Pro-life news brief 4-28-15

  • A student at Harvard shares her abortion experience in the Harvard Crimson:

I headed to the clinic a week later with just a book, a water bottle, my Harvard ID, and a locket containing a picture of my ex-boyfriend and me. The procedure didn’t take long. It wasn’t even that physically painful. But when it was over, I screamed. I couldn’t stop screaming. As I write these words, it has been over a month since the abortion — and on the inside that screaming hasn’t stopped.

  • In California, a woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to kill the unborn child of a woman who testified against her husband, a convicted murderer.
  • The New York Times covers the abortion debate in Great Britain:

With hindsight, perhaps the most surprising thing is how long abortion has been off the political agenda in Britain. An intensely divisive political issue elsewhere, the subject rarely makes the front pages.

All that changed this month, as a series of senior Conservative members of Parliament, from the prime minister down, indicated that they supported reducing the period in which abortions are permitted.

  • Big Blue Wave reprints an essay on abortion entitled, “The Cause of Life Can’t be Severed from the Cause of Freedom,” written by WI Rep. Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney’s pick for Republican VP candidate.

Pro-lifers, we need to get busy supporting this ticket.

  • Kelly Clinger discusses a recent viral photo (pictured left) of a woman waiting to abort her 20-week twin girls (because she wanted boys) at the Orlando Women’s Center. The photo has received mixed reactions – mostly disbelief and horror that procedures like it are legal and occurring every day here in America. Perhaps this horror is a starting point to help people understand that early abortion is no different – it’s just a matter of size.
  • Father Frank Pavone discusses the reasons why he believes the Catholic Church’s invitation to President Obama to attend the Al Smith Dinner in October is “not appropriate at this time.”

Life Links 11-18-11

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat A Pennsylvania judge has refused to separate the trials of two of abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s employees from Gosnell’s trial. While former Gosnell employees are pleading guilty left and right, abortion clinics are still fighting against legislation to strengthen abortion clinic regulations. One Newsworks article has a few quote […]

Harvard prof analyzes, “What’s next for Planned Parenthood?”

Harvard American history professor Jill Lepore has written a lengthy piece for The New Yorker this week entitled, “What’s next for Planned Parenthood?” The article is informative, written from the perspective of one with a liberal bent but who is scholarly in her research and presentation. I’ve pulled excerpts of interest to pro-life activists… “This […]

Why they’re really, really scared about the Mississippi Personhood Amendment

A potentially game-changing date for the pro-life and pro-abortion movements is quickly upon us, only 10 days away. (Make sure to read the money line at the end of this post.) On November 8 Mississippi voters will decide the fate of Initiative 26, aka the Personhood Amendment, which states: The term “person” or “persons” shall […]

Stanek weekend question I: Which five deceased people from the other side would you most like to have dinner with?

This the second half to last weekend’s question, which asked which five living people from the other side would you most like to have dinner with. So which five people from the other side of the abortion divide who are now deceased would you most like to spend an evening with? I can only think […]
