What’s with the pictures of the photo shoots? Kinda contradicts the words she’s saying. Can’t be that hard if you have time to do photo shoots. Maybe she could have shown herself feeding the baby while doing homework?
I almost feel like this PSA could encourage girls who find themselves pregnant to abort so they don’t have to suffer the “not so pretty” outlook presented in this video. I know that probably wasn’t the intent, but it was unsettling to me.
I’m convinced that “16 and pregnant” should be required viewing for girls and boys from 6th grade on up.
This MTV series is true life, hard hitting, heartwrenching, and spares no detail of the difficulties of teen pregnancy and parenthood.
No teen girl or boy could view this series often enough.
I agree, this seemed to me like a plea for teens to go the abortion route instead. She should be more careful to make her point more clearly: save sex for later, not avoid motherhood at all costs.

The “not so pretty” look was actually not bad at all, I mean she had a roof over her head, so I didn’t see the video as abortion-leaning. I liked the slogan “pause before you play”. Catchy.
Hi Janet,
The sorry fact of life is that teen motherhood all too often means a life of poverty, dead end jobs, welfare dependency, struggle, hard work, a lost youth.
Watch “16 and Pregnant” and you will find girls and boys who live in romantic fantasy worlds until the reality of bills, diapers, and a demanding baby hits.
These kids need to see what the reality of teen parenthood is. This is in no way a promotion of abortion.
Yeah, I think this could have been better-scripted. What an absolutely gorgeous little boy, though! I think the Palins are incapable of creating ugly people…
It’s not so much about becoming a mother, as it is about having sex before marriage! Abstinence before marriage, which, by the way, is God’s way, is the best way to live a successful teen and adult life!
The direct message that I got out of this ad, is, “Don’t have children, unless your family is rich & famous.”
Gee, guess Miss Palin would know? NOT! So, how on earth can she “advise” people about the horrors of being poor & having a toddler?
And I’d really like to know how having money & fame, vs. being poor, can determine weather a toddler’s mom combs her hair or not?
PUH-LEEEEEEEZE. Even older, married moms of young children, with $$$, don’t have make-up artists & stylists on standby—that WAS the message, wasn’t it?
“Don’t have a baby unless you have a make-up artist & stylist, and baby-wrangler on hand, or you could look like THIS!”
The sad thing is that she has NO FRIGGEN IDEA how many mothers she just insulted with that commercial.
On the one hand, she’s saying “don’t be an unwed teen mom unless your rich & famous like me.”
If she’s so fortunate, why is she prostituting herself and her child for money by being the spokesperson for not being an unwed teen mom?
Thanks, amuther, for reposting your comment WITHOUT the slur against persons with disabilities.
The message I got was “Abstain from sex until you’re married. Unless you’re cute and privileged like me. Then you’ll have a cute, privileged baby and live happily ever after. But you’re not charmed like me. So YOU shouldn’t have sex.”
I’m not impressed at all.
The message I got was similar Len. Except it wasn’t don’t have sex until marriage. It was simply don’t raise a baby if you aren’t rich like me. Which could mean: be smarter than me about using contraception if you’re having sex or have an abortion or give up your baby.
I’m not impressed at all.
the only reason they showed the makeup and cameras was because it was a clip from Entertainment tonight. When it airs on television, it won’t have the extra stuff.
And her son is absolutely adorable!
