Pro-life video of the day: Stupak now says HHS Mandate “illegal”
by Hans Johnson
Regrets, he has a few. This week, former Congressman and pro-life Democrat Bart Stupak called the HHS Mandate “illegal” at a panel discussion in Charlotte. Stupak said he had been assured by President Obama that his Executive Order would disallow federal funding of abortion in the Affordable Care Act.
His swing vote, as well as those from other Democrats he convinced to join him, was crucial in the passage of the bill. Many warned an Executive Order could be easily rescinded. Stupak now says the Order, as well as statutory law, have been violated:

I really wonder what the life of a Pro-life Democrat must be like, especially at this year’s convention. How does it feel knowing your entire party opposes “any and all efforts to weaken or undermine” the very thing you want to eliminate?
I give Stupak props for having the guts to admit he was wrong (indirectly). It doesn’t make up for what he did, but that took courage.
I agre Andew it doesn’t make up for what he did. Talk about “after the fact”. He was warned and still took the bait. I am praying for my country to not be duped by BHO again. After the Stupak fiasco I called him Bart “Stupid” ”Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me”. We prolifers thanks to Jill and others were NOT fooled.
Too little too late, Stupak. You were supposed to be smart enough to see through the ruse. Everyone could see the problem with the executive order, but you got the fig leaf you wanted and that is all that mattered to you then. You let down pro-lifers and the country.
He needs to switch parties.
Well, gee, Bart. You sure didn’t see that coming, now did you?
I’m sure all the emails, phone calls, and petitions trying to stop you were completely irrelevant.
Yes, it’s very courageous to admit mistakes once you don’t have to worry about how it would affect re-election.
