Planned Parenthood tries to censor pro-life ads
Yesterday, I spotlighted 1 of 2 pro-life ads sponsored by the Second Look Project running on radio stations in liberal cities including the worst, San Francisco.
Dawn Eden of Dawn Patrol just sent me this email alert from Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, trying to censor the ads (click to enlarge):
Interestingly, when I clicked on PP’s link that it said would disprove the radio ad, I got this:
Perhaps PP will fix that link soon.
The ads have always been scheduled to run through today, January 26. I would not be surprised if PP claims censorship victory when the ads coincidentally end 2 days after PP sent its alert.

Under Roe, the Supreme Court gave free reign for abortion in the first trimester, but seemed to rule that abortion could be restricted significantly or prohibited in the second and third trimesters. However, the court said that later regulations must allow for abortions needed to protect the woman’s health. Roe’s companion case, Doe v. Bolton (issued on the same day as Roe) defined maternal “health” as: “all factors – physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age – relevant to the well-being of the patient.” These factors are so vague and open-ended that almost any reason can be and is cited to allow abortion in the second and third trimesters.

No, not “prohibited in the second trimester.” Good grief, Dobson….
Roe said that since in the Court’s opinion the risk to the woman during the first trimester is less than “normal childbirth,” (an understatement if ever there was one), that during the second (and third, though it’s a separate case) the states may regulate the procedure to have it be safer for women, i.e., the licensing and qualifications of the people doing abortions, facility conditions and licensing, etc.
In no way is this “restricting significantly” or “prohibiting” as far as going against the pregnant woman’s wishes. During the second trimester, or to viability, it is not about restricting the woman’s freedom, it is about the states wanting to keep things safer for her.

Actually, Erin, I picked up the “nu” from my ex-husband when he was studying Russian! I tried to use as much Russian as he was willing to teach me, and it really stuck.
When I first started teaching in Korea, it was hard not to scold the kids in Russian when they got out of hand, because I spent 18 years telling my kids, “Give me that!” “Come here!” “Stop that!” and “Get down from there!” in Russian. I’d have to stop and force myself to remember the English. I still have moments when I’m over-tired and some kid is playing with his cell phone or what-not and I’ll stick out my hand and say, “Die mnye eta!” and the kid will fork it over, but with a really perplexed expression on his face.
That’s pretty neat, Christina! The only time I’ve heard ‘nu’ before was in a Yiddish context, I had no idea that it was Russian as well!
