Abortion contributing to Chicago’s “fiscal free fall” and Rahm’s collapse

Rahm Emanuel

From the Investors.com article, “Rahm Emanuel’s Chicago nears fiscal free fall,” March 2:

In progressive ChicagoMoody’s has cut its credit rating to two grades above “junk.”…

The steady financial decline of the nation’s third-largest city prompted us recently to say that Chicago was well on its way to becoming the next Detroit….

[P]rospects aren’t good, as people – particularly high-income individuals and businesses – flee the city’s high taxes and stiff regulations….

People are leaving in droves, voting the only way they can in a one-party town – with their feet.

From 2000 to 2009, Chicago’s population shrank by 200,000 – the only one of the nation’s 15 largest cities to lose people. The city now has 145,000 fewer school-age children than it had more than a decade ago, according to district data, forcing the closure of about 100 schools since 2001.

Those school closures are playing a part in the embarrassing run-off election Mayor Rahm Emanuel, President Obama’s former chief-of-staff, is facing, and which he may lose:

Emanuel recently emerged from the Windy City’s mayoral primary with just 45% of the vote against four opponents, forcing Chicago’s first-ever mayoral runoff. A poll taken.. Feb. 28 showed Emanuel leading second-place primary finisher Jesus “Chuy” Garcia by a slim 42.9% to 38.5% margin.

About those school closures, from the New York Times, yesterday:

The sky-blue paint has begun to peel on the three-story building that was once Anthony Overton Elementary [pictured below]. Window air-conditioners are speckled with rust. Doors where children used to rush in and out are sealed with plywood.

The empty shell of this school on Chicago’s largely black South Side stands as a reminder of one of Rahm Emanuel’s defining acts as mayor: overseeing the closing of nearly 50 public schools deemed underperforming, underutilized or both. It was the largest closing of schools in memory, with many of them in black or Latino neighborhoods….

“It hurts,” said Earvin Wade, 55, who lives across the street. “You used to have a lot of kids there, families around. It was at the heart of our neighborhood. Now it’s nothing but an eyesore.”…

[I]n the end, it may be the education agenda that [Emanuel] proudly, defiantly and swiftly carried out that threatens his political future.

Population shrinkage and closing schools may in part be blamed on people “flee[ing] the city,” but an equally obvious reason for the decline is abortion.

Between 1995 and 2013, the dates for which Illinois county abortion breakdowns are available, a staggering 486,743 children were aborted in Cook County, accounting for 55.8% of the 872,631 abortions committed in Illinois during those 19 years.

Those are just the past two decades, with the two decades of legalized abortion before that likely the same.

The children aborted in 1973 would have been having their own children during the 1990s, so the number of lost people is compounded beyond what we see.

It is tragic that black and Hispanic neighborhoods in Chicago are blighted by empty schools. But the people themselves killed off the students. Blacks and Hispanics have a much higher rate of abortion than whites. According to Guttmacher, five times as many blacks as whites get abortions, and two times as many Hispanics as whites.

And abortion is just one social ill contributing to Chicago’s demise.

“In Chicago, 51% of children live in single-parent homes,” notes the Chicago Tribune.

Had Democrats in charge of the city since 1931 embraced conservative social values and encouraged premarital abstinence and stronger two-parent married families, the children allowed to live would not be “underperforming” in school to the extent that they are, along with being the victims of other societal plagues.

Such as murder, which unstable homes contribute to. Quoting Pew Research:

In terms of raw number of murders, Chicago has long been at or near the top of U.S. cities, according to FBI crime statistics. In 2012, it had 500 murders, the most of any city in the country; Chicago has been among the top three cities with the most murders since 1985.

Will the people wake up? But politicians aren’t the answer. They’re part of the problem.

Churches with their theological act together are really Chicago’s only hope.

Why in the world do Black women’s groups see abortion as the answer to violence?

1920In The American Prospect, Cherisse Scott, founder of SisterReach, an African-American “reproductive justice” group centered in Memphis, laments the passage in Tennessee of Amendment 1 this past month.

Amendment 1 undoes a 2000 Tennessee Supreme Court decision that blocked any pro-life laws from being passed in the state. Scott writes:

The results will be particularly devastating for poor families.  As it is, these families struggle to have their voices heard by state lawmakers, who stigmatize and shame them for facing very hard choices….

Now, more than ever, we must be intentional about fighting the policies that fail those women and girls who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, incest, age-discordant relationships….

SisterReach staff and members spent day after day calling attention to the unique concerns of black and poor communities…. Though the outcome of the vote on Amendment 1 wasn’t what we worked for, I congratulate those voters and advocates in Tennessee who engaged with us and began to believe, for the first time, that their votes and voices are important.

hqdefaultI don’t understand this misplaced fixation on abortion as the solution for violence imposed on women and girls of color. Why doesn’t SisterReach expend its energy stopping the source of woes – violence? Abortion is just another form of it.

As an abortion advocate, SisterReach is actually helping silence black voices through extermination. New abortion statistics released by the CDC only last week reveal the annihilation. Reported The Daily Caller:

The race of the victims is disproportionately skewed as well. Non-Hispanic black women had the highest rate of abortion — for every 1,000 black women between the ages of 15 and 44 years, 29.7 had abortions in 2011. Non-Hispanic black women accounted for 36.2% of all abortions that year; non-Hispanic white women accounted for 37.2%.

That’s a serious skew – the 2013, the Census Bureau reported that in the U.S. at large, 62.6% of people in the country were non-Hispanic white alone, while 13.2% were black or African American alone.

It gets worse, at least in New York City. Reported CNSNews.com:

In New York City, 77.56% of the abortions in 2011 were performed on Black and Hispanic babies, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Abortion is destroying the black race, rendering its population stagnant for decades. Blacks comprised 12.1% of the U.S. population in 1990, 12.3.% in 2000 and 13.2% in 2013.

Meanwhile, the Hispanic population jumped from 9% in 1990 to 12.5% in 2000 to 17.1% in 2013.

Abortion is such a tragedy, and I haven’t even discussed the high incidence of breast cancer and preterm births among black women, just to name two disproportionally high health consequences of abortion in their community.

African-American women are needlessly walking right into the eugenic trap. When will they wake up?

Her eyes welled up and her voice caught as she described how she’d convinced her father to pay the $200 cost for the procedure.

Sounds like Flores might need to work on her “I’m not sorry” demeanor.

Although it does not seriously damage their entire position, it is interesting to note that many abortion-rights advocates do not hesitate to impose their moral perspective on others when they call for the use of other people’s tax dollars (many of whom do not approve of this use of funds) to help pay for the abortions of poor women.

  • With the increased use of surrogacy and IVF, children seem to have become another commodity. Wesley J. Smith discusses how The View host Sherri Shepherd (pictured right, with estranged husband Lamar Sally) has decided she wants nothing to do with the preborn child who was conceived using a donor egg and her husband’s sperm – because her marriage is falling apart. She has appealed to the judge to release her from the contract, as she has no biological connection to the baby. Smith writes:

This is the culture we are allowing to emerge. If she wanted the baby, it’s hers by right of contract.

She doesn’t want the baby? Well, it’s only a purchased product anyway.

Per an article in the Daily Mail, Shepherd has booked herself for a gospel festival on the due date. She has also admitted to having “a lot of abortions” in her past.

Blogger: Silence on Gosnell says “all you need to know” about Obama

by Kelli

… [W]hen it comes to commenting on domestic scandals, President Obama will never live down his cowardly refusal to speak out against Kermit Gosnell.

Here was a man who, for thirty years, murdered black infants in his Philadelphia abortion clinic, while his activities were allowed to continue because of the complacency and tacit approval of local, state, and federal agencies.

Here was a man who segregated his waiting room by race, and gave better, safer treatment to white patients. Here was a man involved in a murderous scandal that implicated — and still implicates — every level of political authority, and resulted in hundreds of born infants being decapitated, stabbed, and drowned in toilets.

What did Obama say about it?…

“I can’t comment.”…

Forget everything else the man has done. Forget everything else he’s said. All you need to know about Barack Obama the man, and Barack Obama the President, can be summed up by the fact that he immediately and forcefully commented when a black Harvard professor was arrested by a white cop; he immediately and forcefully commented when a black teenager was killed by a Hispanic neighborhood watchman; and he immediately and forcefully commented when a white NBA owner allegedly made some insulting comments about black people — but when an abortionist was allowed to murder black infants for thirty years in the middle of an American city, he said nothing.

In all three of the cases where he did comment, the facts weren’t yet fully known, and the incident had no relevance outside of the area where it occurred. In Gosnell’s case, the facts were established, and the incident encompassed a wide range of local, state, and federal authorities. Yet on the first three he pounced, while on the last case he ran for the hills.

That’s all you need to know about Barack Obama.

  • Down on the Pharm shares some information that probably should have been brought to women’s attention much sooner – Plan B and ella aren’t as reliable for females who weigh more than 176 pounds:

The European manufacturer of Norlevo, which is their version of Plan B (Levonorgestrel) has very kindly decided to warn people that their product does not work for women over 176 lbs, and is less effective for women over 165 lbs….

In fact, people ALSO could learn here that the newer morning after pill, Ella (ulipristal acetate) has the same problem….

It appears that Mother Jones is the first of the mainstream media to let the kitty out of the bag in the United States. They note that the average weight of American girls is 166.2 lbs, which puts them over the weight limit for Plan B to work at its touted 60 percent effectiveness. The avg weight of Black and Hispanic women from 20-39 years of age is 186 lbs, which means that they can completely forget about Plan B.

Any hospital or clinic using this drug as a part of rape treatment is therefore pushing ineffective treatment and charging fraudulently. Planned Parenthood and its ilk are doing the same.

  • Abortion State says lawyers are reluctant to take on cases against Planned Parenthood because the powers that be are almost uniformly aligned in favor of PP. One attorney said taking them on “is like going up against The Mob,” as illustrated in a recent medical malpractice case. This entire article is worth a read.

  • According to Abstinence Clearinghouse, Trojan Brand Condoms has a “report card” (graphic pictured left; click to enlarge) ranking colleges and universities on their sexual health, which they claim is based on “[several factors, not the least of which, is the] hours of operation of the student health center, student clubs that discuss sexual health, STD/HIV testing….” But, as AC points out, campuses that promote abstinence until marriage – the healthiest possible choice – obviously aren’t going to rank high on Trojan’s list:

… [T]esting for STDs does not make a campus healthier, nor does having clubs that talk about sexual health issues. Having a student body that commits to remaining sexually inactive till marriage (i.e. abstinence) is the healthiest idea yet. However, Trojan Brand will not accept the healthy idea of abstinence in its ranking system of college campuses. Could this, in and of itself, not be considered a conflict of interest on the part of the Trojan Brand manufacturer? Without sexually active college students how much business would Trojan Brand stand to lose?

Planned Parenthood targets Hispanic teens with online sex drama

EastLosHigh1At the end of the show, viewers are directed to the East Los High website. Planned Parenthood ads plaster the site, along with “resource links” for abortion and birth control…. The show’s Facebook page announces one of the high school girls “doesn’t regret having had sex, she just wished she would have used birth control.”

Even during the breaks in the show, the producers run ads for Plan B one-step morning after pills, with smiling girls saying, “If my birth control fails, I know what to do…. Now no one is going to get in my way.”

The [Hulu] show targets young Hispanics specifically, with the first all-Latino cast in a show of its kind….

Targeting minority populations is nothing new for Planned Parenthood. It has placed 79 percent of its abortion facilities within walking distance of black or Hispanic neighborhoods…. Hispanics currently only account for 21 percent of abortions.

Valerie Huber, president and CEO of the National Abstinence Education Association said the show… continues to spread the message “everybody’s doing it…. But that is not the case. Almost 75 percent of 15-17 year olds have never had sex” and increasing numbers of teens are making healthy decisions to wait for sex.

“You would think, since this show is targeting this age group, they would want to encourage that, not play into the stereotype,” she said.

  • Down on the Pharm reviews the latest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control, which seem to support something pro-lifers have been saying for a long time – that minorites are targeted by the abortion industry:

… 63 percent of the abortions in the U.S. end the lives of Black or Hispanic babies. This wildly outpaces the proportions of these minorities in the general population, and it directly relates to the locations of the abortion clinics.

  • Clinic Quotes discusses a stunningly dishonest statement made by an abortionist on the issue of multiple abortions. Most people are repulsed by the idea of using abortion as birth control – but this man even suggests that abortion enhances a woman’s fertility:

Abortionist Dr. Lawrence Scott encourages women to get pregnant and have abortions:

Getting pregnant now can be good family planning for the future even if you have a termination. I am convinced of that….

Contrary to how much people think, an aborted pregnancy can help preserve fertility and perhaps keep you from developing certain physical problems later in life.

This, of course, flies in the face of studies and statistics that show women who have abortions are more likely to miscarry and give birth prematurely.

  • Priests for Life’s Fr. Frank Pavone and other pro-life leaders were locked out of the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s office for attempting to deliver an official letter asking that the remains of the children killed by abortionist Kermit Gosnell be released for burial:

About 50 pro-life activists participated in a prayer vigil outside the Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday morning. Afterwards, five of them attempted to hand-deliver the letter…. [T]he decision to lock the door took them by surprise, since previously staff had given the go-ahead for them to deliver the letter. The Medical Examiner also called the police, who asked to meet with the pro-life group’s attorney…. [Bryan Kemper stated,] “The attorney tried to go in, but they told her flat-out no, they will not talk to us, they already have a plan in place….

The medical examiner’s office says that anyone can claim those bodies for a funeral…. We have papers, we had the legal paper we issued. And they are refusing to even talk to us.”

In Canada we are experiencing a crisis of care within our medical system as we continue to build a more centralized, controlled, bureaucratic, financially bankrupt, morally negative system. We have stopped caring about individuals and we have turned “best practices” into a one-size fits all system.
