4 TX Planned Parenthoods ordered to “cease and desist”; funding threatened

According to the April 14 Houston Chronicle, 4 San Antonio PP clinics began dispensing the RU-486 abortion bill regime in 2004 without a license. The CEO of PP San Antonio, Jeffrey Hons, now says a state official he contacted by phone said no license was necessary since these aren’t surgical abortions….
To even ask the question was to disregard women’s health. According to the National Institutes of Health, RU-486’s “success rate is only 80%,” never mind complications. An unlicensed abortion mill relegates it from front alley to back alley status.
Nevertheless, there is no letter, only a “transcript of the conversation” Hons says he kept and gave to authorities. Hons says the 4 clinics applied for licenses in January “preemptively” because of new abortion clinic regulations being discussed in the TX legislature.
Another San Antonio PP is being investigated for reasons not listed. Here’s the letter from the TX Department of State Health Services outlining the grievances (click to enlarge):

Meanwhile, pro-lifers in the TX legislature are attempting to cut off taxpayer funding of PP altogether, using PP’s own stupidity and negligence as the hook. At present PP is getting $ parsed, according to the Houston Chronicle:
[TX] state law prevents the state from giving any money to abortion providers. The roughly $10 million Planned Parenthood gets from the state each year can only be used by clinics that do not provide any abortion services.
We all know this supposed firewall is nonsense. We hope pro-life lawmakers prevail.

Abortion clinics don’t have to follow the rules. They’re magically exempt because abortion is a sacred right that can’t be bothered with details like legality!
On another note, there is a “family planning” office right next to Texas State where my husband works. They have about 8 signs on both sides of the street advertising thier services. Abortion isn’t mentioned, though I wouldn’t be suprised if it is provided. I guess they thought a college campus was a prime spot to hawk their services…
‘abortion clinics’ are like a sacro sanct ‘established’ religion. The state may not regulate them, but the state must support them with tax dollars confiscated from all the tax paying citizens of the state.
No taxation without representation!
No representation without taxation!

Poor, poor, poor, poor Planned Parenthood.

Texas lawmakers,
Do you know the word “fungible” as it relates to dollars?

Lauren,
You know, if the family planning clinic doesn’t do abortions, they could only be classified as one of those evil CPC’s (Crisis Pregnancy Centers) that pro-aborts talk about. There’s no middle ground . (sarcasm alert*)
