Stanek weekend Q: Has society done a disservice to Millennial Moms?

millennial-momsSorry, a rather lengthy excerpt from a fascinating post at Patheos.com, but it’s all so good!

Understanding the domestic arts as, well, art, has almost totally disappeared from our cultural landscape. Technology (and the corresponding rise in collective wealth that allows most of the US to own it) has rendered many time-honored skills – traditionally passed from mother to daughter – superfluous.

Black Friday Pro-Life Drop Card Project

Abolish Human Abortion is promoting a great idea, which I’m dubbing the Black Friday Pro-Life Drop Card Project:

Feminist: Please, bro-choicers, talk about how great abortion is!

by Kelli The thing of it is, gentlemen: You do have a story to tell. You didn’t make the final decision, but we know that in the overwhelming majority of cases, you were intimately involved in the conversations that led up to it. You were most likely the one who drove her to the clinic, […]

The Personhood split, Part I: Structure

988-BreakupOn June 14, 2014, came the news:

Georgia Right to Life President Daniel Becker today announced the formation of a new national pro-life organization, the National Personhood Alliance, a confederation of faith-based, pro-life organizations and leaders who believe pursuing Personhood is essential to protecting all innocent human beings in the 21st century.

Reading that I became confused, because last I knew Becker was working for Personhood USA, a group that sounded an awful lot like this new group.

Stanek Sunday funnies, “Stupid American voters” edition

At last count there had been six videotapes unearthed of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber blabbing that the massive healthcare bomb passed only due to “lack of transparency” on the part of the Obama administration and Democrats, in conjunction with “the stupidity of the American voter.”

Needless to say, political cartoonists had a field day with these revelations. In honor of those six videos, I’ve chosen six of their best lampoons. Be sure to vote for your favorite in the poll at the bottom of this post!

God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and destroyed them by burning them to ashes. He made those cities an example to ungodly people of what is going to happen to them. BREAKING: Judge who served on Planned Parenthood board recuses himself from lawsuit

breakingA federal judge who served as president of Planned Parenthood Association of Cincinnati has recused himself from a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio against the state.

According to Cincinnati.com, today:

“Sometimes, the perception is as important as the reality,” U.S. District Judge Timothy Black said in a statement. “Although lawyers and judges recognize that an association of more than 25 years ago does not create a conflict of interest, citizens are likely to view that question more viscerally.”

No, El Salvador’s abortion ban is not the cause of teen suicides

El Salvador abortionby Kelli

In countries where abortion is currently illegal, abortion advocates tend to exploit the “hard cases” (rape, incest, life of the mother) to use as weapons in their battle to liberalize abortion law.

The “women’s health” movement’s end goal isn’t really the betterment of women in general – it’s the removal of all roadblocks to abortion. And countries who resist the worldwide death march are often under immense international pressure to change their stance on the sanctity of human life.

Case in point: El Salvador, where, as Fox News reports, “girls aged 10 to 19 account[ed] for nearly a third of all pregnancies in the country last year.”

Read that again. Ages 10 to 19.

War on Women, Extreme Edition: prison for miscarriage?

Following the devastating Democrat rout last week, commentators on both sides of the political spectrum have proclaimed the “war on women” battle cry dead.

While abortion enthusiasts may now be forced to retire that exact terminology, and while they may also be forced to temper their hysterical push for free contraceptives (also because the new Republican “let’s offer them over-the-counter” counter-offensive terrifies Planned Parenthood), rest assured they will repackage the message.

In fact, they already have.

Jonathan O’Connell, president at Cardiff Students for Life, said: “This motion simply cannot be allowed to pass. The university environment has long been a bastion of free speech, which the proposed motion seeks to attack. There are huge implications in enforcing a single ideology or political viewpoint across the whole student populace; not least of all it restricts students’ freedom of expression as well as directly limiting the religious freedom of certain student groups.

“Declaring the university officially pro-choice is akin to declaring the university affiliated with a single political party, which obviously in the 21st century would be totally unthinkable.”

Key clauses within the pro-choice motion include preventing “affiliated societies and groups from taking part in anti-choice protests or rallies outside of abortion clinics and under the banner of the student’s union.”

A further clause states: “Any information about abortion or contraception disseminated, distributed or presented in union or university buildings must be unbiased and not shame those who choose to have abortions, and must be academically referenced.”
