Lunch Break: A JFK Masterpiece reading from Bruce and Dan

A few days ago the media released details on yet another mistress of the late President John F. Kennedy. This time, a teen intern virgin named Mimi Alford caught JFK’s fancy only four days into her internship. Mimi was 19 years old while President Kennedy was 45 years old when the affair started.
Now, 50 years later, Mimi releases her memoir. (I wonder why she waited so long.)

While the subject of fornication/adultery is no laughing matter, listen to Bruce Wolf and Dan Proft of WLS 890AM Chicago as they humorously recreate the seduction of JFK to Mimi in a Masterpiece reading. Dan’s deadpan voice role as “Mimi” is a riot.

A pretty distasteful post. I tried to listen to the audio and it wasn’t even funny. If the subject isn’t a laughing matter, why make a joke out of it?
This post relates to judging people based on their sexual behavior. The truth is that this behavior has consequences for society as a whole. Those consequences include problem pregnancies and STDs.
Kennedy was the President of the United States who should have had far more important things to do than romp like a satyr with a teenage girl barely out of high school. Kennedy’s compulsive and irresponsible bedhopping could have seriously compromised him and our nation’s security by setting him up for blackmail and manipulation. Let’s not also disregard the anguish his romping caused his wife, and continues to cause his surviving daughter and her children.
I remember when VP candidate Dan Quayle was ridiculed as being “no John Kennedy”. I would consider that the ultimate compliment.
One can understand why Soviet dictator Nikita Kruschev expressed his condolences to the American people for having a president such as John Kennedy.
“The sins of some men are conspicuous (openly evident to all eyes), going before them to the judgment [seat] and proclaiming their sentence in advance; but the sins of others appear later [following the offender to the bar of judgment and coming into view there].
So also, good deeds are evident and conspicuous, and even when they are not, they cannot remain hidden [indefinitely].”
[Interesting that Mimi Alford also implicates Teddy, albeit posthumously.]
This was a period novelty song, but it has new meaning now.

We must learn from history. Someone this irresponsible must not be elected in the future. Private lives can and do affect public performance. Can you imagine the scandal had the Soviets or other political enemies leaked this information? Back then, we actually had respect for our leaders.
Many Catholic households had a portrait of JFK. It’s time to take them down.

Sorry but some things aren’t funny and that includes a 42y/o married man romping with a teenage girl barely out of high school. Kennedy seriously compromised himself and our country’s security with his arrested adolescense. Also, don’t you think the president of the United States should have more important things to concern himself with?
Bruce and Dan are Chicago’s best Vaudeville ever — the manic jester and the droll straight guy. Noobs to their show might not be aware that both of these guys have a deep intellectual bench. There’re a LOT of implicit shenanigans and inside jokes.
Chicago has a history of satirists not giving a rip when they’re misunderstood. These guys join Royko in that respect.
Hopefully they won’t join him in other respects any time soon. ;-)
