Pro-life vid of the day: Britain breaks record for youngest parents
by LauraLoo
Britain broke a new record for youngest parents – a girl (age 12 years 5 months) and a boy (age 13) from North London.
The new mum and dad, who met when they were 10 and 11 at school, have decided to remain committed to each other as they raise their baby with help from family.

And as for the world record, that is held by Lina Medina from Ticrapo, Peru in 1939. Lina, at just 5 years 7 months, gave birth to son Gerardo. (Who ever heard of a 5 year old having a menstrual cycle??)

Wow that I’d away too young but I am glad their families haven’t abandoned them and their baby.
I just wonder what kind of man would have sex with a five year old.
Young marriages at this age used to be common among human cultures, although it is taboo in the modern West.
This could work out well for them, but it will not be easy. Let us be thankful that the young parents have their families behind them — and that the modern liberal puritans have not thrown the whole lot of them into jail and confiscated the infant.
In the US the age of the first menstrual cycle has gone down from about 16 in the early 1900’s to anywhere btw 8-12 today. For boys the first wet dream has gone down from about 15 to btw 11-13. Of course, there are many sooner cases, depending on differences in individual physiology.
We ingest a lot of hormones in our foods that impact early sexual maturation, which in turn impacts dating and mating practices.
Let’s hope for the best for the new parents….
No marriages this age were not common in most cultures, especially considering that menarche was so much later in earlier years than today. There were some places that married young teen girls, but usually to older men.
And I’m pretty sure that it’s conservatives that want harsh penalties for underage sex, liberals are far more libertine lol.
I hope they stay together and their child grows up healthy and stable.
Liberals are all for the underage having sex, as long as they don’t get married and have babies! That’s just horrible!
Glad at least that they have the love and support of their parents in this situation – so many don’t.
My cousin is a Science teacher (not a good one – but that’s another story). She had a student once who revealed that she (the student) was pregnant – she was 11.
School was about to let out for Winter Break. My cousin told us (knowing my mother, grandmother and I were all pro-life) that she told this young girl “You had better not be pregnant when you get back from break !” She never told us whether or not the girl actually turned out to BE pregnant, or if she was, and went through with an abortion, but I’ve always thought that, if she did, that baby’s blood is on my cousin’s hands (in my opinion).
Where were the parents before all this happened? It may be old fashioned, but I still believe in chaperones.
MoJo – even if the kids were in each other’s bedrooms (with others in the house), left alone for 10 minutes is ample time to have a quickie and – voila – get the girl pregnant. We don’t know how many times they had sex but once is enough. LL
@Phillymiss…who would have sex with a 5 year old? Id read she was a victim of incest at the hands of her father.
Hi Laura Loo:
That “quickie” reference you used, as it applies to children, made me pause. I better watch our 10-year old like a hawk :)
wow, that’s crazy young! That’s happening more and more frequently in America as well. someone I know who works in NICU has seen parents as young as 14. So sad.
What a crazy world our kids are growing up in. :(
But I do wish the best for them! That’s a lot of responsibility to for anyone, let alone kids. I’m so glad their families are (at least allegedly) behind them. Hopefully the kid will grow up in a loving, stable home.
The kids always have a choice LibertyBelle, crazy world or not. Hopefully parents take note of this story….
Well I’m not saying they don’t have a choice. But even awesome parents can raise kids who will choose differently. All we can do is our best.
I was just thinking how weird it would be if I had an 11 year old who had peers who were parents! Crazy.
I for one will do my part and always keep all the doors at our house WIDE open when our 10 year-old has girl company :)
I am glad they chose life, but it would have been better had they chosen to place their child for adoption. Second, the parents must have been crazy for allowing this type of relationship – and how very sad that a 10 & 11 yr old would even *want* this type of relationship. It must be because of the sex-saturated media which assaults us all on a daily basis (t.v., music, books, ads, internet porn). I wonder if the comments would be so positive if there was a young couple of age 15 & 16 wanting to get married? People tend to be negative about youthful marriage and yet nonchalant about much earlier sexual relationships. How sad is that?
