You go boy!!! And good lookin to boot!
Duuuuuuude!!
I love this!
Ummm. Who cares? I’m not trying to be cynical, but why is this blog worthy? So some kid can lift heavy weights….how does this make me want to change my mind about abortion? I’m seriously asking.
With so many people advocating the abortion of down-syndrome babies, it’s wonderful to see posts like this showing their potential. Just because someone has a disability or a difficulty–or is hard to deal with, doesn’t discount any good they could accomplish, or the good things they could contribute to society. I find this a very inspiring story. Thanks for sharing!
MiT – Perfectly said.
Jake – Who’s the one with the disability? The one who cannot embrace others who are different from what an evil society said isn’t “normal”.

Gee jake because so many children ARE aborted because of DS. And this man has it and has a life. working weight lifting and friends. Sadly you dont see too many kids around with DS anymore.
Because he’s a person with Down Syndrome and his disability doesn’t define him!
(Please remember this & use person-first language in referencing individuals w/ disabilities as they are so much more than just their disability)
Like in the show Life Goes On…..the actor who played Corky was amazing. I used to tune in just to watch him.
Heather says “Sadly you don’t see too many kids around with DS anymore”
Why is this sad? Kids with DS are a lot of work, a lifetime commitment for the parents and, quite frankly, very exhausting. why is it sad that parents can screen for this disability and abort the child?
Im sure you were a lot of work jake. your parents didnt kill you now did they?
Just because someone might be a lot of work do we kill them? Ive taken care of plenty of young adults in wheelchairs…im a nurse..27 years now. Should they be killed because they had a car accident or they were shot in the back? Lemme tell ya..they are a lot of work!
I see no one answered my question though. Why is it sad?
Why is it sad? Because DS kids are killed just because they are different. I know a guy who hits the strip clubs with his son with downs. They sit and have a beer together. I always hug him and his son if I see them around. I could see jake picking on someone calling them a retard. I guess this guy is someone you figure might be better off dead.
“why is it sad that parents can screen for this disability and abort the child?”
Oops, careful, Jake. You accidentally used the word “child” to refer to that which is being aborted. You’re supposed to say “fetus”, which helps mask the reality that a human person is being slaughtered.
I think Jake is doing what I have learnt to recognise in my 7-yr-old as attention-seeking behaviour – best way to help him through this stage is to ignore him.

Don’t Feed the Troll
Sounds like some trolls are jealous ’cause they can’t bench even 30 pounds.
Referring to a 31 year old man as “some kid” is very strange.
I can bench like 40 lbs at least!
