a ‘cooperative deal’ when the other person may well not attempt to be a hero if the roles were reversed. And how about the ones who just drive by, why would they do that if people had this inherent cooperative deal. The use of the term cooperative deal would require the participation and agreement of terms between both parties. There is none of that here. Would you stop to help?
“I don’t see how you can keep insisting there is a ‘cooperative deal’ when the other person may well not attempt to be a hero if the roles were reversed.” – and not every legal agreement or contract is adhered to either. We play the odds, and the returns may not be in kind.
“The use of the term cooperative deal would require both peoples participation and agreement. There is none of that here.” – not on a simplistic and naive level no. But in reality there is.
“Can you think of no other reason that the hero would stop to save the victim?” – does there need to be?
“The use of the term cooperative deal would require both peoples participation and agreement. There is none of that here.”
– not on a simplistic and naive level no. But in reality there is.
Cranium, your copperative deal explanation sounds a lot like you believe in karma. Do you think the old saying that “you reap just what you sew” is true? Does the contract imply that people live by the teaching “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
truthseeker, successful and cooperative societies have existed for eons, religious or not. We do not live our lives purely by ‘law’, you know that.
Don’t start trying to put words in my mouth. Take your karma and your trite little homilies and unspin your web.
“We do not live our lives purely by ‘law’, you know that.” —
No cranium, but surely you agree that the law plays a great role in moderating our behaviours to comply with societal norms doesn’t it?
And I was not trying to put words in your mouth. It was you who said, “They do have a ‘cooperative deal’, that the stranger may well attempt to save them if the roles were reversed.” That contract sounds a lot like it is based on the saying “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” If I spun a web it was with your posts as the silk. Try and take a deep breath already.
Karma is a term of wishful thinking created by those who feel they are on the losing end of life.
Do you feel as though a person should do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
“Karma is a term of wishful thinking created by those who feel they are on the losing end of life.” -
cranium, It is incorrect for you to say these people “feel they are on the losing side of life”. The people who believe in karma treat others kindly and are generally happy with their lot in life.
Too many people of faith simply can’t get their head around the fact that there are many people who are ‘good’, live good lives, are charitable and wish no harm to others without the direction of some deity. What’s that all about?
cranium, Again I could answer your question and ask you a new one but it is no longer a dialogue when one party does not answer the others questions. Do you feel as though a person should “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”?
What you quote is a biblical type reference derived from a social pardigm of ‘treat others how you want to be treated’ – so to that extent, yes.
Thank you for answering the question cranium. Would it be fair to say you see the ‘treat others how you want to be treated’ paradigm to be is present in yourself and you believe it to be intrinsic to people in varying degrees and recognizable as being the foundation of an unwritten cooperative deal between members of our society.
yes, from the moment our ancestors realised it was better to work together and kill the mammoth than to fight each other and get stomped on by a mammoth – these codes were generated by sheer survival necessity. As societies formed, they underpinned their success.
Sure cave men could cooperate for a kill but those same people beat each other over the head with clubs and pillaged each others mammoth skins and stole each others women and such.
Yep, sure did. They all killed each other and that was the end of humanity.
Then their consciousnesses entered another realm and existed in a state of bliss with a vivid imagination that they were physical beings who bestrode the earth.
Sarcasm is such a waste of consciousness.
You say you try and live according to a mantra of “treat others as you would have them treat you”. It seems to go against your code of ethics to deprive somebody of the chance to live a full life. You should be pro-life.
I can see these things clearly cause I love the Lord my God with all my heart and all my strength.
