  • At Stand True, Bryan Kemper gives an update about TLC’s censorship of the Duggar family’s pro-life t-shirts, which were created by Stand True:

Our Stand True missionaries have been working hard all week getting ready for the Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity and answering questions and comments coming in from all over the world about TLC censoring the t-shirt. In all reality what TLC did was help to make sure the pro-life message was heard far and wide.

We asked all of you — the Stand True family — to help us send a message to TLC and you overwhelmed us with your response. We saw thousands of tweets and e-mails going out to TLC along with tens of thousands of signatures on petitions. We know that TLC heard our message loud and clear but we need to keep the pressure on as Josh asked us to do.

Pro-life stand-off at The Alamo

622x350 (1)

On the heels of showing the reality of abortion last week on a huge, video-streaming JumboTron at the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia - where the term “created equal” was penned by our Founding Fathers - pro-life group Created Equal was blocked in San Antonio yesterday from erecting the same display at the Alamo.

This was a clear violation of Created Equal’s constitutional right to free speech – content based discrimination.

At the last minute City officials claimed Created Equal’s JumboTron violated city code regarding digital signs, but the city had previously approved jumbotrons for a Floyd Mayweather boxing event (kudos to ksat for pointing that out to the city) and a Glenn Beck Tea Party rally (starts at 1:26).

Furthermore, Created Equal had followed the letter of the law and city ordinances in preparing to show images of abortion victims at the Alamo. I will detail the chain of events below, but here is video laying out the drama yesterday:

Rampell argues that if only poor people in America could get free birth control and more comprehensive sex education, have “easy access” to abortions in unregulated clinics, and receive more government-sponsored childcare by expanding the welfare state, then unwanted pregnancies would be a thing of the past and Americans would live happily ever after.

Oh, the joy of a liberal utopia.

Catholic St. Norbert College to invite pro-abort Gloria Steinem on campus

by Carder It’s so wrong and scandalous. Especially at a Catholic campus… Because Gloria Steinem is like Margaret Sanger. Or even worse. She boasted about her own abortion, saying: “it felt positive.” On another occasion, she said: “There is no organization in this country or the world that is more important than Planned Parenthood.” (NJ.com, […]

The location of Planned Parenthood’s new mega-abortion clinic in San Antonio, Texas, was kept a closely guarded secret until October 11, when Planned Parenthood of South Texas CEO Jeffrey Hons gave a reporter from San Antonio Express-News a tour of the facility, now in the latter stages of construction.

The existing 22,000 sq ft building, located at 2140 Babcock Road, is being renovated at a projected cost of $6.5 million, up from $5 million just 7 months ago. Love those overruns.

Yesterday, pro-life activists from Created Equal and Love of Truth Ministries were able to enter the two-story building, around which there were no “No Trespassing” signs or fence, to conduct their own inspection, with video camera in hand. Here’s what they saw…

  • Fletcher Armstrong has put in a request to City Hall in Asheville, North Carolina, asking them to afford his pro-life group the same right to display a banner on the building as was given to a rainbow flag celebrating the striking down of a statewide ban on gay marriage. While he is still awaiting an official response, he has received some local TV coverage for his request.

Kristan Hawkins: “There is no right to an unsafe abortion”

by Kelli Where are the women’s rights groups, like Planned Parenthood, that supposedly should be outraged that women have to go to subpar abortion facilities for care? Abortion advocates claim to want abortion to be “safe, legal and rare.” If they want it to be safe, why would they oppose a common sense regulation that […]

What 6-3 Supreme Court ruling on Texas abortion law means

Supreme Court votes 6-3 to block texas abortion clinic regulationsAs most know by now, the U.S. SUPREME COURT ruled by a lopsided 6-3 majority on October 14 that Texas could not enforce that part of its 2013 omnibus pro-life law requiring abortion clinics to meet the same standards as other ambulatory surgical centers, this while the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals makes its decision on the case.

Pro-choice dilemma: Are we alienating the disabled?

by Carder It’s true that, for political reasons, we can’t afford for those on the other side to be the only ones talking about this issue. But I’ll go a step further: If we in the pro-choice movement don’t start paying serious attention to the ways in which our own practices contribute to the dehumanization […]

Stanek weekend Q: Thoughts on love letter aborting mother wrote to her “Little Thing”?

5b31735c5928d58177df3883e4df1a01Cosmopolitan published a love letter an aborting mother wrote to the baby she was planning to abort October 17, who she called “Little Thing.” So this baby has likely now been suctioned and chopped to little pieces.

The mother made her ghastly intent sound poetic, which Cosmo said proved aborting mothers aren’t “emotionless robots who have not given any thought to the decision they are making.”

Rather, I wanted to vomit. Aside from melodic rubbish, the mother wrote a lot that didn’t make sense, such as “I promise I will see you again, and next time, you can call me Mom.”

Where, in heaven? She thinks God will reward her for killing her baby by letting them cosmically float together again in the afterlife, where the Mom can live in blissful eternity with the child she murdered?

Or perhaps she believes in reincarnation, imagining her aborted baby would want to return to her savage uterus for a do-over. Does she think she deserves this reward?

I don’t know. In my mind this letter was a psychotic, dissociated, very disturbing mess wrapped in a pretty bow. What do you see?

  • Pro-Life Action League says now, more than ever, we need to use the images of abortion victims in pro-life outreach:

Our opponents want the average person to think of abortion not just as something to be tolerated, but as something good. Needless to say, they definitely don’t want people to think about the unborn babies who are victimized by abortion. Indeed, they don’t want people to think abortion has any victims in the first place.Which is precisely why we must continue to show the pictures of abortion victims in the public square, for nothing elicits sympathy like pictures of the victims of injustice.

Bishop: Write in “Mother Teresa” to protest pro-choice candidates

Country singer Gretchen Peters worried about pro-life legislation

by Carder What scares me about what is happening in the mid-terms in Tennessee is that the amendment that’s on the ballot would actually not provide for abortion in the case of rape or the potential death of the mother. • American Life League’s Judie Brown contrasts the indifference toward the slaughter of 3,000 humans daily by abortion in America to the outcry over the euthanasia of an Ebola patient’s dog in Spain. Brown is a dog lover, but even she was shocked at the huge response to save the life of one animal:

Here is the first sentence of a news report that came to my attention recently: “With more than 3,400 people dead in west Africa and 7,500 infected in the latest Ebola outbreak, 300,000 people sign a petition demanding action… to save an infected dog.” This was twice as many people as those who signed a petition demanding a cure be found for the deadly virus….

As it turns out, the dog was “put down” Wednesday by Madrid’s regional government. But the fact of the matter is that the plight of this one pet generated more interest and involvement than a single preborn child threatened and then killed by the act of abortion.

There is something dramatically wrong with this picture.

Stanek wkend Q: What should Wendy Davis’s follow-up to her paraplegic ad be?

2014-10-11_0616

Yesterday the Wendy Davis campaign released a new ad attacking her Texas gubernatorial opponent Greg Abbott, who is a paraplegic.

The shockingly tasteless ad was immediately condemned not only by Republicans but by… everyone.

Churches file federal complaint to stop CA from forcing abortion insurance coverage

Central-Baptist-HattiesburgDuring U.S. Supreme Court arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, liberals mocked Justice Kennedy for asking the Obama administration’s lawyer whether its contraception mandate could also force for-profit companies to cover abortions in their insurance policies.

Only five months later liberals have taken this to the unimaginable extreme: On August 22, the California Department of Managed Health Care announced that all employers offering health insurance – not just for-profit but also nonprofit, religious institutions, and churches – had to provide coverage for all elective abortions.

Exactly who perpetrated the fatal abortion doesn’t seem to pique the interest of those who want to hang her death around her distant-relative-by-marriage’s neck.

What I find particularly fascinating is that amid the obsession over Ann Keenan (obsession likely to arise again should [Mitt] Romney aim again for the White House) there is a blithe obliviousness of “safe and legal” abortion deaths.

Why abortion industry won’t push FDA to change RU-486 protocol

RU-486 abortion pill, take only as approved by FDAThe abortion cartel has reacted to a new genre of pro-life laws, which force abortion clinics to administer RU-486 per FDA protocol, in a way that makes no sense.

Four states – Arizona, North Dakota, Ohio, and Oklahoma – have now passed a version of this law, and the abortion lobby has responded by taking the more difficult path - suing to block the statute.

In terms of PR, this is an uphill battle. Abortion proponents are trying to justify giving RU-486 off-label by framing the FDA as incompetent. Quoting Tulsa World, October 1:

  • Life Issues says the deep, dark secret of the health industry is the “hastening of death” through euthanasia thanks to a lucrative market for organ harvesting:

The difficulty of making a pinpoint diagnosis in such complex neurological matters — and the lucrative financial incentives to harvest organs — will ultimately propel this issue into the forefront of public consciousness and discourse.

Not surprisingly, the current procurement market for human tissues and organs in the United States is booming, driven by insufficient supply and heavy demand. According to The Milliman Report (see page 4), if all 11 tissues and organs could be harvested from a single patient declared brain-dead, however unlikely, the going rate for procurement would exceed half a million dollars. If all costs related to those 11 transplants are counted — preparation, physicians’ services, post-op care and the like — the money involved exceeds $5.5 million.

Life Issues is asking for help from health professionals in drawing attention to this.

Blame Planned Parenthood for dearth of Texas abortion clinics today

Abortion Texas cut by 2/3 with Planned Parenthood abortion clinic monopoly

Yesterday there were 21 abortion clinics in Texas, today there are eight.

Thanks to a federal Fifth Circuit Court ruling that allows the state to immediately begin enforcing part of a pro-life law that had been enjoined by a judge in April, the unshackled statute forces abortion clinics to meet the same physical requirements as other ambulatory surgical treatment centers. It also requires that abortionists have admitting privileges within 30 miles of a clinic.

No surprise, when the decision came down late yesterday afternoon the abortion lobby proclaimed an apocalypse. Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards tweeted:

2012-02-11-gn-palin-sarah-palin-bristol-1It strikes me as bitterly ironic that the same people who tell us there is a “war on women” have no problem laughing at the recording of my daughter crying as she tells police about being assaulted by a man.

~ Sarah Palin, as quoted by Politico, October 24, on the mainstream media’s mockery of daughter Bristol’s recount to police of being attacked, transcribed here:

So we were in a limo. I walk back up. “Did you push my sister?” And some guy gets up, pushes me down on the grass, drags me across the grass. “You slut, you f—ing c—, you f—ing this.” I get back up, he pushes me down on the grass again. And he pulls me by my f—ing feet.
